I have only had appointments on the medical office side, but the parking is amazing! Check in, pay your deductible or whatever then go to where your appointment is. Very easy to get in and out. By far the worst experience I've ever had in a ER. Got in at 3:30pm. Online it said only a 30 min wait. Didn't see the doctor till 6 hours later! This place has very limited rooms and the desk staff were not helpful and kept saying we were next while my partner was very sick and just made us sit in the lobby for 6 hours. Total visit was almost 9 hours. I gave it 2 stars instead of 0 because once we finally got in a room the doctor was absolutely amazing and caring. If it wasn't for that doctor we would have left and went to a different ER. read more

I've never had anything but good experiences at Ochsner St. Bernard Parish Hospital. Whether it's an outpatient procedure, ER Visit, or an In Patient stay. I received quality care. The staff is professional, responsive, and I've always been treated kindly. Having the hospital and the medical offices in the parish is a Godsend. Many of the older folks can't or don't want to have to travel outside the parish for their medical care and with as large St. Bernard is a hospital is needed. It saves lives! read more

absolutely diabolical the way this hospital treated me my last visit. I arrived in ambulance for back pain; I could barely walk, excruciating pain. They hit me with the "oh we are so busy we have no room available atm" when there was literally 3 patients in the er, zero in the waiting area. So they then proceeded to REMOVE ME FROM A BED to one of those stiff wheelchairs(absolutely insane considering my condition) and put me in the waiting area. i was then wheeled back to speak to a dr who assessed me, i say what's wrong and he asks for a urine sample, hands me the cup and looks at me with a look like Its now time for me to walk away WHICH I CAN NOT AS I AM SUPPOSED TO BE IN A BED but now I'm in the chair that I obviously can NOT push myself! it dawned on him if & he then pushed me to the bathroom, never saw him again. I finally get put in a room, was waiting on soemone To pick me up and they KICKED ME OUT OF THE ROOM & BACK TO THE LOBBY!!!! I was in that room for no longer than 1 hour. .. I never saw a dr, I was given a shot by a nurse(she was the only one that spoke to me like a human being and was very kind). that's all. Never was told what was wrong, nothing. I'm now home in the same amount of pain I left with and literally have no answers To what is wrong or what I should now do about it. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE. Sad the way i was treated and from the ratings it looks to be the norm. read more

STAY AWAY! MOST OF THE NURSES ARE SUPER UNPROFESSIONAL AND RUDE! This hospital is filled with SOME of the most ill-mannered and irresponsible nurses I've ever met . They are the opposite of what nurses are qualified to be, not compassionate and are not capable of working under pressure. My experience here was horrible not once, not twice, but THREE times. Nurse Terry, known as nurse "Boo" by the security guard was just all around rude. I didn't bother to get the other nurses names, they reacted like children in a play pin to all of my questions and responses. Even when I just sat there waiting there was a nurse attending on the side laughing! This hospital seriously needs to check twice before they hire. I wouldn't count on this hospital to save my life or anyone else's. read more

My experience with St Bernard Parish Hospital consists of an ER visit and later picking up my medical records. The ER visit sucked. Staff was super rude, super slow despite not being busy. They had 4 patients that day. Seriously 4. I ended up spending 12+ hours there just for 3 x-rays. I wasn't allowed to leave the ER to get something to eat nor was I offered anything in the ER. I had to ask several times just for water. Awful. The medical records dept on the other hand was great. Bright and cheerful. Very very quick. They were supposed to charge $0.20/page but decided not to once they learned I was hand carrying my records to the insurance company to get them to pay up. Super nice people - I gave them an extra star. Mommy notes: If you got kids and it's not a super emergency skip this place and take them to childrens. Nothing kid friendly in the ER waiting area. Stay away from SBPH ER. The first few visits to this ER were ok. Attentive staff, no wait time. This last visit, however, was horrible. If you are an elderly or disabled patient, steer clear of this ER. The hospital in patient experience may be better but the ER nurses were dismissive and the doctor had no bedside manner. They sent my mother home in a dirty hospital gown and didn't re-wrap her wounds. Total lack of caring. read more

Would be nice if they can move faster than a snail. They need less talking and b.s.ing around and more of doing their job! It shouldn't take 3 hours to see a doctor for any reason. They must have forgotten it's a E.R. not a social event. Then to add more injury being a Ochsner hospital you would expect only a bill from Ochsner billing,but you also receive other bills from other companies for their services provided. If Ochsner wants to subcontract some of their services, then let the subcontractor bill Ochsner directly for their services.The directors and staff of the hospital need to fully understand the meaning of the medical term of "ACROPHOBIA" and make arrangements(WHICH CURRENTLY THEY DON'T HAVE) for people who tell them they have it. Then in the E.R. there are signs in the rooms saying "CALL DON'T FALL". How about putting a call button in the room and checking on the patient more often instead of closing the door and forgetting about the patient. Overall this hospital gets a failing grade. read more

Clean hospital with exceptionally friendly staff. I do have to recommend Dr. Verrette, he is extremely friendly and understanding . Many times explaining your issues to a doctor you don't know can be intimidating but Dr. Verrette made opening up easy. You can tell he truly cares about his patients. I wasn't made to feel like a drug seeker when I asked to refill anxiety medication ( as some doctors have a tendency to do). Dr. Verrette is an amazing primary care physician and I am lucky to have found him at this hospital. I also need to recommend Dr. Rick Costa if you are in need of a psychologist or psychiatrist , Dr. Costa is qualified for both and he is also extremely easy to talk to. Dr. Wells is their main psychiatrist and I only spoke to him once and was a little uncomfortable and felt as if he was talking down to me, but I may be being a bit overly sensitive . The ladies at the front counter can occasionally be confrontational but if you make a point to not walk up to the desk before you are called ( while waiting behind the "wait here" sign) you should be fine. read more

**Update: I received a call back stating the surgery/procedure was never booked. So whomever I spoke with was not aware of what they were doing. I checked on mychart only to see that the surgery was still scheduled. Then I was told that I needed a letter to cancel surgery/procedure by the ordering physician. I then called central scheduling to cancel and the representative made sure the this time it was indeed canceled. Extremely disappointed. But by us going for a second opinion was by far the BEST decision we've made. read more

This place sucks big donkey ****!!! No stars from me but I had to put at least 1 to leave my review. My 19 year old daughter's friend's mom brought her here on Monday 2/12/2018. I was out of town. I would have passed this place right on up. I wouldn't bring my dog here. It's Friday 2/16/2018 at 6pm. We were supposed to be discharged this morning...but nope. We are still here. My daughter has been disconnected from her IV since 10am but STILL has the needle and tube sticking out of her arm with a heplock on the end. We were informed by the doctor this morning that she no longer needs fluids and from now on will take her antibiotics orally. Well, take out the got damn tube!!! On 2/12/18, without having a diagnosis yet, her nurse wanted her to get the flu vaccine. We refused. My daughter had 103 fever and ended up having strep, mono with an enlarged liver and spleen, and an infection in her small intestine whiched caused her to vomit for 3 days straight. They ordered her to have an ultrasound of her lower abdomen for Tuesday morning 2/13/18 and said she could not have anything to eat or drink after midnight and they would perform the procedure the very next morning. My daughter was so thirsty and dehydrated but we couldn't give her fluids by mouth after midnight because of the ultrasound. Well, Tuesday 2/13/18 was friggin Mardi gras. Mardi Gras is more important to them than the health of a 19 year old because everyone was off for Mardi Gras, so the procedure had to wait until Wednesday. We deprived my daughter of fluids for nothing! Tuesday night we had to do the same thing....deprive her of fluids. Wednesday morning by 10 am...still no ultrasound. She was so thirsty and her lips were so dry from all the vomiting but we had to wait for the ultrasound. I had to get the ultrasound Department's phone number myself and call them and ask what was taking so long because my daughter is dehydrated and needs water. They told me they did not even have orders for her to have an ultrasound. I was pissed off!!! Since everyone in the ultrasound Department was off the day before they did not see that my daughter had orders for an ultrasound. When they came in Wednesday all they saw was their appointments for Wednesday they did not see that my daughter was supposed to have an ultrasound the day before when they were closed. The ultrasound tech told me if I had not called them they would have never known. PLEASE, if you care about your loved ones, do not bring them to this place!!!!! I also had a bad experience a few years back. My doc thought my appendix was infected (I could not walk my stomach hurt so bad) so he sent me to have an mri at SBPH and put on the orders that he wanted the MRI report STAT. Well, I had the procedure done and went back to my doc office to await the results as instructed. Well, 2 hours later I still had no results. I was now in a wheelchair from the pain and had my fiance push me over to the hospital MRI department to see what the hell was taking so long. Luckily, I ran into Wayne Landry, the hospital director. I told him what was going on. He put me in his personal office where I had tv and a refrigerator full of drinks and some snacks too. He came back in and informed me that the doctor who was responsible for reading the MRI and reporting the results to my doc went to lunch, came back and just disregarded that my doc wanted the report STAT. I was there for 6 hours! Good thing it was a rather large ovarian cyst that ruptured and not my appendix. Wayne Landry advised that I would not be charged for the MRI as I had to meet a deductible. Guess what? I was still charged for the MRI! What a shitty hospital. read more

November 22nd I was just about to head to bed when I received a call no daughter wants to receive. My father called to tell me he was at the hospital with my mom and they were thinking she had a stroke. I was at the hospital within 15 minutes and my mom was already in CT, blood was sent up, and the tele stroke was initiated. Mom had a massive stroke that night and was sent to Main Campus for surgery. I do honestly believe that St. Bernard helped save my mother's life. They have treated my father, my son, and many of my other family and friend's. I just wish good news traveled as far as bad. read more

Outrageous excuse for an E R Staff. At triage the nurse was respectful and profession which I thought was an indicator of what was to come. HOW WRONG I WAS. The E R doc and rest of staff behavior was very unprofessional. The tone of the E R is set by the doc and charge nurse usually. SBPH's tone is very poor overall! Having been treated for a blood disorder at multiple cancer centers I simply thought that much more extensive diagnostics and treatment were needed and my primary care physician, Dr. Thien being triple booked treated me appropriately in his office or I would have been in Tulane E R that same night or Worse! We have options in healthcare! read more

Life or death situation and even if just a bandaid is needed...DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL. This has been the WORST experience I've ever had with any health care facility. First I came in with my little brother because his hand had been cut open by a rusty piece of metal .He was bleeding pretty bad and complaining he didn't have feeling in his hand. We were told we had to wait because it was shift change. After we finally were able to give his information it took 2 hours just to see a nurse for her to only take his vitals. You would think she would do something to stop the bleeding... no.. maybe raise a concern about the numbness no. After the mediocre visit with the nurse she says they are sort staffed... why is a hospital's emergency room short staffed? While waiting to see an actual doctor, the head of staff comes out from the back yelling at another patient's family member causing a huge disruption. It was outright rude, Unprofessional, and scary to see how the staff treats their guest. In all we waited about 3 hours and still have yet to see a doctor! I took it upon myself to stop his bleeding, clean his cut and I took him elsewhere and got medical attention immediately! DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL FOR ANY REASON. read more

Absolutely horrible. The wait was almost two hours and there were only two people in the waiting room. I got my results of what was going on and they were planning to discharge you and ask me if I wanted any pain medication. Which I did, I had been in pain the whole time I had been there. I was asked by a sweet nurse if I had a ride home, which I did! This evil hobbit looking nurse came in and told me to call my ride because I would be discharged in an hour. Not happening my ride lives 2 miles away and has three toddlers. I'll call her when I'm 5 min away from discharge so she doesn't have to wait. I get up to go to the bathroom and the hobbit screeched at my that I better not be leaving. I came back and she asked twice if my ride was close. Then told me she needed the room and ripped my IV out and made me sign my discharge paperwork. She told me I could just fill my pain medicine. There were ZERO people in the waiting room and I got discharged at midnight, who is going to fill it at midnight? I always go to oschner and made a horrible mistake going anywhere other than there. read more

When my boyfriend started having chest pains last week, we didn't have the time research which hospital would be best, we just chose the closest one to us. I am so glad we did! It is a large, clean, modern hospital and our experience with the staff could not have been better. Luckily, there were only a couple of other people waiting in the ER, so we got right in. We were there a total of 8 hours (only because when testing for a heart attack, they need to do 2 blood tests 6 hours apart because it takes that long for the dead heart cells to appear). From the lady who checked us in, to nurses, doctors, and the lady who checked us out, I'd say we dealt with about 10 different people. Every single one was incredibly nice, patient, professional, listened to our questions, happily answered them thoroughly, asked if we needed anything, etc. I'm sure every hospital has certain staff members that are "unpleasant", to put it nicely, but we were lucky enough not to encounter any during our stay. I hate hospitals, but I have never had such a pleasant hospital experience in my entire life. I would DEFINITELY recommend this one!! read more
