First Baptist of Merritt Island is a stable, well established body of faith, and they demonstrate a…read moresincere love for the community in their daily outreaches. While holding to traditional biblical values and doctrine, they have pressed beyond the "stuffiness" often found in well established churches. And it's a refreshing balance to find tradition infused with innovation. We began looking for a church more than a year ago, and went down the list, watching services on line. (We really don't enjoy visiting new churches without first stalking them for a few weeks.) We were getting to the end of our list and then finally watched FBCMI and were blown away by their dedication to both foreign and domestic ministries, having multiple outlets to reach the hurting and lost people in our community. The pastor is accomplished with excellent expository peaching, and saturates his messages with a great balance of hope and humor, and inspires tough truth that also creates balance. He is magnificently articulate! The music team isn't deadlocked on old hymns, but also not obsessed with the most current top 20 worship songs. They are relatable, and sing songs that are easy to follow-and are rich with solid theology. They have an amazing nursery, and many failsafes that prevent unauthorized people to have contact with the children. They also had security posted at the nursery door. Our 3 year old immediately saw what was available and immediately abandoned us to start playing. Being a healthy church, they have a vibrant youth ministry, and a school. There are members who work with neurodivergent families. This place offers more than most! This is a vibrant, relevant body of faith that will meet our spiritual needs. Every Friday…read moreduring LENT there is a Soup, Salad, & Bread meal at no charge (donations welcome) at 5pm the homecooked food is great, it is a time to socialize and then at 6pm we pray the Stations of the Cross. There is a grief group meeting on Thursdays @ 5:30pm ending on 24 March. We are collecting long sleeve shirts (only) until 2 April to donate to migrant workers for sun and pesticide protection. On 24 March @ 6pm there is a one-night parish mission beginning @ 6pm. Every Thursday @ 5:30 -6:30 Adoration & Benediction. We always accept food donations and strongly support St. Vincent De Paul ministry activities. Everyone is welcome to attend Mass and our activities/events. Only Catholics in good standing may receive communion. (Eucharist) as we believe it is the actual body & blood of Jesus.
