Cathedral

I was in the area and came across this cathedral. It was so peaceful. Nice and clean. Overall beautiful!

Nice, but nothing special.

Meh. Once you have been to Europe and have seen the artistic splendor, architectural genius and colossal scale of the churches there, anything built in America cannot begin to compare.

I called and reserved a free tour and it was so worth it! The tour guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the Cathedral & was patient with my need to photograph everything. Also, they have a reliquary which holds many repliques which include the Holy Cross. I was able to touch my rosary directly to it and a few other repliques that include the relic of St. Pious II.

Wow what a find. This place is a landmark example on a wonderful church, the murals in the interior and the stained glass make this place inspiring and worthy of a stop to see and pray a bit if you want. The Sunday schedule even has a service with mariachis on one time slot. too Cool. The beauty and art make these southwestern churches a constant stop in my travels.

The St. Augustine Cathedral is a great example of Southwestern architecture. The sun lights up the Spanish revival cathedral, and the tall palm trees cast their shadows against the glowing building. Inside, the crown jewel is the Pamplona Crucifix, carved in Spain and over 600 years old.

I noticed some tourists videotaping the mariachi during the service which I thought in very poor form - don't be those people.

I want to begin by saying the teaching is solid, the worship is uplifting, and there are genuinely…read moregood people here. That said, my personal experience as a newcomer was disappointing--and concerning. After a service, during a time of fellowship at a restaurant, a wisecrack was made by a man I had never met and who had no idea who I was. It was directed at me for speaking with a married woman who knew I was new and was simply being friendly and welcoming. I found it offensive and inappropriate--especially as a first-time visitor trying to connect. When I brought the wisecrack to leadership's attention, I felt dismissed and that the situation was minimized. That response, in itself, was offensive. Still, I chose to move forward, believing things would improve. Instead, I began to notice a shift. My interactions changed--there was distance, less responsiveness, and I felt as though I was purposely being avoided. I brought that to leadership's attention as well. When I raised this again to leadership via email, there was no response. In essence, my concerns were avoided rather than addressed. I never went back after that. These things cannot go unnoticed. We are called to let our light shine, especially in moments like this--and that didn't happen here. First impressions matter. For someone new, they often determine whether a person feels welcomed or quietly pushed away. For context, I'm a small business owner and naturally approach people with openness, respect, and professionalism. I came in with a genuine desire to connect and be part of the community. In fact, when I first visited, I heard about an upcoming marriage conference and offered to sponsor a couple in need so they could attend, even though I'm single. I was looking for ways to contribute and support others from the start. Unfortunately, I eventually felt misjudged rather than welcomed, and I made the decision to step away. My two-star rating reflects that experience. I do encourage others to visit and form their own opinion--I sincerely hope mine is not the norm. But I also hope this is taken seriously, because how new people are treated matters more than most realize.

Great worship. Challenging messages Loving community. Would recommend this Church highly.read more

Pantano Christian Church is non-denomination. It prides itself on Loving People to Jesus. And that's just what they do. If you're in Tucson, definitely plan a visit. The church is huge, but everyone is family, just like at smaller churches. Everyone is friendly and knowledgeable. The cafeteria food is delicious....best chefs around. Almost every message feels so personal, like the sermon is just for me...deep meanings and great teachings. Pantano has so many strengths. One of their main strengths is with the kids. Not just toddlers or elementary, but they have fantastic groups and teachings for middle and high school ages. And if you have any availability, join in and volunteer. You can be a greeter, help with food, serve communion, help in kids' classrooms, support the audio, etc. The church is decorated well with a huge open area, basketball nets, rock climbing, etc.
