I love St Augustine and its rich history!! Came out here to celebrate my birthday the last two years and both times I had a blast. St George Street is the popular street in St George's Row. This vibrant and high energy hub is known for its boutiques, museums, restaurants and cultural history. It is what you would consider the heart of this city. Its historic charm is what drew me in. There are so many interesting shops to browse through and so many museums to visit. I have a love for horror and gory movies so we got to check out the Medieval Torture Museum while we were here. There's also a pirate and wax museum close by as well. Towards the end of St George Street, lies the oldest Catholic Church in the United States. The church is really beautiful inside and they have daily prayer services there as well. I can go on and on. There's just so much to see and do in this quaint town. If you've ever walked the ancient brick streets of St. Augustine in July when the temperatures are in the upper 90's and the dew point is close to 75 degrees you'll appreciate this air conditioned row of shops known as St. George's Row off of St. George Street - this is the heart of the shopping district and this row of eclectic shops is definitely worth your time. The hallway is lined with old school arcade machines including the famous Zoltan fortune teller and a fifty-one cent penny smashing machine with dies local to the area. The stores are unique, each specializing in a theme so whether you're looking for souvenirs or something practical chances are they will draw you in if only to window shop. I was looking for a soaker hat and this town is almost exclusively a "Panama Jack" town so I never found that exact piece of head gear that made me reach for my wallet but this is big town and a mecca for retailers so I'm hopeful. Very nice during the day but I watched someone pass out and needed to call 911 so that was distressing. Also noticed a bit of seediness with no police presence so while I was comfortable during the day I wasn't into walking around at night. Glad we stayed at an upscale hotel and had a rental car for getting around. many of the surrounding areas were rundown which explains the vibe I got. Interesting 18 stores line up in one strip. Good cover mall strip at the side of St. George Street. At the end is a Rendezvous restaurant. This restaurant has different countries beers. It is almost like beers world. The 18 stores are almost like handy craft stores. There some good idea for the gift. Some of the store are Best Gift Idea, Steampunk Trunk, Theater Magic, Artlantic, Fire & Pine. There are magic tricks you can buy if you want to perform yourself. The are strange store you can explore. The stroll is nice while we look and discover. Good when it rain, cold or too sunny. It give you temporary shelter. read more

It had a lot of places to eat and shop but a lot of the shops seems to repeat themselves with the same or very similar stores. St. George's Row is right off St. George's Street in the historic district of St. Augustine. It's indoors and there's a/c. Tons of shops down this row with a restaurant at the end. Most of them are touristy type shops like the ones you find on St. George Street. I still recommend talking a walk down St. George's Row and checking out the shops; there's some interesting things to see. It's also nice to get out of the heat for a while, and it's also a nice place to pop into if it starts raining. read more

An absolute must do in St. Augustine. This is also known as St. George street. It's in the downtown area of St. Augustine where the streets are cobblestone and all of the old homes and buildings have been converted to quaint little shops, restaurants and pubs. Tons of photo opportunities await you here so be sure to bring your camera. There's plenty to do and see for adults and kids alike. When I came we parked in a large parking garage and got out and explored the area on foot, but there are also trolleys if you'd prefer not to walk. We were there for about four hours and parking in the garage cost about $8. It's within walking distance of the Castillo de San Marcus, too, which is also a must see in St. Augustine! read more

Old town St. Augustine is one of my favorite places to spend a random day alone or with family or friends. Tons of unique stores and local businesses to peruse through while trying world famous chocolate, popcorn, pizza and many other snacks and eateries. Make sure to bring your camera, good walking shoes, cards/money and a good attitude. Some of the establishments are quite touristy, but with a little planning you can save on some of the attractions using coupons or check-ins with Yelp. I never get sick on this place. :) read more

I have been coming here all of my life. I used to be able to park behind the shops(western side)on St. George Street. They had meters, not now. Pay to park $10-13 dollars and the Valet parks your car for you. Not happy about this at all. A tourist city does not want tourists to park? Really? I am giving St. George Street a Five Star rating because they have nothing to do with the parking. St. George street is truly the place to go to stroll, shop, dine and people watch. I especially love the "Ring Man" that makes name rings. I wear mine everyday. When he sees me, he always stops and takes the time to clean my ring for me every time. Historic Street located in downtown historic Saint Augustine. There is plenty to see and do here including restaurant shops bars and even an old school house you can visit. The street itself is well preserved and be sure to be on the lookout for hallways with multiple stores in them. There are Kilwins shops on both ends of St George. Be sure to venture off of the main saint George row and see all of the various shops that are sprinkled throughout the side streets. You can easily walk to the fort from here. A lot of the restaurants have spectacular views as well since the water can be seen from several places. Overall: A Historic street with plenty to do. read more

St. George's Row is a tucked away air conditioned alley that is actually off the main drag otherwise known as St. George Street. The row has a lot of little shops inside it's cool hallway: a jerky/hot sauce shop, a soap shop, souvenir t-shirt, even a little place where you can build your own Alphabet Art collage (using detail photos of the world at large to spell a particular word). If you don't want to stop playing the part of the tourist, but you want to duck out of the heat for a few moments, St. George's Row is the place to do it. At the end, there's even small pub-style place - The Rendevous, I believe - boasting a large beer selection that rivals that of European Street. Knowing what I know about the area & surrounding tourist sights, The Row appears like it could have served as horse stalls back in the day. Each little shop is smaller than the stores you encounter on the main street but plenty big to have housed a horse at one time. read more

There is a lot to see and do in St. Augustine and St. George St. should be one of them. I didn't have much time so I was here in the middle of the day. It was sweltering. I was tired. And I was alone. Which is not the best combination for enjoying this lively, historical part of Old St. Augustine. But regardless of how I felt, I couldn't just skip it so I made my way down. I stopped at the City Gates, tasted some hot sauce it with datil pepper in it (can only be found in this area), got a Frozen Hot Chocolate, enjoyed a hearty meal at the Columbia, ducking in and out of stores, tasting samples, picking up souvenirs and gifts. It's a pricey area. It's also very busy. And every few buildings or so you can hear music and clapping, singing and dancing from the various bars, yes, even in the middle of the day. I also saw the Oldest Wooden Schoolhouse, which is right along the path. The area is simply beautiful. Parking is hard to find and very limited. I drove around for a while looking for something, and you can drive through some of the streets and its extremely awkward and embarrassing because they are narrow and flooded with people. So, what I ended up doing and highly recommend, is parking in front of the fort which is across the street and paying. The fee wasn't that high, I paid for like three hours I think and still had time leftover, but I did have to circle the lot about three times before something finally opened. If you're going to be in town for more than just a day, a lot of people recommended riding on the red trains (not the other ones) that take you from place to place. The cost is like $25 and you can use it more than one day I believe. I was only there for half a day so it wouldn't have been worth as you run on their schedule and even will a list of must see's, I simply ran out of time. On another note, I wanted to see a few other landmarks, like Flagler College and the Lightner Museum and they are within walking distance. I was really glad I parked where I did. When I was done seeing the sites, I strolled around the fort, took a break at the waters edge and then headed to the beach by car. read more

There are lots of cities with lots of walks. But the oldest city, making this the oldest city walk is something else. St Augustine is full of tourists traps and several are on this street. Starting with the city gates and going through just about the entire town. It is loaded with shops, restaurants, bars, and historic locations. If you do not wish to walk there are trolleys around town that will drop you to just about any historic destination. It is also right across the street from the historic Castillo de San Marcos. If you are in town this is a must do. read more

During our first visit 5 years ago I remember telling my husband how unique this street and area were with plenty of historical landmarks and then tucked into the mix is shopping. We lived in a very historical town as well previously and it was one or the other (downtown was strictly shopping and then other areas historically maintained). There is something for everyone here on this little street which can get very crowded. Now that we live here I've visited at different hours of the day and feel like during the week daytime (around lunch) is excellent or in the evening. Something to consider if you visit in the evening is that the tours and shops close early so try to check a few locations to gauge time. You can easily peek into all of the shops in one day but I recommend visiting multiple days to have the opportunity to tour the historical offerings as well as the unique shops. read more

It has been awhile since we have been to St. Augustine. Maybe 10 years now. I love the old shops full of different trinkets and what-nots. On one of the last visits we had our picture drawn by a (back then) street artist and we used it in our wedding invitations. The place is always crowded on most days. There are shops and many restaurants to be visited. Whatever taste you have from popsicles to Mexican to Italian. Funny I don't remember any Spanish restaurants thou. I hope it is not another 10 years before our next visit. read more

St. George St. is a really cool pedestrian street that runs from Cathedral Place, north to Orange St. I love strolling and shopping here. The small, privately owned shops offer merchandise different from the usual, cookie-cutter mall chain stores. Little surprises can be found everywhere, and to fit any budget. St. George's Row is a small mall which you enter from the street. It's under air, so it becomes your go-to place when you are in need of some a/c, or shelter form one of our famous Florida downpours. There are a few pretty cool shops in here to keep your interest for a little while. read more

AKA St George Street, opened as long as your grandmammy can remember. Streets lined with historical homes and buildings. You'll find the occasional iron "T" hanging off the side of a building where horses where once parked. Largest restaurant in area (and safest bet) is Columbia, while if you choose to just pick at food and have a brew there are many other little pubs with live music. Trolley tours of the old city can be found here and tours of the ol' haunts. If you're looking for local flavor of St Aug - it doesn't get more flavorful than this! read more
