If you can love going to the dentist, I love St. Francis Dental. I have been a patient there for about 40 years.

I'll preface this review by stating that I'm in the military - and part of our creed declares our…read moreexpert and professionalism in our "craft" or skill-set as a Soldier. We demonstrate our skill-set as often as we execute our missions. In the civilian world Dr. Ness truly exemplifies what a professional should look like as a dentist, and he executes this art on a daily basis. This was my first visit to his office - and my mother-in-law (a retired dental hygienist) has taught me to be careful with new dentists, as many are only looking to gain $ from your visit (through fillings, crowns, and other expensive work). But Dr. Ness is not your typical "run of the mill" dentist. He invested a good portion of time with me inspecting each tooth himself, along with the help of his assistant. He tracked the stains of each tooth, documenting each tooth as he went. He took photos with a high-end camera (digital), and inspected the gums around each tooth, giving numerical ratings to everything. All of this information was inputted in his computer to compare progress on our next visit. The actual cleaning (also called "prophylaxis") was done very meticulously, as the plaque was removed with a steady hand. This resulted in a very cleaned and polished look and feel. I have a natural tendency to build up plaque in specific areas of my teeth and they took care of that with ease. Dr. Ness isn't afraid to use updated and modern technology in the art of dentistry, stays current with dental knowledge, and also (and maybe most importantly) cares about the individual as a whole and not just the mouth. I wholeheartedly support Dr. Ness's practice and actually look forward to the next visit 6 months from now.

I would not recommend this dental office based on my experience…read more I had 5 fillings done here in January, and I have had constant pain ever since. Shortly after the procedure I began experiencing severe sensitivity to hot, cold, and even room temperature food/drinks. The pain lingers and I now deal with random throbbing throughout the day. This is not normal and has not improved with time. When I went back to have this addressed, I asked to see a different dentist/team for a second set of eyes. They adjusted my bite and applied fluoride, but nothing changed. I was then told that if it still hurt after two months, it likely wouldn't get better. When I first asked for my X-rays, I was told they typically only send them to another dentist and was encouraged to come back in instead. Now that I've decided to seek a second opinion elsewhere, they sent my X-rays immediately with no attempt to resolve the issue further. The procedure itself was also a terrible experience. The numbing injection was extremely painful and sent a shock through my entire body that briefly left me feeling paralyzed. I have never had dental pain like this in my life, and it has significantly affected what and how I eat. At this point, I am seeking care elsewhere. If you value your health and comfort, I would strongly recommend getting a second opinion before committing to treatment here.

I came in for cavity fillings and left feeling disrespected and confused about my own bill. From…read morethe start, there was no intake process -- no paperwork, no forms, no verification of why I was even there. My hygienist mentioned we were addressing 3 cavities, but that was the only communication I got about the plan. After sitting in the chair for two hours, I was given a verbal total that shocked me. I was escorted to the consultation room. Before I'd even seen an invoice, the staff member started talking about collections and asked me point-blank if I'd "shown up today with the intention of not paying." I went in for dental care and ended up feeling like I was being interrogated as a criminal, not treated like a patient. After I paid a partial amount, I was finally handed a piece of paper, and the total on it didn't even match what I'd been told verbally. This isn't the first time a staff member has been snooty and condescending in the consultation room. When I called the next day to get clarity, I was met with a condescending tone and no real answers. When I raised concerns about how I'd been treated, the response was: "Thanks for the feedback, no one will be calling you back, ask more questions next time." No accountability, no follow-up, nothing. The office has a sign stating patients may be asked to leave if they're disrespectful to staff. Apparently that standard doesn't apply in reverse. If you value transparency about costs and basic respect as a patient, I'd look elsewhere.

The reason why most dentists get into the field is so they can inflict pain on others without legal repercussions. Everybody knows that. This one is different. He has somehow figured out how to whip your teeth into shape without using any pain compliance techniques. The equipment that they use is beyond state of the art. This stuff has not even been to Area 51 yet. I am pretty sure it is made from materials that have not been invented yet, at least on this planet.
