Detox at Aurora was safe and medically supervised.The staff answered all of our questions. After detox he went into the residence and worked hard for 30 days. The spiritual component was very beneficial.He participated in many aboriginal traditions that helped connect him to nature and a higher power, we are not aboriginal but something in the basic teachings really clicked. After discharge,unfortunately there was a relapse. The counsellors continued to work with us in getting him to return which turned into a stay in the long term care program that is offered. This program allows a chance to structure your days and attend meetings in the community to better prepare for sober living outside of a treatment centre. People compliment the food or clean facility or beautiful setting.But those things are only a small part. The key is putting in the work. The staff at Aurora were able to guide and supervise. The support of other clients was a big help. This centre gave our family the chance to heal. I am forever grateful for this.

I went to Aurora at the end of January, 2022. I've been meaning to write a review, but I wanted to…read morewrite more objectively than my emotions would permit. I gave one star for the great food and the other star is for the fact that, despite how ridiculously they run their detox unit, I got clean there. (I stayed clean, though, by going to another facility). Aurora is a joke. Or maybe a lie--like their website. 24/7 medical staff, my a$$. (They changed ownership about a year before I went, and they didn't bother to update most of their website. I didn't know this until I paid and went, of course.) It's a lot of money for a lot of shady shit, built on a foundation that might've once been good but is wobbly now. For more reasons than I can fit on a Yelp review, I can confidently say that this place is a money-grab. And their lack of transparency about what's going on with it as a business is sickening. Did you know they haven't paid their mortgage in 15 months? I'm afraid to even write about the inappropriate behaviour of the staff... Those who are still working there are possibly worse in their own ways than the guy who relapsed himself and sexted recent clients. I would hope for better in general... for genuine and real care. People go to these facilities because they need help. But despite their severely dwindling staff, they are still taking patients/customers--and they will take those unsuspecting and vulnerable people with them when they go down. It is really sad, what Aurora has done, and is doing. I'm not saying they haven't helped people get and stay clean, but the way they run their business makes that fact surprising. Based on what happened to me (and I ended up going to a different treatment centre out of MB anyway) it seems like they prey on the naive. I don't know. What I do know is that anyone seeking treatment, for themselves or their family, should go elsewhere. (Edited to fix a spelling error)
