When I got home I looked up and read many outstanding reviews. So I went the first Sunday of October 2022 and felt immediately that this church was going to be my place of worship. Everyone is sooo nice and welcoming. Pastor Tony Rhea is phenomenal! As are the associate pastors. I am sooo thankful that God led me to my church home. This church has a huge heart for helping others -- our doors are open to the community! We have 5 AA groups, FAR Conservatory (Art and Music Therapy for Special Needs), Knitting and Blanket Ministries that make chemo caps and blankets for local hospitals and cancer centers, a monthly Third Thursday Lunch for seniors, and more. We house the homeless thru MCREST for a week each year, and gather gifts for the Macomb County Friends of Foster Kids each Christmas. Not only was I baptized here when I was a baby but I have fond memories of coming here during Lent Christmas Easter and other holidays with my parents growing up. I also attended their catechism here which top mold me into the person I am today. It was held every Wednesday and still has helped to this day. If you're looking for a home Church this is one surely not to pass out. There is a younger priests here now and a lot of the original followers as well. This church does so much for the community I can't even begin to start to say the extent of the kindness they radiate. They help people who don't have enough money during Thanksgiving holidays and donate Thanksgiving dinner. If people cannot afford clothing St Vincent de Paul comes in and you are greeted by a very sweet lady who will come talk with you and make sure your children are properly closed for the winter season. And at Christmas time they go above and beyond to make sure every child has something small to open on Christmas. They remodeled this church about 15 years ago and the warship Sanctuary is beautiful. There's also a place where you can go and light a candle for a loved one or someone who's dearly Departed. Unlike these modern Christian churches this one is an original one of those Originals where it is so good there is no need to change anything. I will continue to come here and I will continue to bring my children here because I know if they're here they're getting the word of God properly. The congregation is wonderful…read more This is primarily a black Catholic Church but the church goers here are diverse in many ways. They are all the same in heart though. Father Norm and everyone here is very active in the community making a difference. They are very involved helping the homeless, working with the Detroit Eastern Market area, helping people who have done time get reestablished, scholarships and much more. Whatever the church gets in donations goes into these good deeds 110%. The only difficulty for me is that children stay in the same area. So its been hard to take my over energetic special needs son. He's getting better so we will be trying to go again soon.

I was just married here over the weekend and we had a great ceremony. Father Joe even surprised us with Ava Maria accompanied by him playing the cello. My son was baptized here, and my niece confirmed here. We could not ask to belong to a better parish. The Summer Fest in August is a great family get together as well. The only thing that I would ask that the church work on is the cry room. There is only one, and every time I have needed to go in with my son it's full of people without children. We just quietly make our way into the front and hope we aren't too distracting.
