I don't know why, but the students that use this place are horribly disrespectful and grotesque like they have no manners. It's really a shame that such a nice resource is ruined by churlish brats. Maybe come on weekday morning to peruse the book titles. But don't stay past 1:00 because You Will Regret It!!

I prefer visiting local libraries than going to your standard fedex or copy companies. If you need to make a copy, scan or just need WiFi and close to this location this is the place to do it. The copies are only 10cent and WiFi and computer are free unlike fedex which charges per minute to use their computers.

I wish I had known about this library when I was in school, this would have been an ideal place to come spread out and study. I do love a nice quiet place to study. As mentioned in a previous review, they do have small study rooms to use, which I love. The librarians are friendly, and I have never had an issue with anyone here. You can request items from other branches to be picked up here, which is nice. The parking lot is on the small side, but this is a small branch of the library. I really like coming here.

There's really not much more to say about Wagner Library, except for one cool discovery that I made in here. This library has tiny rooms with a desk, outlets, and a door. Between these private, underutilized spaces and the free wifi, I thought, "Hey, I could make this into an office." And that's what I did. All was moving along swimmingly. I was Yelping, I was Facebooking. I was Tweeting. And then I realized my office was lacking one crucial detail. I needed an assistant to bring me lattes and things. So I looked around, found the meekest looking person in that joint (not hard. this *is* a library), and started barking orders. "Thelma!" (Actually, I'm not sure what my assistant's name was, but I'm writing the checks here, so I can call her what I want, right? Well, technically, I'm not writing checks. Thelma is doing more of an internship, but this internship will be *great* experience (with college credit!), so I don't feel obligated to get into semantic arguments with you on this, ok? So anyway...) "Thelma, go get me a grande non-fat soy chai latte with a half shot of espresso extra hot...Thelma, go get me some of those Zuckerberg-style business cards that say 'I'm CEO, bitch' on them...Thelma, order me a gold-plated placard that says 'Do not disturb. Yelping in progress.'...Thelma, go get me some sexy panties for my date with Sergio tonight." Thelma did not budge. And that's where my experience at the Wagner Library went sour. You really cannot find good help these days. I offered this woman a huge opportunity to further her career and guess what? Nothing. The library was fine, my office was nice, but do not go to Wagner Library hoping to find a decent assistant.

I am a huge fan of the new-ish, beautiful, modern building that is the Nora Navra Library on St…read more Bernard Ave. between Claiborne and Miro. The building is light and airy with big glass windows looking out onto St. Bernard Ave. It is a truly new gorgeous facility with ALL the awesome features we have come to love about the New Orleans Public libraries; lots of books, magazines and newspapers to read, look through or borrow, a great selection of DVDs to borrow, and a whole section of computers for anyone to use. But the thing that brings me here the most is composting, on Tuesdays from 5:30-7pm you can bring frozen food waste to save it from the landfill. It is a program called Compost NOW and has pick-up dates at most of the public libraries.

If you're not a resident of the neighborhood, Hubell Library is just one of many reasons to take the ferry to historic Algiers Point. Don't miss it!

A little library history... this is one of only 3 Carnegie libraries…read more(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carnegie_library) still standing in New Orleans; the others are Nix on Carrollton and the Children's Resource Center on Napoleon. This is also one of the few NOPL libraries that didn't flood in K, but was still closed for several years because of roof/structural damage. This location is small but since the renovation (reopened 2013) it is a really efficient use of space. I love all the light that comes in through the windows. And that it is walking distance for many of the neighbors. The location is named after a library activist (don't you love them!) who ensured that the branch wasn't closed in the 1960s. Her family still maintains a separate website (from nutrias.org) for this location: http://www.hubbelllibrary.org/ While this is definitely not the closest public library for me, I usually try to make it over in December for their Christmas tree/wreath sale that benefits the library.

I came by to see my friend perform at Alvar Arts, which is a series of "artists interacting with an interested audience", held every month on the third Thursday from October 2012-March 2013. This last time around was a mixture of reading poetry and a jazz vocal performance accompanied by piano and a giant steel drum bowl... it has a real name but for some reason, Googling giant metal drum bowl isn't giving me anything. There was wine! And cheese! Although the space is small, this location has a large children's reading area, and a mix of books, DVDs, and CDs. There is a cute little aquarium by the check-out desk. The staff was very nice. I can see this to be a nice place to sit and read or study if you were in the Bywater some daytime looking for an air-conditioned spot to relax.
