I love walking around in parks all over the world to see how other people enjoy their lovely days. This park is quite nice and super safe while walking around. I found a lot of ducks walking around and also beautiful scenery everywhere. The trees are so beautiful here and just walking around the area. Take some time here and just enjoy the scenery!
My absolute favorite park in London. We were visiting Buckingham Palace and arrived early enough to spend a good amount of time wandering St. James Park. The park is easy to navigate around and has beautiful peaceful stops along the path. Although the park had a fair amount of people, it never felt crowded. Just be aware that since the spot is so close to Buckingham Palace there are quite a large number of tourist, myself included, checking out this location. There are tons of spots to sit and rest, either on the plentiful benches or throughout the grass area. The nature throughout the entire park from the birds to the trees to the blooming flowers made you feel like you were in your own little sanctuary nestled in the heart of such a huge city. Londons parks are the perfect place to take a break throughout the day and St James Park is one of the best.
One of London's eight Royal Parks, St. James's Park is nearly 57 acres. It's surrounded by three palaces: its namesake St. James's Palace, Westminster (now the Houses of Parliament) and Buckingham Palace. It is one of the smaller royal parks, but perhaps the most famous. The park's semi-circular flower beds - the Memorial Gardens - which sit beside Buckingham are one of its major attractions. The park also features a portion of the 7-mile Diana Princess of Wales Memorial Walk and provides habitat for various animal species, including foxes and ducks as well as its famed pelicans. Additionally, runners race through St. James's park as the final leg of the annual London Marathon. The majority of the park's area is covered by a big, long pond. Going around it is a pavement, and behind that - flower beds and trees. It's a weirdly peaceful and green place, for a city center.
Heyy yall!! This park is a great place to bring family!... besides the pond... my daughter was playing near it and FELL IN!! She's ok I think. I hope she'll shower off. But my son joshiph started eating the grass because he thought it was gummy worms. He's ok but yolo (please say that was funny)
Stunningly beautiful and peaceful! Hyde Park can't compete. The wildlife alone makes this park amazing! We saw a swan with signets resting right on the waters edge alongside the pink pelicans. Ducks, geese, were everywhere. As you walk along there were areas with huge trees and shade. We came upon a cottage with a beautiful vegetable garden and we chatted with the gardeners. They donate the bounty when they can and never use pesticides. I could have spent the entire day there!
Such a gorgeous park near all the main tourist attractions! There's a lake and so many trees and benches for sitting. I went on a beautiful and chill fall day and it was the perfect weather to just sit and people watch. Just 5 short minutes from this park is Buckingham Palace. Highly recommend this park if you visit London.
St. James Park is a beautiful and large park nestled in the heart of London. It's conveniently located near Buckingham Palace and the Horse Parade. This peaceful oasis offers a refreshing escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, providing ample greenery to unwind and enjoy. The park boasts a picturesque lake in the centre, home to a variety of wildlife, including ducks and other animals. Overall, St. James Park is a beautiful park that seamlessly blends the charm of a city with the tranquility of nature. If you're seeking a place to rest and rejuvenate, this is definitely a destination worth visiting.
Besides Hyde Park, this is my second favorite park in London. It is well paved and convenient to walk through when going to/from Buckingham palace. This park is really gorgeous and peaceful. My little one had a fun time at the children's playground. He also got so excited when seeing different kind of birds walking freely in the park. I know it's very tempting to feed the bird or squirrels, but please don't. There are signs everywhere to remind people not to do so. However, it's just sad that some tourists failed to recognize that and fed the animals here. I'd recommend to visit this park. You wont be disappointed. From here you can walk to Westminster within 12 minutes or so.
St. James' Park is the oldest royal park and is located in the heart of Westminster. The park includes The Mall and Horse Guards Parade, and is surrounded by landmarks such as Buckingham Palace, Clarence House, and Whitehall. There are trees, flowers, lakes with islands, bridges, a playground, wildlife, and walking paths throughout. It's a big, beautiful green space in this bustling city that's worth a stroll if you're nearby and can be easily added to any itinerary. We found ourselves here after a visit to Westminster Abbey. It was on our way to Buckingham Palace so we decided to walk through the park instead of walking along The Mall, which we've done on a previous trip. It was nice to see so many people out and about and enjoying the sunshine. We were here during the summer and we did notice a lot of pollen in the air. For those with allergies, bring some tissue :)
Large beautiful park in the heart of London. I only saw a small portion of it, but I'm sure I'll be back at some point. My kid really liked the variety of wildlife here and the large green space to run wild. As usual, I really appreciate the massive trees, as I'm from an area where trees burn before they reach any height of significance.

For me, I also enjoy just wandering the old alleyways and historic parks. One such park is St. James Park and Lake. St. James Park dates to 1603 and is sandwiched between Buckingham Palace and the River Thames. Not a stones throw from the legendary Nottingham. Maybe not as ancient as Robin's forest, but can you imagine the stories the trees could tell? If only. How many royals wandered in my footsteps? And to think that this historic park survived the Great London Fire of 1666! Surviving even the bombs of WWII. Astonishing! And here she still sits ready for the next generation of Brits to roam. As I wandered the park I came across a lake with an island in the centre. I noticed ducks and aquatic birds and such. And even more ducks and geese. Of course, the tiny island is called duck island! Genius lol! I also enjoyed the historic statues and monuments scattered across the 57 acres. Just a great place to wander. All in all, I recommend St. James Park. It's almost inevitable if in Westminster. Sadly, I didn't come across my Lady of the Lake or young Maid Marion. Ahh if only. Then again Excalibur has yet to be found too... Ta! It's a fairytale filled with bright green fields, vibrant flowers, beautiful shaded paths, and rampant wildlife. The gorgeous lake just ties everything in together so perfectly. It's charming. Graceful. Serene. Everything that you long for in a storybook park. Strolling through St. James Park was like therapy for my soul. Every smell was a breathe of fresh air. Every sight was food for my eyes. Every sound was music to my ears. Every moment was pure bliss. And even though the clock was ticking, it felt like time just slowed down. Watching the geese roam through the grass and seeing the beautiful swans swim across the lake was so calming. And all of the picturesque views of the park just priceless. I enjoyed each and every moment spent roaming through this lovely park. The paths are wide and shaded by the most gorgeous trees you can wander through the park and stop by so many famous landmarks. Buckingham Palace will literally be right at your feet. I mean, you could literally spend your entire day here. Bring your lunch and find a nice shady space on the grass and just chill. Or get some exercise while taking in the beautiful views along the walking paths. Also for all of your flower heads. There are tons and TONS of vibrant flower gardens throughout this park. A total beauty! If you get hungry, they have street vendors along a few of the paths. Restaurants aren't too far away, and there are signs that will tell you what landmarks are restrooms are nearby. London's Park game is somethin' serious, and St. James' Park was one of my absolute favorites to visit. When in London, you should definitely put a visit to this amazing park at the top of your list.
The park is beautiful and there are green parakeets in there that are very tame! After standing in the sun for the changing of the guard at nearby Buckingham Palace, the shade of the park was quite welcome. There is lots more to discover in the park, but we enjoyed what we saw.
We walked thru St.James Park on our way to Buckingham Palace. This is the oldest Royal Park in London. Over 57 acres with a small lake,it borders Buckingham Palace and the Clarence House. Many benches through the park as well as a nice kids play area. We loved watching all the various ducks and other waterfowl in the lake. read more

This place is beautiful. It is an oasis within the busy city. There is a great view from the pond that has all of the birds in it of the London Eye. The parade grounds are right across the street, as well as the Chuchill War Rooms. There are magnificent war monuments as well, and beautiful gardens, including peonies. The walk to Buckingham Palace is great within the park. What is fantastic about this park is that people utilize it. They work in it, play in it, and relax in it. I love it. read more

Right next to Buckingham Palace, this park is gorgeous and large. While pretty in the winter, I can only imagine how beautiful it is in the sprint and summer. The lake was full of ducks, breathtaking swans, and pelicans. Yes, pelicans. They were gifted to London from the Russian ambassador in the 1600s (this was one of the stops during our Sandeman walking tour.) The park was busy but it is large enough to not feel overly crowded. It would be lovely to have a picnic here in warm weather. read more
US tourist here, and really admiring your wonderful city and landscapes. This park is excellent and full of friendly smiling people. Kids playing and feeding birds, family's picnicking, joggers, company team building... just a real pleasant place to sit for a while. Just outstanding. read more

Located in central London - right by Buckingham Palace, in fact - St. James's Park is a relatively small but exceptionally beautiful patch of green in this city. Smack in the middle of the park is a long stretch of lake, and as a result St. James's Park is home to a number of water birds. A stroll through this area will give you a chance to spot ducks, geese, swans, and the park's famous colony of pelicans. And that's on top of its tree-dwelling birds, not to mention the numerous squirrels and other little mammals! So while it's a small park, it's definitely a must-visit for animal and bird lovers. My mother and I spent a couple of hours just enjoying the sights and sounds of the park's feathered residents. Since we visited in the fall the birds were the biggest thing to see, but I can only imagine how beautiful it must be here in the spring when things are blooming for the first time! I do need to mention, if you visit this park, please pay attention to any signs about feeding and not feeding its animal residents? Water fowl in particular can be cranky critters, and the squirrels are bold enough that I've seen them crawl right up people's legs to get to the food they're holding - so I worry that not obeying the rules could really lead to someone getting hurt. That's all I have to say about that. Head on over for a relaxing stroll if you're in the area - I definitely wish I could walk through St James's more often! read more
Nice lake with lots of birds! It's an improvement from Green Park. But it could be better. I was just afraid of all the birds here. There are so many because people like to feed them! I thought they were ready to attack and poop on me! read more

One of the original green spaces! Londoners take their parks seriously and St. James is well-maintained with so much to offer. There's the Princess Diana trail, gorgeous bridge views of Buckingham Palace and the Eye, ponds full of ducks, and so many gorgeous flowers. There are even lounge chairs to enjoy the area if the weather is cooperative. Come for a stroll or snap a pic with Queen Anne's Gate. read more
