I grew up attending a Christian Church and they welcomed everyone in the neighborhood. This is not a Christian environment. My Children and I were completely discriminated on. Jenna was very rude and the Principal kept ignoring/dodging my calls/messages. We definitely had the worst experience during our Tour etc... I still can't believe this is considered a Christian School. Be aware!! We gave them all of the proper Transcripts and they still turned us away. I can't wait to read your guilty response. My son went there for 8th grade and I wish we would have gone there earlier! The school is an absolute treasure and the atmosphere is wonderful. It feels like a big family. Academics were great and they did an amazing job offering different levels of math and reading to meet the students where they are at. I also truly enjoyed the parent community - no parent cliques and attitudes, everybody is welcome to help and participate in whatever capacity they can. The principal is amazing and the kids adore and respect her - she is a true gem! The 8th grade homeroom teacher was also incredible, as is the office staff. It was an all around positive experience and it's a school that lives what they preach. The school itself is clean, well set up with comfortable classrooms, great gym, amazing kitchen and a bowling alley! The pastor is wonderful and the kids get a well rounded education and they leave prepared and ready for the next chapter. Tuition is reasonable and a great value. I highly recommend St. John's! read more

Both of my girls went to three year old pre-school - 8th grade at St. John's. My youngest graduates this year. My oldest graduated in 2019 and was accepted to a top notch high school. St. John's prepared us for the next level in all the right ways! Each grade had many milestones and we loved every one. The teachers are amazing and we have had so many amazing memories. Too many to list but I'll try: Kindergarten graduation, volleyball, cheerleading, basketball, international night, the fun fairs (no more fish!), the 8th grade graduations, so many field trips, etc. We felt supported and cared for and have since the beginning. St. John's is a wonderful place to learn and grow. I was a student from 1994-2002, and a church member from 1994-2010 before I needed to leave to take a Call somewhere else. Deep in my heart, I always knew St. John's was home, and I am thrilled to be back as a member of the church AND the faculty. I can't say enough about the dedication of the teachers I was blessed to have and the teachers I am now blessed to call my colleagues. This warm, friendly, environment is unlike any other I've known. We have been a St. John's family for 9 years now. Our oldest daughter is a current 8th grader and our youngest daughter is a current 5th grader. I have to brag on the teachers and staff. They have all been very supportive and caring. I love that my girls have been challenged academically and morally. I appreciate how they are being taught good values of being kind, respectful, how to help and serve others. Which align with what is being taught at our home. Both have excelled tremendously in their academics and are above average in their test scores thanks to the amazingly dedicated teachers. St. John's has been a wonderful environment where my children feel safe, cared for, and part of a close knit family. I am confident that my children will continue to excel due to the foundation of a quality education that St. John's provides. We truly have been blessed by St. John's. read more

An update for y'all! My son is now graduating at the end of this month. I am so very happy with the education he has received. The teachers really care about the students and the kids are held to a high moral standard. It has been great to have such a close knit family for the last nine years. We are going to miss this next year, but I have a great confidence that he is more than ready to meet the high school world head on and is well prepared for what is to come. It has been worth every penny. You can't find a better school for your kids or family. The church connected is amazing as well! read more

We have called St. John's our school home for 5 years now and just had to give it a shout out on Yelp. We have always felt deeply cared for at St. John's, from everyone from the office staff to, of course, the teachers. The school has "chapel families" which puts a mix of kids from different grades together for chapel each week. So 6th graders get to know 1st graders, 2nd graders are able to "look up" to their 8th grade chapel buddies, etc. Kinda cool. We have appreciated the Christian education and just the overall morality being taught. Good values - being kind, serving others, etc. (AND they give us a discount for being regular church attenders - no "penalty" for not being Lutheran!) :-) St. John's kids regularly get into some of the best high schools in the city. The "high school prep" area really focuses on preparing them not only to get IN to the top schools, but to succeed at them! read more

I really enjoyed my years (K-8) at St. John's. The coursework was always age-appropriate and well-planned. The instructors and staff were all dedicated to the tasks of helping each student grow in knowledge, in faith and as a person. Both of our children have attended St. John's since preschool. Our oldest is in 3rd grade and our youngest is in 1st grade. The school has prepared them for life with strong academic skills and a strong set of Christian values. The teachers and staff are caring and get to know each child as an individual. The dedication shown by the teachers is outstanding and the care they take in making learning fun enhances the overall learning experience of our children. St. John's 8th graders consistently test into some of the best high schools in Chicago. This is a commitment by the high school prep teachers to make sure that they are well-prepared to take the skills learned at St. John's and use them to their full potential upon graduation. As a parent I feel the investment that I have made in my children's' education at St. John's is one of the best decisions I have made. I have been through 5 preschools with my 2 kids. This is the first school my son actually likes going to and doesn't fight me every morning. Mrs. Yerks is amazing creative and really cares about helping the kids progress from where they are at. I love that my son comes home and actually tells me Bible stories. I wish I knew they had a 3 and 4 year old class last year or he would have been here then. Each morning we walk in and there are already 4 tables of learning ready to happen that are new and different every day. St. John's is also super affordable. So grateful for the aftercare that is available til 6 everyday. read more
