Two years ago, when we put an addition onto our house, we also needed a retaining wall. We were…read moretalked into one long wall and were told it would look really nice with a walkway from the end of the driveway to the front door, and we reluctantly agreed. We finally decided to do what our gut told us to do in the first place: put steps through the wall so we could access the front entrance of the house. We researched MASONRY WORK and got a few recommendations and were ready to go until we saw the amazing work that Bricks & Stones did down the street for a person we know is very particular. Wayne is a one-man band, but he told us that two college kids would be interning until the end of August. We discussed what we wanted and he came up with suggestions about design, stones, pavers, and front steps. The estimate was fair and was presented in a professional way, with insurance, price, type of stone, etc., so there'd be no confusion. Work commenced about 2.5 months after I signed the contract. We now have an incredibly beautiful new walkway to the mudroom, gorgeous steps with granite caps, a curved walkway leading to the front door, and 7-ft-wide granite steps, which Wayne says probably weigh 7,000 lbs. We had to replace the rotted sill under the front door, but that was the only problem/additional expense we incurred. After the front steps were placed, I wasn't sure I liked them that much, but after the walkway was "installed," I changed my mind. We've had many exceptional vendors do work for us, but I believe Bricks & Stones is among the best. Wayne's attention to detail, work ethic, his precise measurements and leveling, and pride in his work are very impressive. These accolades are even more impressive, coming from someone who is a perfectionist in her own right, and coming from my husband, who has finally found his match, albeit in a different occupation.

This summer we finally decided to replace a terrible set of steps and walkway to the front door…read morethat I had a person put in 6 years ago. Within the first two years it started to fall apart and continued to fall apart over the years. I had called Bricks & Stones Unlimited three years before to put in a large patio and walkway to the back door and have enjoyed it so much. Wayne did a fantastic job and our neighbors think it is perfect for the small outdoor pit that we enjoy some nights. I called Wayne again for the front steps and again could not be more pleased with the work performed. The work was to install new granite steps for the front door and a curved walkway with granite steps to the driveway. I also asked Wayne to replace an old lamp post with a granite lamp post. There was also an additional look that we wanted to match some of the other stones around the house - and that was to have that look along both sides of the walkway to the front door granite steps. It looks fantastic. Wayne thinks of everything - the front yard was pretty much torn up due to the heavy equipment to put in the granite steps. Wayne raked it and then spread grass seed to get it back to how it was before he came. A nice professional touch.

Our yard is probably one of the most challenging yards you could imagine, set on a steep slope with a septic mound taking up the majority of the backyard which makes it difficult to do much with the space. We had recently purchased a new construction property and the seller (Justin Smith, The Homescout, LLC) bailed on the outdoor work before it was completed leaving us with a poorly built, unpermitted retaining wall and considerable grading and drainage issues. Littleton Earthworks came to the rescue and helped us mitigate many of the issues with creativity and thoughtfulness that we didn't see from the any of the other companies we spoke with. Dan from Earthworks proposed some great solutions and seemed to enjoy thinking through how to solve the problems at hand. The end result was so much better than we could have imagined and the regrading gave us a significant addition of usable space in the backyard. And, when we had a tropical storm come through the day after work was completed Dan came back with his crew to reseed and install an erosion control blanket for a nominal price, really going above and beyond. Adam's team just regrouted a stone retaining wall, repaved my driveway and added a cobblestone apron and border to the driveway. Adam recommended topping my retaining wall with bluestone rather than cement. Aesthetically, the entire look is 100% improved in two days of efficient and spotless work by the crew! On discussion of the project, Adam recognized and addressed that my town required a permit for the cobblestone apron portion. Work started within a week of the permit.
