A quaint, damp, and unpolluted gem in London. You can roam the grounds without the smog and chaos of the city center, even find yourself alone most of the time, even during peak hours. Hauntingly dark with all the headstones jammed together in many corners, but tranquil and incredibly beautiful. A marvelous place to find a bit of peace amongst those who found it centuries ago.
The Hardy Tree is is one of those things you cannot fathom until up close and standing over the countless headstones, weathered and broken, buried in the dirt and surrounded by the tree roots that protect them. Because they were somewhat "manifest destiny-ed" and uprooted to make room for new developments, you can't help but feel a somber remorse for their owners' fates.
Definitely do step inside the church to check out the fine details, especially the overhead organ. read more
