Very beautiful church on lovely old grounds. The choir is a professional choir of about 15 or so,…read moreextremely beautiful music and organ. The service is what some people refer to as "high" but actually all the beauty seems to make it all the more personal in this space. The congregation is usually about 20 - 30 people, but sometimes gets to double those numbers. It's very peaceful, and solemn with shafts of sunglight beaming onto the altar space. St. Johns worships in a true Anglican style, and so much feels like of another time - until the Rector, Father Parker shares the sermon just standing in the aisle and just talks to the people, quite friendly and sort of personally connected. Some of us talked about being very moved by the sermon, and then with all the beautiful vestments and music it's quite compelling. Dont be fooled by the luxury of it all, it's quite intimate. I would say the service is focused, but not so serious that one leaves without a great feeling and a good message. The people there are very nice, and friendly. It has become my church, so perhaps I'm more biased now, but these were my impressions about 15 minutes after my first time at St. Johns.

Attended daily Masses here during the Octave of Easter, leading up to Divine Mercy Sunday. Mass was celebrated by a wonderful priest with an African accent who gave exceptional homilies on how to recognize Christ, and the importance of self-sacrifice. Church was filled with about 80 parishioners (an outstanding showing for a workweek Mass) At the end, we all prayed the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, intentions of the Holy Father, and a Rosary. I was impressed with how devout the attendees were in recalling the needs of the local sick members, prayers for all priests, persecuted Christians, and then reaching out to ask us if we had any intentions so that these wonderful strangers to me could pray for my needs as if it were their own! I haven't seen this level of sincere piety before! The church is laid out architecturally correct ("ad orientum" or facing East) with a proper high and low altar, proper Nave, Transept, and Atrium. Architecture appears to date to the early turn of the century (1901-1927). All in all, a beautiful church that must be seen to believed. Mahalo for reading my review.

When we were first moving to town and our son's new school said they had a new church plant that…read moremet in their library my family wasn't too sure about the idea of it. But since we knew where it was and it was closer than any other church we might be interested we figured we'd try it out. It was a little different the first few times as they were sometimes inside and sometimes outside (with the cicadas) but we kept going. Every week seemed like a new adventure. I'm so glad we stuck with it though. Pastor Peter gives great sermons and everyone is so welcoming. It's especially been nice for us to really get to know some of the teachers from Concordia Prep and their families. But there are also members of the recently closed First Lutheran. So there's a nice mix of generations. The music is also very blended between hymns and contemporary. If you want to be a part of a church in the making and don't want to get lost in the crowd, this is the church for you and your family. It's just one service a week right now. But I for one am excited to see programs develop and our church family grow.

The friendly staff told me outside of the church is open to the public so I could walk around and take photos. Let me tell you, the entire church grounds are kept in IMMACULATE conditions and it was a fun and relaxing time just walking around the area. I have not attended service there, but I could see it as place of sanctuary and repose (I'm sure it would be a bit more crowded during service hours though). It even has a church store so I am sure there is a lot of history to this place. Perhaps it would be worth looking into for yourself.
