We've found the parish overall to be fantastic in that we never go to mass wondering if we're going to have some off the wall Homily that doesn't resemble the teachings of the Catholic Church the same goes for sending our eldest to Religious Education. Our experience with the sacraments (Marriage, Baptisms, First Eucharist) is that they are also just as strict about giving due reverence there as well. They also have had Tridentine Mass and Communion Rails before they were cool again. If you want a more "touchy feely" Catholic experience, there's always several churches up the road in Oakdale, Woodbury, and Stillwater. If you're looking for more of a traditional Catholic parish to strengthen your connection with God and understanding of the Catholic faith, Holy Trinity and St. Augustine are it.

Your kids aren't blonde haired, blue eyed, very skinny, and rich they will be brutally bullied and if your family doesn't have money the school will do nothing about it and brush it off. Lunches are free, but if your kid is in middle or high school and dares eat the main dish instead of getting a salad they will be looked down upon by their peers. There's a huge eating disorder culture here - the school store doesn't sell uniforms above an adult medium. If your family happens not to be white or white passing, you will be outcast and treated different. If you don't have a boatload of money and are on scholarship - you will be treated differently. Report any bullying or abuse from other students and they will sweep it under the rug to save face. The religion portion of the education is also extremely dated and extreme - very conservative - in 8th grade your child will watch every 70s abstinence video on the planet and be compared to a wrapped present. They have a pro-life club that actively campaigns at lunch to k-12 students. Class trips start happening in middle school and cost anywhere from $2000-20,000 and are anywhere from Chicago to China. Don't get me wrong, the education is spectacular and your student will be 2-3 grade levels ahead of public school students but if you don't fit the mold their mental health will suffer. The harsh reality is that there is a specific look and cadence to the type of student that fits in and is most welcomed here.

This school is great or terrible depending on what you are looking for in a school. Their curriculum includes Latin, Drama, Humane Letters, and Multivariable calculus. The unfortunate part is the school's emphasis on the Catholic faith. Most of the students belong to the school's overseer, People of Praise, and have known each other all their lives. This is very hard for a child outside the faith to come into. A sibling and I both attended here and both struggled to make friends. The social aspect of school is impossible to achieve here without being part of the Catholic faith. The school also is deplorably low in minorities and the differently-abled. Any child with a learning disability or mood disorder will have a hard time here and find little help, not because the teachers don't care, but because they aren't trained to handle those sorts of issues. Again, this is a great school academically. Many of the alumni become National Merit Scholars and go to Ivy League schools. The education is broad, but advanced, and the teachers are incredible.
