There is off-road parking just past the playground. I was a bit shocked to see the latch is broken so you can only keep the gate closed with a big yank. The playground equipment was in good order with nothing broken or needing maintenance. We used all of the equipment and the little one had a ball as did us big ones! I particularly liked the spinning stand and my husband liked the monkey bars! We will probably bring her back here next time we are in gawler. I only recommend making sure you check that gate is latched!!!!

Obviously this community likes its playground, and so they should. The equipment here is extremely new, bright, colourful and engaging. I would love to bring my daughter here. The entire play area is rubber floored and is designed for children 5 years and younger. It looks like such a fun place to be. There's a really large lawn area within the park, great for frisbee throwing or kicking a ball. The playground does get some shade from the trees around it. There's a bike track that runs behind this pretty little park. There are two lakes in the beautiful suburb of Mawson Lakes and always inspires me to get off my lazy butt and go for a massive marathon run that allows you to be see all the different expensive new houses and go around the lakes! You may be asking: "Why do you want to do that yourself, D?" Well, for one thing - because of the NBA lockout just recently...let's just say I've been getting my exercise cravings back again, and dying to watch my favourite NBA teams back on ESPN... BUT APPARENTLY I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT'S KEEPING TABS ON THE NBA! There are a few games on ONE HD, but it's just not as reliable as ESPN. Before I drift off into basketball la la land, I'll keep it relevant - apparently the word on the street is that people are getting fatter, spending way too much time watching TV and using the computer, and not getting enough exercise. I'm cautioning you, once you start a proper exercise routine, you will eventually become hooked to exercising...I have less time to exercise though due to the new yelping lifestyle (awww....stop making excuses, you say?). But seriously, even if you just spend 20-30 minutes having a light jog around Mawson Lakes - the work will sweat all your stress out, your body will love you and your mood will instantly lift up...instead of feeling sorry for myself...I just force myself to put on my trackpants and shoes! My body usually tells me when I need to whip my butt back into shape, I can just feel it in my bones. YEEHAH!! So if you're ever feeling slack, I recommend you try going for a run regularly around your local suburb for the next 30 days! When I go to Mawson Lakes...I just fall in love with the scenery! So go for it! Run around the lakes. Topless if you prefer. I guess I'm a sucker for exercise and being one with nature!

Lovely spot in Port Adelaide but very hard to find! Luckily I spotted it as we drove over the…read morebridge and made hubby drive back. Located behind the old Harts Mill, This playgrounds is full of mill related items/words. In essence - it's pretty damned cool. There is a sand pit area that resembles a flour packing station where you can move the sand around the play area using pulleys etc. A nice big flying fox, big climbing frame and running blocks are good additions. The number one sought after piece of equipment was the hamster wheel which the kids loved! Nice big slide you don't see these days and a baby swing that it's almost impossible to turn upside down so I felt very safe pushing the little one around. We had a ball and will be back again soon! Definitely recommend you take your kids here.

Bring meat and have a bbq or enjoy the cute The Mill Collective hanging over the water with the perfect view of the dolphins and pancakes all day. The setting can't be beat - water on one side, a heritage building on the other. Adelaide really is amazing that way. This is a recently upgraded playground in the trendy little Croydon shopping strip that is well…read moreshaded with trees, has a good fence all the way around and the major features of a train station directly next to it. Why is this a feature? Well this is a great place to come and teach your toddler to look at trains, what they are, how they operate and what happens around a railway crossing where the big flashing gantry comes down to stop the cars from going. The train is very visible from the playground. Also there's a theme in the playground that runs along the train line (pun intended) so that you can play on a story book type train that is stationary and looks like it couldn't really hurt a fly, and still observe the real train coming and going. This is a NO DOG playground - so leave the dog at home this time, because dogs don't understand trains or toddlers quite the way we'd like them to, and they require special instructions; so do not bring the dog. I repeat, do not bring the dog. I think it is brilliant because the train and train line is a dangerous thing for kids. It is such a fascinating place and seems perfect to walk along. There was even children recently killed on a train line, so it is worth thinking about an outing or two, on the train to this very playground for a picnic and a watch. What do trains do? They stop at the station, people get on, and then they chuff off. The cars stop for them and people stop for them. There are even elements of trains in the seating under the shady trees so you can point to something and say "That's a bit of the track that the trains run on," so you have a lot to learn as a grown up and as a kid in this very special playground. Yay. Or rather I should say "Whoohoo!"

This playground is split into a large section with a nice shady seating area, and then a smaller section for toddlers, complete with train to climb on. They have a very fun see saw to play on here as well as a basketball hoop and a barbecue area and plenty of space. Unfortunately there's no toilets here, so you have to go down to the shops if your little one wants to go. Otherwise a great place to relax and have a swing and watch the Choo Choo Trains go chugging by.

My only concern is its on a lake so the little kids need constant supervision as the playground is missing a gate, but the plus of this is the duckies, swans and other native birds. What this area is lacking is some shade. My goodness I felt hot and uncomfortable just looking at the place. I would recommend adults to check the equipment before little ones get their hands onto equipment that is too hot. Hidden gem for parents…read more My employer held its family Christmas BBQ here last year. The highlight was watching a small kid try to operate a big water fountain. To reach the spout he had to let go of the button. He was pretty quick! ...but not quick enough for a drink. Solid entertainment, until mum came to the rescue and held the button. Lots of positives: Being out front of the Aquatic Centre ensures adequate parking, clean toilets and added safety. Soft mats or sand surround all equipment, with a fence around the lot to keep 'em caged in. Outside of the fencing are two BBQ's, and of course there's the Aquatic Centre kiosk for treats. Don't forget hats and sunscreen, as the equipment's not shaded; however, there is a gazebo. Slides, forts, a small flying fox, a wheel chair swing (requires key from Aquatic Centre during opening hours) a four way swing and a maze. Your kids will love it. The little shits won't want to leave.

There is a sheltered seating area closer to the playground (not that anything is too far from anything else) but with the number of families that come through this playground in a day, you would need to get in early for a table. The whole playground is fenced and there are BBQs and table/chairs under the pine trees just outside the fence also. There is just SO much here for children to play on. I am definitely a fan of this playground but something held me back from giving it five stars…read more Perhaps it was the dated equipment, perhaps it was the lack of equipment designed for the much older children, perhaps it's the lack of shade over the playground, or perhaps it was the long distance to the toilets, I'm not sure but let me tell you what's great about this place. This playground is fully fenced and the entire space has a rubber flooring. There is a drinking fountain, tap, table/chair and BBQ all within close proximity to the playground. Unfortunately there isn't any shelter/shade over the table but with the massive gum trees in the park, there is some shade depending on the time you visit. This is a great place to come but for me, it slightly falls short of my 'destination' playground status. Maybe I'm having a bad day lol. There's PLENTY of space to kick a ball or throw a frisbee outside of the fenced playground area. *Dogs allowed* *Drinking fountain and tap* *Table/chair area (not sheltered)* *BBQ* *Toilets (walking distance)*

My kind of park is one that has a great moat of green protecting a toilet right in the middle. Nothing else actually matter. And a drinking fountain too? Benissimo! There's a wide area and plenty of space to play with balls. There's your usual playground. There's a barbecue. And that's about it. But there's nothing more you need. Of course, there could, perhaps, be a little more shade. We're in Australia, after all, not Siberia. But, regardless, this is a nice park. If it's your local park, it's worth being proud of.
