My three daughters have attended this school and they have been taught to be responsible and respectful.

The education was alright and it included a Baptist/Christian curriculum since it was obviously a Baptist School. It was connected to the large Baptist Church across the street and I attended Sunday School here as well. There were so many cool hiding places in that big church across the street. HPBS used to have a school corporal punishment system and I remember my best friend getting paddled after school and living to tell about it. SInce this place closed, it has been reopened as a Charter School and I hope it stays open because it's a great place for the local community to utilize. It's gone through some refurbishment and the blacktops have been repaved but the lunch tables in the back by Rita still bring back a lot of memories.

My mother had high hopes sending me there from 2-8th grade expecting an exceptional moral and challenging curriculum. Instead, what we got was a bully for a recess attendant, a principal who loved the paddle, a mentally unstable, (possibly pedophile) teacher, under-supervised playtime (some older kids were doing a lot of naughty stuff in the bathrooms and on field trips), mismanagement of staff, and limited playtime (at times, we had to stand or were "benched" during entire recess because of only one student's behavior). There were a few diamonds in the rough, thank goodness (Mrs. Jeffers and Mrs. McCarther), but overall, knowing what I know now as a parent myself, the school was a joke, and a serious waste of money for hard-working parents.

At the time, we were looking for a school environment where teachers genuinely cared about both the academic and spiritual development of their students--and this school has exceeded our expectations in both areas. From the moment I toured the campus after school hours, I was impressed. Walking through the hallways and classrooms, I saw vibrant displays of student work that showed how engaged the students were and how much pride the teachers take in celebrating their efforts. What sets this school apart is its strong sense of community and the many opportunities it provides for students and families to come together. Throughout the year, there are events like Trunk or Treat, monthly family Mass, award ceremonies, Catholic Schools Week, and Teacher Appreciation Week--each thoughtfully planned and well attended. These events not only bring joy but also foster a real sense of belonging and partnership between school and home. We are incredibly grateful to be part of such a supportive and faith-filled school community, and we look forward to continuing to grow with it in the years to come.

I really appreciate how involved the entire school community is, from staff to families. It's a very family-oriented environment where everyone works together to support the kids. One of the things I value most is that the school helps build a strong foundation in faith, which is so important to us. We're truly grateful to be part of the San Miguel family!

I'd like to just say this high school was horrible anytime I reminisce back im left with horrible memories and trauma from the treatment I got at this school by staff and students. Ms. Garcia, other desk staff, nurses, teachers. The way they single handedly were able to isolate specific students and give false narratives and get away with so much I was not the only one. My grades were straight F's although I loved school I was depressed here staff tried to treat me like I was a troubled child yet I was being harassed and not left alone by staff. They told me I would not graduate and I'd have to go to continuation school, not long after I transferred to Huntington Park High in 2020 I got straight A's and B's and thrived and graduated with my class of 2022 and actually was ahead in most of my classes I even exceeded past the credits that were required, etc. Please consider where you enroll your children.
