    fries and dill/garlic dip! yumm!
    Ashley G.

French fries and dill dipping sauce anyone? I never thought I would be so in love with this combination but it is delish! Their poutine is not too bad either. Also tried a couple of bites of the fish tacos and they were good. They also came with tortilla chips on the side and salsa which I thought were meh, would have been better with fries on the side!! ;) You do have the option to change your side to a salad, onions rings and so on, but for $1.99 extra. Their drink menu is very limited. The only girly sweet drinks on the menu that I saw were a couple of martini's. I ordered one for $7.99 and it was strong. I liked it, but not sure if I would get it again, maybe if they had a martini special I would!! The layout is nice and feels like you are downtown at a bar, without all the travelling, especially if you live close by. Service is alright, I mean the staff are all fresh meat, but the servers definitely tried to do their best. They had a full house around 6:00pm on a Friday night, which was nice to see! I can see myself coming here to sit at the bar on a Friday or Saturday night. Will be back!

    Buried Treasure cocktail $7.09

I had dinner here with my husband today. For pub food, it was very good. The thing I like about St. Louis Bar and Grill is that they have specials every day of the week, not just Monday - Thursday like most places. We both had their Angus burger and fries. Since it's Wednesday, the burger and fries were only $5. The regular price is $9.99. Domestic pints are also only $5 on Wednesdays. My husband had 2 pints. I had the "Buried Treasure" which was basically a mix between a margarita and a pina colada ($7.09). I love that their $5 burger special includes fries (unlike at Whispers where their $5 burger special is just the burger - a basket of fries will cost you an additional $5.99 (!) - don't even get me started about that!). The burger was good. It was thick and juicy. It wasn't a gourmet burger; it tasted like a mass produced burger, but for $5 it was a great value. It came with lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles. You have to pay extra if you want cheese or bacon. The bun was plain with no sesame seeds or poppy seeds (yay!). The bun was fresh and tasty. When I first saw the fries I thought I wouldn't like them because they were thick cut, but I actually loved them. They were so crispy, not starchy at all (like thick cut fries usually are - I'm looking at you, Kojax!). They were sort of ribbed/rippled, which I don't see a lot. We got a good quantity of fries. My drink was good. It was slushy and blended smoothly. It tasted literally like someone took a margarita and a pina colada and mixed them together. I love both drinks, so it was awesome! Service was good. Our server was Leah and she was friendly and competent. The place was packed and I noticed that a lot of people got the burger. The decor is typical pub decor. They have 9 TVs, all playing sports. It's in a strip mall close to the big Walmart but separate from it. The little strip with St. Louis has a Thai Express, a GNC, and at the time of the writing of this review a vacant spot for lease. There's free parking. There are not too many spots in the little strip where the restaurant is, but if it's full you can just park in the larger parking lot where Walmart, Bai Du, Zaki's etc. are and walk over. I would definitely come back for their specials :)

Pulled Pork Sandwich with Memphis BBQ sauce.

Been out here a few times the service seems to fluctuate. I've waited a long time for food when the place was empty, but gotten food right away while it's busy. The wait staff has always been friendly, though one night it seemed like our waitress had too much to drink. The wings are decent with a large selection of sauces; and come with fries and a garlic dill sauce. The fries are actually quite well done here. Also important to note, they keep a dedicated frier just for wings. This is wonderful news for people with life threatening allergies to fish and seafood, as it means their wings are not fried in the same oil as fish. Their pulled pork sandwich is wonderful and definitely worth it. They offer pulled pork with 2 different sauces: a Memphis BBQ, and a Honey BBQ.

This one of my favourite places to go to dinner. The service has always been quick and friendly. The food is so good; I actually dream about the honey garlic chicken and fries. There chippers are delicious, like cactus fries but crispier. For two people with one appetizer, 4 drinks, 2 meals, and a dessert it came to around $40.00. It doesn't get much better when the food is delicious and the prices are cheap! They also make a great margarita if you're in into that. Enjoy!

    Perfectly fried appetizers!

Their daily specials of the week are really good! I have tried the burger special, and the appetizer special and prefer the appetizer one. There is quite a variety of appetizers to choose from, and they are higher quality than your typical pub fare. Calamari is tender, and other fried items are cooked well. Come with friends are share them all together! The place is very large and gets busy as the night goes on, and its a great spot to be loud with friends.

No way! It has dark glass, so it is tough to see what is going on in there. But, be brave and give it a shot. Okay, first off - they do sell more than wine. They offer a number of good beers on tap - Harp, Kilkenny....Coor's Light...??? Okay, well most are good. And, they have about 20 bottled brands in the fridge. They also serve liquour and martinis. But, back to the wine. They have a huge menu, divided by countries - Canada, Italy, Australia, etc. And, you can have your wine by the glass or the 1/2 litre if you want to try more than one kind. Sports definitely is a theme - the tv shows all the big games. So, who knew wine and sports could go together so well? Definitely something for everyone at The Wood.

My beef dip was fantastic! It was stuffed with tender fall apart delicious braised beef. The meat was lean too, no gristely nor fatty bits, so I was a happy camper. It also had pickled vegetables in it (cauliflower, celery, green beans, pepper, and carrots). The pickled veggies were a tad too salty for my liking, but pickled vegetables tend to be. The bread was crusty on the outside and soft on the inside. I really enjoyed my sandwich. I didn't dip it into the beef drippings because I hate soggy bread and I don't like beef fat. The fries were excellent as well. They were hot, crispy, hand-cut and fresh. Maybe a tad over salted for my liking, but by no means excessively so. My husband had ordered penne as his pasta, but ended up getting spaghetti. Not a big deal, he didn't send it back, but of course spaghetti is a bit more difficult and less graceful to eat than penne, lol. He also said that the majority of the sausage (which was an add-on) was in a clump at the bottom of the dish, and not evenly distributed. He did enjoy the taste of his pasta and overall liked his meal. I had a taste, and creamy-sauced pastas are not my jam, so I wasn't a fan, but it's not something I would ever order. I did find it a bit on the salty side as well. Service was very good. Our server was Andrea and she was friendly, efficient, and attentive. Our waters were refilled when empty without prompting, and my husband was asked if he wanted another beer when he finished his first one. She also checked up on us and asked us how we were liking the food. We also had a man check up on us. I'm not sure if he's the owner or chef or who, but I appreciated it all the same. Decor is definitely pub-like. Lots of big screens playing sports and a large bar with bar stools lining the front. Washrooms are downstairs. Pubblico is where Agave Mexican Grill used to be. It's relatively new, I'd say within the last year or so. I'm glad to have such good eats within walking distance from my home. Will be back for sure! :)

The atmosphere is very hip, low-lit, and very thoughtfully decorated. I actually kept noting to my friends how much I loved the interior design of the place. I can see from my fellow Yelpers that this place used to be a little more hokey? Ha! Anyway, we were here on a Friday on what appeared to be a short-staffed night because our waitress seemed irritable. We let her know we were expecting more people but she didn't try that too hard to accommodate us (To be fair, my tardy friends had not made a reservation). Eventually we were able to spread across three booths so it worked out fine, but we were unable to move tables because of the pending karaoke setup. Musical chairs aside, the food was terrible to start with. My bf and I ordered the bruschetta and it was awful, amateur. Salty! Our entrees saved the night: he had pizza and I had wings, and we both enjoyed them. My friends complained about the calamari, noting they were rubbery. Couldn't take any pictures because of the dim lighting of the place. Anyway, based on the ambience of the place, I would return for a drink, but keep it intimate.

The beer isn't all that cheap and the selection is "meh" while the atmosphere isn't all that great (feels like a small town bar, complete with neon signs advertising Budweiser). The only redeeming quality is that they have Karaoke on friday nights, which is usually good entertainment. The Karaoke tends to attract the student crowd so is usually a lot of fun.
