The exam was fine, though I don't think it's a Covid-safe environment (if you're worried - the computers are all in a tiny room, and only separated by cardboard. While we were distanced at 6 feet and masked, it's hard to believe that it's safe for that length of time). The check in was awful. We were all sent emails to arrive 45 minutes in advance (12:45), or we would be locked out. Myself and 2 others arrived 55 minutes in advance (in LA, being 10 minutes early isn't strange). One of the others with me had taken the exam prior, and was retaking it. She had driven down from Sacramento to be there. She said she had seen someone scolded at the prior exam in New York for coming too late, so she wanted to adhere to the emailed instructions. We went into the lobby of the building (a tight area that could barely fit the 3 of us, certainly not at 6 feet of distance), and saw the door was closed. Inside, two women were eating lunch, with their backs to us. We knocked, as the door said "Knock as a test is in progress" on multiple signs. They didn't acknowledge us or turn around in any way, so we assumed they hadn't heard. We knocked again. Again - no acknowledgement - not a wave or even a glance. We knocked a third time, slightly louder. One of the woman stormed over to us and yelled, inches from us, that it was their lunch break, and to get out and come back at 1 PM (15 minutes after we were told we would be locked out). She had no mask or face protection on while yelling. The other proctor was coughing repeatedly during the beginning of the exam, so it's safe to say, if we get COVID, it will be from her (I've been social distancing since March and haven't seen another person, as I work from home). Meanwhile, one of the other attendants with me was in tears - she came from an abusive home background, and being yelled at triggered emotional trauma for her. And then she had to go in and take a test! I can't imagine she'll do well, and feel bad for her going through that. I haven't been yelled at in that way, since, well, probably sometime when I was 5? I have no problem with authority figures or following basic instructions at all, but politeness is pretty easy to manage, especially in these tough times - and we were literally following *written instructions* at every step. All three of us. I'm genuinely appalled at the behavior of the proctor at this facility, and I can't believe they allow this behavior to continue. I assume this is the person mentioned in the other reviews. I hope this place gets shut down. It doesn't deserve to remain open, if this is the service they are providing (and, yes, I will report this elsewhere).

She took my belongings and safely stored it in a locked file cabinet without touching any of it. I took my exam, She printed my results, Got my stuff and I left. STRAIGHT TO THE POINT. FACILITY - I dropped a star because this place is unorganized and filthy. The floors looked like they haven't been vacuumed in months and someone was potting house plants inside. I was a little grossed out to touch the computers because of that. The place isn't massive enough that you can't vacuum daily. There is no excuse for that level of dirtiness especially if you're open and trying to compile with CDC protocols. I also dropped another star because the lady wasn't wearing a face mask. She wore a face shield but nothing covering her mouth. Not cool. Wearing a face shield does not replace having to wear a mask.

It is very hard to turn over your children for all day care while working. We needed to know that not only the school facility is safe but also that the teachers had similar views to us on how to raise children. My children love BHC and thrive there. The teachers are fantastic and communicative. Each day we receive a summary of what was done with pictures in a convenient app. We can also use the app to leave notes for teachers or mark vacations or absences. The curriculum at the school follows the same as other KinderCare Facilities. I think it is fun that the school has weekly themes such as The Farm or About Myself and the themes follow through in each classroom with age appropriate activities. I love that there is a regular schedule, the children know what to expect and when. There is the ability to buy lunch that is a hot meal from the professional kitchen at the businesses across the street. There are extracurricular classes such as phonics, music, math & soccer. Curriculum includes learning some basic Spanish also! The teachers are warm and loving and helpful and know how to assist in conflict resolution. They take the time to learn all the names of the students, parents and even siblings and some other key facts about each family. And one of the very best things are the friends my children & I have made. The school has created a community of current parents and past parents helping raise children together.

The school is one of the only accredited preschools in the area and that designation is deserved. In addition to a strong core curriculum, the school offers an additional program focused on music, phonics, and math. Last but not least, the school itself is nice and warm. The sensation I was left with was that the chance they get to milk money from me they will do it. They are also willing to burn a long term client for $30 dollars. Their payment policy is not open or inviting for a long term business relationship. They give you $10 discount if you pay 5 classes in advance ( $65 x hr). If not you pay $75 the hour and in advance as well. In today's market, flexibility and keeping up with market trends is key to making business fresh and alive. So if you as a parents are seeking for a quick alternative for your child to get through exams and finals, go for this tutoring center, but it is a quick fix. If you are seeking for a long term tutoring with client accommodation go somewhere else even if other tutoring places are more expensive. For long term and regular tutoring as an option it is best to have flexibility in payment processing.They don't have Venmo, PayPal, etc. they write your credit card number on a paper and keep it on file.We are already struggling, juggling life to help our children be their best, to complicate with tutoring hassles when there are lots of tutoring options. I have debated writing this review for a long time, but I believe parents deserve to hear the…read moreexperiences of other families before making such an important decision about where to send their children. Our family had a very deep connection to St. Finbar. My children received their sacraments there. My husband and I were married there. We were not outsiders--we were part of this parish community and trusted St. Finbar with our children and our family's faith. Unfortunately, our experience ended in a way I never could have imagined. I was banned from the school from Ms. Azar after advocating for families and children and speaking up about concerns that I genuinely believed needed to be addressed. I was not trying to create conflict. I was trying to protect children and families and use my voice as a mother. The most upsetting part was being told by the principal Ms. Azar I could not pick up my own 3-year-old from the Early fours program. That I had to figure it out. To ask a neighbor a friend to get my children. As a mother, that was devastating. I felt that my voice and my role as my child's parent were completely disregarded. I had no choice to remove her a few months in. What made this even harder was feeling that there was no one willing to step in and advocate for our family. We decided to let my son finish his last year at St. Finbar when the school year ended, instead of pulling him out right away. But he experienced significant stress during this period. That is something I will never forget. Whatever disagreements adults may have, children should not have to carry the emotional consequences. I was also extremely disappointed by the way a private email to the principal Ms. Azar I had written was handled. Instead of feeling that my concerns were treated confidentially and professionally, I felt that the contents of my email became a subject of gossip. That destroyed a great deal of the trust I had in the administration. And then there was the religious side of this experience. This is a Catholic school and parish. We chose St. Finbar because we believed faith, compassion, forgiveness, family, and doing what is right would actually guide the way difficult situations were handled. My children received their sacraments there. We were married there. We invested years of our lives into this community. When we needed pastoral support the most, I personally did not feel that support. That was heartbreaking. What makes this especially difficult for me is that St. Finbar's current mission says the school strives to recognize the dignity, uniqueness, and value of every person and to provide an environment where students can grow spiritually, psychologically, socially and physically. My family's experience did not feel consistent with those values. I also want parents to understand that the school's current handbook contains very specific language regarding parents who raise concerns and the circumstances under which a family can be asked to leave. I encourage every parent considering St. Finbar to read the handbook carefully and understand the school's policies before enrolling. By the grace of God we left on our own! I am not writing this review to tell anyone what decision to make. I am writing it because I wish someone had encouraged me to look beyond the school tours, the beautiful Catholic messaging, and the promises of community and ask harder questions. Ask how they handle parents who disagree with administration. Ask how complaints are handled. Ask how confidential parent communications are treated. Ask what happens when a parent advocates strongly for their child or other children. Ask how adult conflicts are kept away from children. And most importantly, talk to current and former families--not just the school administration. Please do your own research. I sincerely hope other families have had a better experience than ours. But based on what happened to my family, I would personally choose another school and encourage parents to thoroughly investigate all of their options before making a commitment to St. Finbar. We gave this school our trust, our time, our faith, and our children. I will always regret that when I finally spoke up for what I believed was right, I felt that I was punished for using my voice. Parents should never have to choose between protecting children and staying in good standing with their school. That is my experience. And I believe parents deserve to know it.
