I graduated from Good Shepherd in 1987. My brothers and my sister graduated from G.S.S. as well. My…read moredaughter is in 8th Grade now and has been in that school since Pre-K. My son is in K this year and attended last year in Pre-K. Both of my children love that school. It has truly changed over the years and for the better. Good Shepherd is a community of Administration and Faculty that care for the needs of every child and work hard with all the parents to get those needs met. When you walk inside you feel a sense of being a part of an everlasting family and that feeling lasts even after your child(ren) has/have left that school. I truly appreciate the steps and measures that are taken to make my child's school experience a success. Thank you Good Shepherd!

I wouldn't take John K's review that seriously seeing that most of his reviews are 2 star ratings…read moreat bogus restaurants. He even takes the time to review chain stores like McDonalds, Subways, Staples, Home Depot. If you knew anything remotely close about good food you wouldn't be eating at those places. The guy is a joke, take it from someone who has a child attending the school. The teachers and staff are dedicated, caring, and up to par when compared to most schools in the area. I've attended a couple of their school events and they seem to genuinely care about the well- being of their students. Paying for this school means getting your money's worth because you know your child is being taught life lessons that will last them a life time. So I would completely disregard reviews coming from someone who gives majority of their reviews 1-2 stars not because the places are actually bad but because he/she is miserable. You could just tell he looks for the smallest reason to give companies bad reviews.

My family had relocated from Puerto Rico and I attended PS 90 (Sheridan Ave, Bronx, NY) between…read more1967 and 1968. It was at this school I learned English! Sad to see it has closed. Even more sad to learn some of the horror stories surrounding its closure, from all the bad comments and press releases from some years back. We moved to a building just across E166th St. I have fond and great memories, in particular from the teacher who patiently and lovingly taught me English. I came here knowing NOTHING of the then foreign language. What she taught me in those short 2 years, lasted a lifetime! I will always be grateful to her and this school. Regretfully, I can't remember the correct spelling of her name. I do remember it sounded like Mrs Schoudash. I had opportunities to learn piano and trumpet. I sang in a school chorus. Although I never pursued those skills further, they opened my eyes to new and wonderful opportunities. My imagination took off as a result of this school. My knowledge of the history of this country was initiated and fostered in this school. My love for this country was nurtured in this school. Please know, this school offered great things to the world and I was witness to it. After over half a century, I'm still pursuing some of those dreams born in P.S. 90!

This is your stereotypical inner city school. There is no playground. The afterschool programs…read moreare basically daycare programs for parents that want someone to watch their kids for a few more hours. There is no homework help. The kids are pushed through the grades, even if they don't know the stuff they should. The staff, for the most part, is rude, loud and agressive toward students. The students are not allowed to talk, step out of line, express themselves (even in art class) or play (even at break time). The children are constantly frustrated and bored, causing them to be aggressive and angry towards eachother, leading to several fights a day. The school does absolutely nothing to discipline the children, except yell at them like evil step-parents or call the local hospital to cart them off to the psych ward in an ambulance. Parents are not allowed to enter the school until 9 am, even to assist their child in bringing something (like a large tray of cupcakes) to class for a party. There are security guards that dress and act like Corrections Officers. Getting any issues resolved is like getting a root canal. In short... This place is run like a prison. It's no wonder these kids are always depressed and fighting with eachother. I sat in on an art class, and the teacher went off on a student because he folded his crayon colored picture in half so it would fit into his backpack. She started screaming about how he was being disrespectful by ruining art. They were told what colors to use, what to draw and how to draw it. There was no freedom of expression. Now, there are a few teachers at that school that are worth their weight in gold, but the classes are so crowded that they have no personal time with the children at all. The kids that need it, don't get the help they need, even in the afterschool programs that are supposed to tutor the children. They are not allowed to do their homework in the afterschool programs because it is treated like a seperate class with seperate assignments. If you can help it, never send your children here. While some parts of this school are good, they don't make up for it's deficiencies as a whole.
