The Worship itself is a mix with some traditional and contemporary elements. The congregation is very laid back and friendly. A wonderful place to serve both in the body of the church and for missions. A very giving congregation. I love going to this church. The pastor gives wonderful sermons and is a wonderful man, very humble. I would recommend that anyone who visits the church to do so. You will find a community of caring people.

We have 2 services with Sunday school teaching in between. The first service is at 9 am and is…read more more traditional in the sanctuary with pews. Singing hymns and choruses. The second service is in the Family Life Center with chairs and there is a praise band and contemporary music. Sunday school is at 10:10 am for children, youth and adults. The sermon is the same and special music is usually the same. There is a toddler and baby nursery in both services. Sunday's service was awesome. All but a handful of people went forward to the altar in both services. We also have sprouts and Bible basketball for the children on Wednesday night's and youth group (or ignite) on Sunday night at 7. There are also other groups going on throughout the church during the week like men's Bible study, women's bible study , walking exercixe, zumba, Seniors group, men's prayer breakfast the last Sunday of the month, An ensemble group, a choir that meets during holidays and now even a new crocheting group. Aww. This is my temple. I have had no other temples before thee. (Unless you count Children of…read moreIsrael, and really... it's all the same building, so I don't feel the least bit guilty.) I'm not going to rave nor be evil about the Temple. Most of my family in my generation had their b'nai mitzvot and confirmations here. There's a lot of history that makes this synagogue very dear to my heart. I subconsciously judge all other temples against this one (which is unfair -- but I don't care.) The rabbis have come and gone from this location most likely because of the quality of life and the shrinking Jewish community. Back in the 1980s, Rabbi Meyer was the man. There were other rabbis in other temples -- but Reb Meyer was by far THE rabbi. After he died, Rabbi Steinheart stuck around, followed by Rabbi Baron and now Rabbi Schonberger is the man in charge. Each man has/had his own style of teaching and mentoring the community. Not that there's anything anyone could do to change my mind that Reb Meyer was *THE GREATEST RABBI, EVER* but each man has done his best, I believe, to serve his community as best as he knew and knows how.

NWMC is great for both young and old. I have personally been to the conference twenty times and…read morehave been on staff five times. The first time is always the most difficult time because you might feel like you don't know anybody there, but by the end of the week you will be hugging people and knowing that you'll keep in touch with at least a couple of them for the rest of your life. Although it started as a conference for high-school aged students to learn about world missions, it has blossomed over time into a conference with programs for all ages. Some people relish conference as a time they can be away from the difficulties of their daily lives and be in a place where they feel like they can say a friendly "Hi" to anyone passing by (which you can do to just about anyone you see and not feel judged or made to feel awkward for doing so). Sometimes you see people with such painful lives back home that the end of conference becomes a really difficult time for them as they don't want to return to life's realities. But even if your home life is relatively great, there is so much to learn from the people you will meet at conference. You will see people from literally all around the world and interact with people who live in countries you may have never heard of. If you have kids, that is such a great thing to expose them to. The basic schedule is: you attend learning programs in the morning (Bible Hour, Morning Meeting, Institute Hour) and then your afternoon is unscheduled (although you can join things like volleyball, softball, choir, or just go swimming). It is also fun to shop in the Servv Gift Shop - which is like a much cooler version of Pier One and it supports workers in the poorest of countries. Then in the evening you have evening vespers (singing time plus hear a message) and the evening program (the evening program is kind of the main event). If you're a musical person, there are all kind of opportunities to learn and/or perform music. If you're an intellectual person, there are all kinds of people you can meet and have awesome discussions with. If you're a solitary person, there are so many nice areas to walk and be still (may I suggest a walk around Brittain Lake). And if you're a person who's trying to make friends, there is ample opportunity here. Whatever stage your faith life may find itself in, there is something meaningful to be gained by being here.
