We attended the 9:30am Sunday mass in Spanish. The parishioners were very pious, friendly and supportive of their church . The image of our lady of Fatima is in a small chapel beside the small church. Although I didn't expect much, my faith in what us known as reverend made me happy to visit this place. When I found Harvest Church and met Pastor John and Pastor Elizabeth, I immediately felt welcomed. They are some of the most humble, loving, kind, and authentic people I have ever met. The other pastors are also kind and welcoming. They have a wonderful staff at Harvest. I've attended churches in the Sacramento area for many years, including one I attended for over 11 years, and never once did I feel as welcomed and embraced as I did at Harvest Church. What really stood out to me is how much this church pours into the community. From grief counseling, marriage classes, care giver support classes to mission trip opportunities, you can truly see their heart for serving others and giving back. I will just say as soon as I left it seemed I didn't make much of a dint after all, as most people here stopped replying to me who I considered friends. Not that we fell out of touch. I mean actually just stopped communicating with me because I moved away and apparently I wasn't super important to them after all. I won't be more specific than that. What I will say is consider what kind of crowds the sermons draw at any church. That will be the fruit. If they are very social-media friendly for example, the attendants will reflect that. Since I am not keen on being a Christian influencer or gaining followers, I guess it was inevitable it would be time to leave at some point. Just my experience. Some churches are there for you to grow out of eventually and that is OK too, everyone starts their walk somewhere. But I do not see a whole lot of actual paper Bibles in the audience to put it shortly.

My 6 year old looks forward to his class on Sundays, and the teenagers are enjoying their connections through Fuse (the youth leadership program). There's always a warm smile or hug when you walk in, and coffee and donuts waiting! While on the smaller side, compared to other churches in the area, I've found the lead pastor, Pastor Robert T, makes an effort to get to know every member in his congregation--welcoming you into a family. Pastor Robert T. makes everybody of all generations feel welcome and he is able to relate to the congregation young and old(and everyone in between). We actually chose Radiant Life church to be our home church because of the worship team! They play a variety of worship music to accommodate all genres and eras on a weekly basis! I am not young and I'm not old and of the youngest there. So the rock and roll vibe? No. It's genuine , worship. The leader breaks out into spontaneous prayer and worship and it's not a rock concert. Just had to clear that up ... Next to content and theology. I come from Sacramento , I moved to walnut grove. I drove to sac every week for church (Calvary chapel, church of Christ) and missed one week and decided to come here. I NEVER LEFT.... My fav pastors are Paul washer , David Wilkerson , and Charles Lawson... so I know when a pastor is preaching the unadulterated word of God. They do here. The pastor is on fire , lead by the spirit of God , and he prays for his congregation... there are old and young , and we are all in the same body. We are small and powerful by the living God. Every Sunday is spent IN THE WORD and the messages are powerful. Being so sensitive to false teaching , prosperity gospel, and sugar coated garbage (false gospels) I was on high alert our first week. Needless to say, this is my church, the Holy Spirit is there and Jesus is Lord. Thank you God for re:church. Every Fourth of July the local Walnut Grove Buddish church has it's annual food bazaar. Here you can sample traditional favorites such as chicken teriyaki,sushi, somen(cold noodles),Manju(Japanese pastries) and my favorite(hot dogs). As for entertainment they had bingo and a game trying to guess what number the spinning wheel will stop on. Also there were many other games for the kids. Parking was not a problem, there was a large parking area just a short block away. The only negative thing I found were the lines for the food! I thought the whole town of Sacramento was there. Over all we had a wonderful time and best of all we were able to see our granddaughter and our great grandson! What a nice surprise ! Bazaar runs July 4th-July 5th, 2015 12.00-6.00 PM. Somewhere out west of I-5...halfway between Stockton and Sacramento...where all those monstrous TV…read moretowers are, lies the quiet sleepy village of Walnut Grove. It might be quiet and sleepy most of the year but recently it was buzzing with activity. The Walnut Grove Buddhist Church held their 61st annual bazaar this last weekend. They had all kinds of food and games. Of course my interest was the food! During the weekend they served teriyaki chicken, chow mein, sushi, somen, manju and other baked goods. By the time I read Karen K's(Elk Grove) review and thought about going, the celebration was winding down and so were the food offerings. I managed to snag some chicken, chow mein and bake goods...and even purchased enough to bring some home. The food was good and it was reasonable. They also served yummy hot dogs and beer! Bingo games were going strong. Also had raffle prizes with a grand prize of $1000! I'm sure during the height of the event it must've been pretty crowded and parking probably scarce but by the time I arrived the crowd had already started thinning out and there was parking nearby. This is probably a small congregation and this event is their major fundraiser for the year. I'm sure there was a lot of time and effort put into making it successful. Very friendly people. One lady stopped to chat with me for several minutes wanting feedback on their event. I plan on making a return visit next year. Mark it on your calendar now. Held every year on the Fourth of July weekend!
