BEWARE!!!! DO NOT GO HERE! My wife had taken my son here as I was concerned about his teeth appearing jagged and having brown spots. He is under the age of 2 and does not eat sweets or juices, so I was a bit shocked by the situation. The dentist here looked at his teeth and basically said nothing and just to keep brushing his teeth. I had her take him back again a few months later as the situation was getting worse. Again, the dentist said just to keep brushing his teeth, but not to worry it won't affect his adult teeth later.
This dentist only visually looked at the teeth, but did not touch them with his instruments or anything. I didn't feel he was doing an adequate job, and thank goodness I had my wife take my son to another dentist in the area. 1000x better service from both the staff and the dentist. Also, the dentist immediately asked several questions like, what are you feeding him, what does he drink, how often does he feed, etc. He also said that he will write a referral straight away for us to take him to a pediatrician to see if they can help with the current situation and fix it. It is definitely not nothing. I feel so bad for my little guy and that we wasted so many months doing nothing because of the incompetent dentist at this practice.
Teeth are very important, and even though your child has two sets, it can affect things long term. DO NOT TRUST THIS CLINIC with your health. AVOID AT ALL COST. I would seek legal action if it was worth it, but I feel that wouldn't help other people to avoid incompetence at the hands of this clinic, so I feel sharing this information with others will be more helpful.
*** UPDATE ***
I thought I would post my reply to another yelp user here, as I wrote this out of extreme disgust, but my points are very much valid and written with a clear mind. But the user asked if I thought I was being to harsh or that maybe the dentist had just a relaxed nature about the situation. Here is my response to the comment...
I hope it's not as extreme as it sounds, but it does seem so, and until I see a professional, qualified, and experienced medical practitioner, I won't know.
But after looking on the aap.org website, it seems that he has borderline extreme decay of ECC.
As far as the dentist having a relaxed approach, I consider anything relaxed in the medical profession incompetence and negligible. At the minimum, regardless of his/her stance, he/she should provide the patient with all the information surrounding his/her observations and provide medical advice. That is why you seek a professional. Otherwise, we can all just simply use Google to search medical journals and online material from trusted sources. In fact, I do most of this anyway, and by the time I actually get to the doctor, he is just confirming what I already researched. Anyone with determination, a brain, and the internet, can find most things. But of course, we should always seek medical advice from a professional to ensure we have the correct information, or in this case, to know that we have an incompetent doctor. A quick search on the internet after going to the good dentist, where he provided helpful information, I was able to see that the condition my child has is ECC...Early Childhood Caries. The aap.org website has a lot of information about this. It looks like the condition could have been from my son having a high carb (mostly rice and noodle dishes) and frequent night time breastfeeding. He doesn't drink any juice drinks, doesn't eat sweets, etc. So this is the reason why we were so surprised by the condition of his teeth and according to the first clown we met at this practice, he acted like it was nothing, and we didn't have any reason to not trust him and we didn't have any reason to think this was decay. But we definitely thought something was wrong.
Anyway, it seems it may just be due to the breastfeeding and refined carb diet, so we are planning to correct that as of today and hopefully when we see the doctor they can provide us with information on how to help slow this down (and hopefully reverse it) as well as help with the food problem. Our son seems very picky about getting things other than noodles and rice. Even though we make the rice with bits of meat and vegetables, which he eats, percentage wise, it's definitely not enough.
I think in today's age, there are a lot of unqualified medical practitioners, and we really need to be careful about who we seek for medical advice. After this experience, I am going to make sure that I do not go to any practitioner unless they come recommended from a trusted source. As innocent as this was, i.e. picking the dentist, I didn't put much thought into it, I just went with whoever was closest. Now I'm a bit upset with myself that I was so "relaxed" about picking who to take my son to. I won't let my little guy down again. read more
