I spoke to 4 different people and no one could explain what actually occurred. The teacher even initially claimed she came in with the bruise, which was still bleeding when I picked her up. I asked for a bandaid and requested the report. No one took this seriously- not the owners of the school or the admin there. They dismissed my inquiries. Hudsonway Immersion School (HWIS) has been a great experience for our family.  When looking for…read moreschools for our daughter to enter kindergarten we weren't looking for a private school.   We were determined to find our daughter a solid dual language Spanish program that offered the academic excellence, "true" language education/literacy, and the strong support system she deserved.  Many of the public schools we found did not meet our needs, but we found that HWIS hit all these marks and it opened our eyes to the possibilities for our daughter. Our daughter is shy, eager to learn, and takes time to be comfortable with new people.  Since the first day of school she adored her teacher, made friends, and seems to make new friends with the other children and staff members every week as she excitingly tells us stories about her day.  She comes home every day with a general sense of pride in what she learned. HWIS really focuses on building a strong culture,  nurturing a childs mind, and bringing phenomenal talent in the teachers and administration to ensure the school itself continue to improve. We feel that immersive education is far greater than other schools that teach other languages as an exercise of repetition and translation.  HWIS truly adheres to leverage the benefits of immersing the students with the language (Spanish /Mandarin) while teaching them the core  curriculum.  We feel we made the best possible choice for our daughter and have been extremely satisfied with her development and growth.

On the other side of the grounds there were swings, a jungle gym, monkey bars, and a slide. Mrs. Timmy was nice. Honestly I think I liked her because she was kind of a hottie. Mrs. Sweeney and Scarlatta were great teachers. The principal was a very nice dude. I don't remember his name. :( But he was compassionate when I was sent to him by Cami for sneaking into the girls locker room from the neighboring woodshop classroom after she dared me to. No one was in there and it didn't didn't seem like that big a deal.. such a betrayal!!! I cried. Wimpy then and now.. Also, my birdhouse leaked. And i lainted the ski hill shoe I made in Pottery class brown. Why would a ski hill, even one on a shoe, be brown? Huge mistake. Gross. I had a Venezuela country assignment in 5th grade. I remember something about lianas. I also studied George Washington Carver. I believe it was one of the first bigtime books I ever read. And I am still a big fan of Dr. Carver. People can talk smack, but he was the man. Innovation after innovation. People lack respect for humility and problem solvers. It's all about glory these days.. But back then it was Tina Turner and we weren't sure what love had to do with it, only that girls just wanna have fun. Benetton was in. At least for a while. Care Bears. And Mrs. Wertheimer and her frogs doled out some great assignments to create a faux historical document and also to debate a topic. I would say what I chose but it is very Un p.c. and I lost the debate. And to history. I was wrong. That was the last time.

The staff really cares for each student in the school and they work hard to help them succeed! I am continuously impressed with the teachers, administration and the support staff. They truly go out of their way to help the students. The administration is superb at working with the parents for a true partnership. I am so relieved and happy to have our student attending this fantastic educational institution.

She has thrived in a nurturing and compassionate community of small classes and dedicated teachers that rivals or exceeds the best private school learning experiences in Manhattan. It is a Catholic school but by no means a restrictive environment; the teachers are dynamic and foster character building, creativity, and love of learning. Now that they are in a school that is strong on compassion, character and competence (the motto), they are thriving. My son used to cry or play sick to try and get out of going to his public school. The happiness that I see in him now makes my heart feel so good and brings so much relief. My daughter loves having spanish everyday and swimming lessons at the Y. Both kids have probably learned more in the first 2 months at AOSJ than they learned at the public school in one year. They are very happy with the quick pace of learning and feel that they are finally being "seen" for who they are and the talents that they possess. There is tremendous room for academic and personal growth at AOSJ. It was a gem of a find!

It's a very good school, I went here up until 6th grade and even now what I learned here still…read morehelps me in this new school. If I hadn't moved away I would've stayed from 2nd-8th grade. You can really tell that the Teachers truly care for and know their students. The classes are small so you can really get to know the teachers and the students. The students there are very kind (As kind as Middle schoolers can be ) and I still find myself talking to them, despite being far away. This school has plenty extracurriculars and allows their students to tap into new interests or skills that can help in long term. The school does many fun things to raise money which helps families struggling with tuition. This school was an amazing experience for me and still teaches me things to this day.
