We spent most of the day in the amusement arcade that has rides catered for toddlers and grown ups. They also have an arcade section and a bowling alley but we mainly stayed in the arcade section and played on the arcade games that give out tokens for us to collect and claim our prizes!

Parking was quite difficult, very busy in peak season unless you don't mind a walk when you can park in one of the town centrr car parks and walk to the pier.

Great library just outside the town centre in Southend. Set over several floors it has large…read morefiction and reference sections plus a separate area where you can use computers and the internet. There is also an children's area with books and decorations. It never seems to be very busy so it is nice and quiet and pleasant to browse for books to read in there. They also have DVDs, videos and CDs for loan as well as a quite large comic book/grahic novel section. The staff are helpful. Also there are often displays of art by local artists, which adds interest.

It has taken the council long enough to decide what to do with the Bandstand; removed from the…read moreseafront, cliff venue due to danger of cliff slippage, which is understandable. However, this excellent piece of Bandstand was placed in storage for a number of years. Until 2008 that is, the Bandstand has landed again in Priory Park. It's magic is undeniable, whether a large brass band belting out the theme tune Star Trek Next Generation or Saxology playing gorious melodies on a warm Sunday afternoon. This is now definitely a secret venue for the locals; visitors congregate down the seafront looking for the bandstand, saying Southend is not what is used to be without realising it is now tucked away in a calm place away from the noise of a busy seafront.

The computer system is brilliant, as it not only tell you which books are in stick but where in the library to find them You can also book computers to surf the internet, which is brilliant if your home computer gives up the ghost at the critical stage in a project or similar. In all, the best library in the Colchester area and highly recommended for readers of all ages.
