I remember well the new building dedication on April 4, 1965 and the construction that ensued. Particularly the harrowing event when a wall under construction fell over. I discovered the attached Day of Dedication bulletin in my fathers library after his passing. I also discovered many reel-to-reel audio tapes of his sermons he preached while pastoring at Pisgah in the 1960's. Each week, Rev. Winter would mail these recorded sermons to Radio KLEX Station in Lexington, Missouri for airing on the weekly broadcast, The Family Altar Hour. I had the privilege of hanging out with the pastor of this church, Landon Whittsit, during a recent…read morevisit to the Kansas City Area. What a great guy! He is not only a plugged-in-techno-geeky all-around great guy, but he takes seriously the faith and his role as Pastor. A progressive blogger and podcaster, Landon has wonderful perspective on faith and culture. I did not have the opportunity to attend services at Liberty, but my guess is that it is traditional spiced up with some creative flare. If you are looking for a church in that area, I would definitely contact Landon and/or drop by for a visit. DISCLAIMER: Yes, I give every church FIVE STARS not because every church is superfantablous, but every church that I will review can certainly be a FIVER to someone. I will never review a church that I would not be willing to try myself if I were looking. No need to bad mouth freaky-scary churches because they are uh, well, freaky and scary.
