While office staff can be a little rough around the edges, I have never received better care at an OB. Dr Mccaren Dr kveton are very sweet and caring. When I came in the last two times the technician doing my ultrasound and the woman who called me back made nice conversation. While I do wish they had later hours, I love coming here and I'm no longer scared of going to the OB. read more

Office staff is always extremely nice and professional, that's the only positive thing going on here. I have showed up for appointments and waited over an hour because the doctor wasn't even there, I have waited over a month for test results because the rude lady on the nurse line doesn't know how to make a phone calll and insists I make appointments, then when I show up the doctors tell me I shouldn't have had to make an appointment for what I need. My regular doctor was extremely nice and accommodating towards me until finding out that I was gay and repeatedly tried to pass me off to another doctor at the practice after my first two appointments. I've requested for my records to be transferred to a different office and have had to call 3 times to get a form sent to my email so that I can get proper care elsewhere. Hi everyone! I've been wanting to give a review for awhile now. Staff is very nice. I love Doctor McCarren! Her and the nurses at St. John Got me through pushing for almost 5 hours. Yes you heard that correct. My daughter was sunny side up and I was induced at 39 weeks due to GD my sugar baby was 6lb 7oz I honestly think I would've been fine if I went the full 40 but I had a healthy beautiful baby girl. I'm so grateful for them because my mind was not in the right state and I thought I needed a c-section but PRAISE JESUS they kept encouraging me and I'm so thankful for my vaginal birth! Our bodies can do amazing things! If you make an appointment bright and early you will be in and out. If you make it later in the day you will be there for about 1.5-2 hrs. The only negative is waiting and I was upset that during COVID they would not let me bring my 6 week old who I was breastfeeding with me to my postpartum appointment. Also I was not informed at all. Overall, I love my doctor! She listens to you when you have concerns and she is very kind hearted. I definitely would recommend her as your OB! Before my pregnancy, this was my primary OB/GYN for a few years. It was always hard to get appointments because they were always booked out so far. I never really had any problems until I found out I was pregnant. So when I came back for my visit to have an exam done the midwife who was supposed to be in charge of delivering the babies, was doing my exam and tried to put the speculum in my butt. That just completely blew my mind and completely changed my outlook on the practice because this is the person who is supposed to be delivering babies, so how do you not know where the correct hole is? That completely just blew my mind and made me feel so uncomfortable because there was no way in hell I would have that person delivering my baby. Would give this 0 stars if I could.......... Very disappointed to have to write this review. My family and I have been coming here for a few years and recently have had terrible experiences. My sister was wrongly diagnosed and was treated so poorly when she asked for a retest (that she had to pay for) because she had no symptoms. They didn't apologize and the staff was extremely rude and belittling through the entire experience. Truly disappointing that a medical office can conduct a business this way and have no respect or bedside manner. As an individual who is pregnant for the first time the impersonal experience was astounding. No "congratulations that's so exciting" when booking my appointment nor when I arrived as a new patient. Between having to wait in my car for 30 minutes after my appt was scheduled to answer all the questions I had previously filled out, which this phone call could have been done at my house, to the rudeness of the staff, as well as not allowing my husband to attend all my appointments; their "rule" is your partner can attend only one meeting the entire duration of your pregnancy. Are you kidding me?! This is my first child and my husband (and I) want to be apart of this wonderful and exciting journey. Once I was actually brought into the facility, I did the urine test and filled out yet another form, and then waited 20-25 mins for the CNM, whom my appointment was actually not with (and they didn't tell me the CNM whom I had requested weeks ago wasn't available today until I arrived and spoke to the front desk) to come in to start the exam/prenatal appt. Julie was however, very kind and congratulated me. I then got the ultrasound, which I was technically "late" for and the technician was nice. Afterwards I then sat in a chair in the hallway and waited 10 more minutes for my blood to be drawn. Due to the appointment issues, ridiculous "rule" about a partner not coming to all the appointments with me, I will not be returning and would not recommend them for someone wanting a personal, caring experience. read more

I'm truly no hater to any business but I had an experience here like no other. This place has a "wait in your car until a room is ready" type of rule. I, someone who doesn't own a vehicle came inside after my uber dropped me off in the RAIN might I add. I asked a woman at the front desk who had checked me in was it ok if I sat inside the building (which was completely empty) since it was raining. Did you know that she told me "Is it raining that bad you can't stand outside?" I was so taken aback I didn't argue with her. So I stood... outside... in the rain... waiting to be seen by a doctor... for almost 20 MINUTES. I'm disgusted. I understood the rule, but I was one of the last patients of the day. I have been going to this particular office for a few years and although the office staff is consistently rude, I did like my doctor. Until this last visit where I was called in, and then stared at by the front desk when I arrived, and they said, "did they call you??". I said yes that's why I'm inside the building. They finally checked me in, I waited about five minutes in the waiting room, was taken back to an exam room and was told to undressed from the waist down and given a thin tissue paper to cover myself. I proceeded to then wait over an hour half naked on an exam table. Dr. K came in flustered, and she sped through my entire exam. There was no one else in the room with us which I thought was odd because I think you're supposed to have a second person in the room. During the exam she was in such a rush. I kept thinking how rough she was being because she's not usually like that. She caused pain that i have continued to experience for days after. When I called the office to say I needed to see the doctor to find out what had happened because when I left, I was experiencing bleeding for three days post exam and constant pain in my uterus. When I went to make the appointment they told me it would be a $50 co-pay and I said well I'm coming in because I was clearly injured in some way during the exam because Dr. K seemed rushed & overwhelmed. I'm assuming she was overscheduled and was clearly running late since this had not happened previously, they told me that they couldn't do anything and that if I was going to make an appointment I had to pay $50 It's just unbelievable for a practice that's supposed to care about women's health to be so negligent, rude inconsistent and unprofessional. The doctor I saw never measured my belly when I was pregnant. Made me take the glucose test twice; even though I passed each time..... she kept hinting that the baby was going to be big and asked me every visit "how big was your last baby?" and seemed concerned with my weight. She never wrote anything down so I always had to repeat myself every visit. They wouldn't do the ultrasounds at their location because I was considered "high risk" The front counter staff was cold and standoffish. The second doctor I saw after the pregnancy (for birth control) was the one who delivered my baby because the first doctor wasn't available...she asked some questions that made me feel uncomfortable about how I avoided getting pregnant for such a long period of time.... without the use of birth control.... read more

***Disclaimer - I would rate this practice 0/5 stars if it were an option*** I started with this practice back when it was Women to Women (I was delivered by this practice and generations of family members have gone here). Over the past 3 years, I have noticed a steady decline in friendliness, compassion, and commitment to patient care. However, I continued to tolerate it because I firmly believe Dr. McCarren is a wonderful physician (this statement does not apply to any other physician in this practice, as I have had horrible experiences with the other physicians). I would have likely continued annual checkups with this practice had I not had the horrific experience of my first pregnancy and subsequent miscarriage. I was not thrilled with how the office staff handled my intake call - dismissing my questions, making me feel small, not as much as congratulations. Fast forward a few more months and I lost my pregnancy. The emotional and physical burden someone who experiences a miscarriage is enough. However, the follow-up appointment (which I had to call and schedule on my own) was an absolute nightmare. Not only did I wait in the office 50 minutes past my appointment, I was met with the same enthusiasm as when I found out I was pregnant. No one offered any condolences or support - they did, however, jump down my throat for the $20 copay (I in no way disagree with the copay, I do disagree with the way in which it was collected). After reading the reviews it seems to be par for the course with this practice. Working in the healthcare field I firmly believe that empathy and compassion should be shown in every patient interaction. While unfortunate, this practice and I do not share those same values. This practice does not care about the patient, but rather their bottom line. It is such a shame to see this practice in this state and while I truly hope these words resonate with someone there, I will not be back. As wonderful as Dr. McCarren is, the culture of her practice and behavior of her office staff and colleagues does not make it worth it. This is my OBGYN and has been for years now. I love Dr. Konieczny. She is nice and has always gone over different options with me. I feel comfortable with her and like I can be truthful about everything. I have also gone to the Romeo plank location and that was a pleasant experience too. My friend and I came in here today and the waiting room was packed with people. We have been here two hours and she was just taken back about ten or fifteen minutes ago. That's kind of crazy! And we both have a lot of things going on today. She has a flight to catch and I have other appointments since it's my day off. I think that kind of wait time is crazy. And I know when I've been here in the past, I usually have to wait a long time too. I think that they may need to perfect how they schedule people because being seen over an hour after your appointment time isn't desirable for anyone. read more

WILL NOT DO GENDER REVEAL PHOTO! My wife and I went in for our second child's ultrasound. Our first kid, we received an envelope to bring back to my sister in law for our gender reveal party. My sister in law and family flew in from California to throw us a gender reveal party. When we got back to the appointment, the technician told us that Dr. Raphtis owned the ultrasound machine and he decided no more gender reveals. The technician wasn't allowed to print out a copy. We couldn't take a photo with our phone. We weren't even given the option to go to another facility because then they wouldn't be paid for the ultrasound. My wife was in tears for how terribly she was treated, not to mention during our first pregnancy, Dr. Raphtis (who was not our OB) was a complete asshole to my wife. Now I understand that this is a business, but I hope that everyonce in a while the staff can remember that these patients are people and each individual is important and should be heard. I started my pregnancy going to their Macomb location and it was absolutely awful. Every time I called the office the ladies on the phones would sound annoyed, on location everyone was very stiff and uninviting, and the midwives I met with seemed bored and weren't very thorough. I felt like everyone was annoyed with me for showing up and making them do their jobs. I also almost never got answers to my questions. I'd ask, and they would give me the shortest answer they could come up with on the spot. I felt confused and scared after every appointment because they wouldn't tell me anything about what to expect at future appointments, or throughout my pregnancy. They omitted lots of things that would have been really nice to know early on. I started going to their St Clair Shores location and things did get better. The people on the phones were generally less annoyed sounding, and rather than everyone seeming as if they loathed their jobs the on site staff and midwives didn't seem to mind their jobs, but they still weren't enthusiastic about it, nor were they any more thorough during my appointments than they were at the Macomb location. Additionally, I still didn't feel like I could actually ask questions or voice concerns despite their verbal reassurances that I could. Their attitudes just did not match their words. I've switched providers completely now to a hospital in Southfield and after just one appointment I feel so much more excited about my pregnancy and labor and delivery. I also feel significantly more confident asking questions and I feel so relaxed. The people at this new place are enthusiastic and their attitudes and actions match their reassuring and encouraging words. If you are pregnant, I would not recommend St Clair Shores OB/GYN. Find somewhere where they won't make you feel like an item to be checked off a to-do list, but a human being with real feelings and needs. read more

Let me start by saying this Is not my first pregnancy and thank God it's not. I am pregnant with twins and have had the worst experiences at this office. The doctors have been great, but the fact that I have showed up early to EVERY SINGLE APPOINTMENT and have had to wait an hour or more IN MY CAR because they're not allowing anyone in office until your room is ready is ridiculous. After waiting an hour or longer in the car, I am STILL made to wait at least 20 minutes for the doctor. I'm confused on how they think this is comfortable for any woman who is 34 weeks pregnant, let alone 34 weeks pregnant with twins. Also, lets not forget the fact that we can barely hold our bladder. I also don't like how they only deliver out of St. John on Moross. That hospital has been nothing but unprofessional at every single ultrasound I have attended. I am all around nervous for this delivery at this point. also, let me add, the staff at the office are so wishy washy. Specifically the ladies at the front desk. Horrible attitudes and customer service. They literally gave me a hard time when I had to call them and ask them if I could come use the bathroom because I had been sitting in the car OVER AN HOUR waiting to be seen. read more

If zero stars were a possibility I would give them zero!!! I went to their office the first time everyone was very nice. After that first visit attitudes changed. I went for my pap smear while I was there I asked for a script for a mammogram, which they gave me. I went for the test, right after I was called by the mammogram office that they saw something and wanted me to have an ultrasound. I did they told me the results would be sent to my doctor by Friday the latest Monday. This was Wednesday. I called the ob/gyn office twice on Friday to get my results. No return phone call. By Monday at 10 A.M. I still had not heard. I already have stage 4 lung cancer, so my fear was very heightened. I called and spoke to the receptionist who claimed my results were not there. I called mammogram office to find out what was going on. They told me they were faced on the Friday, I asked if they would refax results which they did. I called the ob/hyn again explaining my situation and asking for my results. Long story short 16 phone calls later, I finally got a call with the results (they tried to lie and say they just arrived little did they know I had the copy of the fax confirmations from the 3 times mammogram office faxed) of course I confronted the lying doctor who then stumbled over her words. I needed to get a biopsy which I scheduled for the following week. After the frustration of the night before. I called the ob/gyn office and demanded to speak with Dr. Raphtis directly. He called me back and I told him the whole story about his incompetent employees. He apologized and told me he would call me personally with my biopsy results knowing I already have lung cancer. Guess what....he never called, neither did his lazy useless nurse. I had to chase down my results for over 3 hours. I finally got a hold of his assistant who gave me the results (thank goodness they were negative) she also said Dr. Raphtis would call the next day with what he wants to do next. That was 2 days ago. What I am trying to say is very simple find another gynecologist anyone would be better then the blatant disrespect of this horrible office staff and obviously doctors who lie and really don't care what you have to say or feel! You are just a number to this office not one single person cares at all!!! Run from this practice as fast as you can!!!!! read more

ZERO STARS I WANT TO GIVE! Never going back to this obgyn! They're the worst! I am so pissed off, no words can explain how furious I am. I was scheduled to get labs done at 4:30pm and around 4:49 I go to back to get my labs done and the lady doing the blood work told me she was "closed" so I go back to tell nurse, we walked back and the lady says to the nurse "she isn't taken anymore people because she leaves at 5pm and it's hard to find a vein" again it's 4:50pm so she had 10 mins left! Sorry if you can't find the vein or it takes you that long to find one you shouldn't be doing that job! The nurse tells me I have to go to St. John to get my blood work done because the lady wouldn't do it! Such a big inconvenience and they should be ashamed of themselves! I've tried to give them a chance multiple times, but time after time, I have had a horrible experience. Every single person besides ONE woman who drew my blood, has been rude and condescending. God forbid you want to know test results about your baby. I have proof that my results are in, and they are lying saying they will not have them for another two weeks. I even sent a message on portal and then called and still recieved a rde message back for trying to inquire about MY RESULTS. They act like you're interrupting them with any question or concern. Mentioned my weight about 15 times during my appointment as well. I'm not even very overweight. If you're going there for your first baby, they make you feel stupid. Every time you go in, everyone acts like they don't want to be there. Not to mention, the father of the baby isn't even allowed in for the appointments. Just not good. The Macomb office staff is super sweet. The wait time at both is absurd. Dr. Smith is extremely unprofessional and heaven forbid you be a working mom or she'll tell you "you've picked your job over your baby." There's also huge communication issues here. One doctor tells you to get a test done, the other says not to, the other sends you to the ER, the on-call doctor sends you home. This office is terrible and I'm so glad I'm able to switch now that I've finished all my appointments. I was new to the area and needed a gyn for my annual check up. I waited over an hour in the lobby and then another 25 min in the room for the doctor. The doctor was offensive and callous and talked to me like I'm an idiot, even though I told her I'm in medical school and want to do OBGYN. I went out of the country the month after my appt, and the office left several voicemails while I was gone, all of which were rude and impatient. At the follow-up appointment, I waited 30 min before telling the front desk I was going to leave if they didn't see me; so they took me back where I waited 25 more minutes. They are not respectful of your time or your other obligations. I would not recommend this office to anyone. read more

If I could give them 0 stars, that's what I would give them. I had an appointment for my annual pap. First, it was bad enough that I had to wait in a crowded office for almost an hour after my appointment time. By the time I had gotten taken back and seen, it had been over an hour. But the wait time wasn't the problem. The initial nurse came in and did the usual Q&A -- I had recently gone off birth control and I felt like I needed to take a pregnancy test so I asked her if I could get a pregnancy test done that day. She said: "I'll have to ask them doctor." She left the room. About 5 minutes later, she came back and said: "The doctor said 'no', sorry." I had no idea if this was normal procedure but I had felt a very taken aback by this answer. If a woman wants a pregnancy test, why can't she get one from her OBG/YN? If this wasn't enough, it gets worse. Dr McCarren comes in, does the annual pap and says the same thing they always do: there are abnormal cells on your cervix and we need to get them checked. (Mind you, years ago when I was a teen, the same thing happened and when I couldn't afford the procedure, they told me to come back in 6mos for another pap and that one was clear. So, I avoided the costly procedure then.) The office was extremely busy so the nurses and doctors seemed to be in a rush. She asked me if I could do it right then, and feeling rushed, I said sure. That was the biggest mistake I made. Next thing I know, she's rushing in with tools. She takes less than ten minutes to do the procedure, didn't explain it to me at all, didn't seem to want to answer my questions and then took the sample and left. I was hit with a bill for $403. My insurance papers all said that the procedure was covered by insurance. So, I had to deal with that, as well. I called the office, they told me that I had to have my insurance deal with it. I forwarded them my papers and they said they were wrong (which they weren't). One of the ladies said she would call my insurance company to sort things out. I thought the situation was over. Until I got a call from collections this morning. Are you kidding me? Luckily, the lady who I talked to at collections noted that my insurance should have covered my bill and said that I would not receive calls for a little bit while it gets sorted out. I shouldn't have to go through all of this for a procedure that my insurance covered. It seems that Beaumont did not submit this to my insurance. I will NOT be back to this location and may never use Beaumont's services again thanks to this office's lack of compassion and competency. read more

I wish I was able to give 0 stars! I was told by the scheduler to arrive 15 minutes early for my 9:30 am appointment at this office. I actually arrived at 9:00 am. As I was in the waiting room, I saw several other patients come and go as well as my 9:30 am appointment. I absolutely needed to see the doctor today due to concerns I have. I notified the front desk at 10:30 am that I was still waiting and would need to leave so I could make it to work on time since my drive was about 30-40 minutes to & from home. The receptionist stated they couldn't help the busy day. Really?? So I am an expendable patient? I am an extremely busy working mother of 3 children and do not have time to just go hang out in physician waiting rooms. I called (586) 779-9400 as I was driving home because I had thought I would try to make an appointment again. Who answers a phone at a physicians office, "Can I help you?" with a terrible tone. She sounded as though she was having a very bad day. I asked, "Is this the OB/GYN in St. Clair Shores?" she states, "ahh no, Macomb." again as if she was irritated I had called or interrupted whatever she had been doing prior to answering the call. I just hung up. This was my first time at the Macomb office. The customer service was beyond poor and has left me with a terribly uncomfortable feeling. I'm also left to try and find a new provider for my OB/GYN care in which we all know can be an experience on it's own. Needless to say, this was the worst experience I have ever had at a doctors office and I will not be returning to the Macomb office or St. Clair Shores office. I am a new patient to this practice and I am pregnant. Upon my first visit I didn't even see a doctor but a NP. Usually not a problem, but for my first visit I shouldn't been seen by a doctor. I've had two appointments here, both times I waited almost 2 hours, with an appt. I have two little ones at home and I can't be inconsiderate to my sitter. My previous doc (who doesn't take my insurance anymore) would see my right away, their front desk staff was always super friendly (even at 8 am!), not the case here, they don't even say hello or look up when you sign in. If you make an appt to see a Dr chances are you probably won't, unless you wait 3-4 hours. The last 2 appointments I had they called to cancel on me. And then today I got there at 9:50am for my 10:10 appt and the doctor wasn't even there! He was at a hospital in Detroit. I wasn't even given the common courtesy of a phone call, and no other Dr could fit me in. I am beyond enraged and should have switched doctors months ago when he was unreliable. I also am going to that practice. I am 7 1/2 months pregnant and have had a great experience there. I have met all of the doctors that work there. They have you meet all of the doctors because yes, whoever is on call is whoever delivers your baby. That way it is not a stranger. I personally like that idea as most of my friends that have had their babies have not known their doctor. Personally I am glad that I get to meet them all!! The last thing I want is me going into labor and my doctor being annoyed that he or she had to come in on their day off! This way there are not going to be any surprises!! read more

I am a new patient at this practice and my visit today 07/20/2020 is my last. My first visit, which was approximately 04/2019 was very uncomfortable as the male doctor (Raphtis) told me how pretty my vagina looked to him. I brushed it off and thought maybe I was overreacting. Nevertheless, I instructed the staff that I never wanted to see him again. Fast forward a year later, the doctor (McCarren) I saw today was dismissive of my concerns, only for me to arrive at checkout and had to tell the MA what Dr. McCarren instructions were. The doctor documentation was not what she had said to me in her office. Then, I had to force them to follow through with a record's release in order to get my Rx filled. In the process of that; I spoke to the nurse who gave me miss information and when I corrected her she seemed agitated and transferred my call to the doctor's MA. I'm posting this review for my wife who is getting NST done without me in room. She is 37-1/2 weeks pregnant & had been waiting an 1-1/2 hours before being called in. Why make an appointment??? Why would a women's clinic make a woman that far along in a pregnancy wait that long in an uncomfortable chair? Why would you not have the availability for the husband/father come in the room for support? My wife likes the doctors but has expressed to me on more than one occasion of having to wait extremely long. I understand it happens from time to time but over 1-1/2 hours twice within 2 weeks? A better system should be implemented & wait times should be lowered by a lot. read more

After I said I was never coming back I decided to give them a second chance. My first experience the receptionist was rude and as I'm talking to her she asked someone else to help me because she needed to go to lunch. I waited 1 hour to be seen and once I got into the room it was another hour and a half. Well my 2nd experience I was the first appointment at 730 am. I was told I had to arrive 15 minutes early. When I talked to them on the phone they told me this was just a follow up appointment and it shouldn't be longer than a half hour since I would be the first appointment of the day. I told them I was just making sure because I was coming before work. Well i got there at 710, got called back around 735 and still was not seen by the doctor at 810. I walked out and was told he just got here he should be with you shortly. I said no thank you and left. I will never be back. I do not suggest going here. With my first pregnancy Dr. Raphtis canceled on me 3 times. I finally just decided to see a different doctor by then the baby had died and Dr. Raphtis acted like no big deal still never saw me. Pregnancy number two for my first ultrasound I was in the waiting room for two hours. My second ultrasound I waited 3 hours to see a doctor to be told they weren't going to do one just a pap smear even though that's not what I scheduled. To wait 3 hours for that was terrible by this time I was crying. Then they took me back into the waiting room because they also wanted to draw blood but that nurse was on lunch. I couldn't believe what they put pregnant women through. I will never go back they do not care about their patients. read more

I am new to the area seeking a new Dr. I was referred to two different locations,I gravitated toward this facility due to the websites allure. I called to seek an appointment for a near appointment. The person who answered my call was very friendly and accommodating. When I arrived for my appointment the staff working at the desk also demonstrated a personal persona. The nurse who took me back was rude and abrupt. I was hoping for a different outcome when I met the Dr., however; she was very rude from the beginning asking me "why wasn't I undressed". I explained to her the nurse told me to stay clothed so I would meet the Dr. for the first time before undressing, I thought this to be a pleasant and logical explanation. The Dr disagreed and told me to hold on so she could loudly discipline the nurse who had assisted me. It went downhill even further from there. She was cold, condescending, and patronizing. She only become somewhat friendly when I showed disdain for my experience. She then faked through the remaining unpleasant visit. It took everything I had to not dismiss myself during the appointment. As an adult women who was referred to this facility ( let me clarify that I was not referred to Dr K. that assisted me), I was surprised by the lack of customer service. It is not a secret these types of visits exude vulnerability, so it is disheartening when the medical staff treats a new patient so poorly. read more
