The Pastor is young and energetic, while honoring the traditions of the Lutheran faith. The people are generous and friendly, with many great ways to reach out into the community and world. The sanctuary is open and welcoming. As with most communities of faith, one needs to look at a couple different perspectives to find a spiritual home. Good Shepherd offers a solid Lutheran liturgy, honoring the tradition while worshiping God. The community is also very dynamic, with a great eye for the larger Christian community. Their gifts are shared within the community and neighborhood with Bible studies, neighborhood party / rummage sale, and on site preschool. The larger, regional community is served by giving gifts to families in need for Holidays, serving with the Night Ministry in Chicago, and being an initiating member of an Interfaith Mission, serving communities within a few hours' drive. They also have a strong relationship with Lutheran Social Services of Illinois (LSSI), further serving the larger community, and having a international reach such as addressing malaria in Africa. I babysit my 2 year old grand nephew on Sundays and he attends bridge kids. At first my niece was nervous, she's a single mom and protective. One visit to bridge kids and that child can't wait for next week. I appreciate the investment Bridge places in their children's ministry and have experienced first hand what a 2 year old can learn and how what he's learning has impacted his life. He talks about Jesus and has made friends. There truly is the exact right space for every person, adult, college, high school, grade school and little ones at this church.

It was a place for my husband and I to grow and heal. You will hear God's truth revealed through scripture by expository preaching (going verse by verse of a chapter or section of a chapter in the bible.) You will NOT hear prosperity gospel, CRT, pro-choice, pro-LGBTQ+ lifestyles, or any other heretical things taught as "truth" because all those things are in opposition with God's order. These people know God, trust him, which leads them to obey him. They are NOT and will never be silent witnesses, BUT will fight and stand on the firm foundation of Christ for the sake that people may turn to God and repent to be reconciled with God through the perfect sacrifice of Jesus on the cross and have a personal relationship with him.
