People are coming back to church! This church is old and has quite a history. The entire building…read morewas raised after the 1900 storm. It's been restored and it looks really nice. I would change only the type of lighting used. It seems like it is LED but it should be a warmer color, as for the service it was excellent and the music was pretty and the people are nice. We enjoyed attending church here.

The diocese in Galveston has consolidated the parishes and the mass schedule has also been…read moreconsolidated. Sacred Heart no longer offers Saturday evening mass which is super sad for me. However, almost as pretty and just as friendly is St. Patrick Catholic Church a mile down Broadway. St. Patrick was pretty well demolished in 1900 by the Great Storm and rebuilt. Later it was raised 16 feet during the island wide grade raising. Now its survived Hurricane Ike. The priest said since the AC had broken at the start of Mass he would make his sermon really short. It was two sentences about loving your neighbor. Then he said, well I'm hot let's get this show on the road and everyone laughed while fanning themselves furiously with hymnals. How did anyone ever live in Galveston before AC? Wow.. HOT. Anyways, Mass isn't normally that short but the people of St. Patrick's sure have a good sense of humor. Second collection was for building maintenance, Father pointed out... including AC repair!.. I noticed everyone donated heavily hahahaha. Saturday Vigil 5:00 p.m. St. Patrick Church 7:00 p.m. Mary Star of the Sea Sunday Masses 7:30 a.m. Sacred Heart Church 8:00 a.m. Catholic Center at Crenshaw School-Bolivar 8:30 a.m. St. Patrick Church (Spanish) 9:00 a.m. Holy Rosary Church 10:30 a.m. St. Patrick Church 11:00 a.m. Sacred Heart Church 12:00 p.m. St. Patrick Church 1:30 p.m. St. Patrick Church (Spanish) Might I add... DiBella's Restaurant is very close by so we make 6:30 dinner reservations nad head straight from church to dinner. Take a walk on the seawall after dinner and then sleep in Sunday.

I've worshipped at this church a few times now, and it has always been a very positive experience…read more Being a Galveston transplant, I struggled finding a church home on the island. A couple friends of mine suggested that I try attending the morning service here, and I decided to give it a shot. I felt a ton of love from the moment that I first stepped into the building. I was greeted with smiles and handshakes from several church members. It felt like a true community where you could find not only believers but friends as well. The sanctuary is big enough that you don't feel cramped but small enough to also feel warm and inviting. Pastor Tre never fails to deliver an impactful and timely sermon. He won't always tell you what you want to hear, but he will tell you what you need to hear. And it'll definitely be from the heart and filled with the Holy Spirit. The praise and worship team is awesome and ministers in a very organic and compelling way. Another plus is that many young adults attend service here. As a millennial, that's always a good sign for me because it means that young people feel safe and respected inside those walls. That's not something that a lot of churches can brag about. Although I go back home to Houston to attend church with my mother on most Sundays, I'm glad to know that I have a place to fellowship with Christians whenever I spend a Sunday in Galveston!

Holy Spirit moving through this church. AMAZING to witness!!…read more So thankful that I had the opportunity to attend while visiting Texas!! Pastor Trey, love that God is using you to get His message out. Prayers for continued discernment!
