Most unfriendly person I've met. My last one was a complete surprise and hid her wedding from me. It was then after talking with Sue that I actually second guessed St Scholastica for having this woman represent them but her attitude is anything but christian. She had no desire in trying to help and get a family together as a christian would try and do. I felt she was above the role of the church and most likely just wanted a paycheck. The church hands out wedding and baptismal certificates left and right without deeply reflecting on the sacraments. I can confirm that one of my kids have been inside a church since their ceremonies. Here they go through the formalities but don't stand behind the religion. Hope to never ever deal with Sue again and rarely have returned for church services here. They need to learn how to reach the youth at Mass and speak like everyone is old school Catholics. Times have changed..

From day one we fell in love with the church we have now been attending MBC as regular attenders and we have gotten more involved with the children's ministries which are top notch I myself volunteer in our technical department and our food pantry that is done on the first and third Wednesday of every month for Grundy County residents the pastoral staff always is there in a time of need and also for a good laugh they are very light hearted but also very serious about your walk with Christ we have grown so much since attending MBC our children look forward to going to all of the children's activities and especially the new echo ministry for the children they have their own church service on Saturday night as well as two services on Sunday mornings at 9:30 and 11:00 a.m. If you are looking for a church to call home this is the place Pastors Arol,Dave,Brent,Carlos,Nick & Jason are amazing. Programs for seniors teens adults. Fellowship friends and fun are a constant Joyce the Church Secretary is an amazing first impression as well and programs like Celebrate Recovery Divorce Care and Master's Men Breakfast for the men every Saturday are many reasons to call this church home! While we suspect that this church was originally a Joliet Diocese parish, it is now administered by the Augustinian Friars (OSAs instead of diocesan priests) along with the parish named Our Lady Of Good Counsel (considered a sister parish). In any event, the St. Bernard's parish and ministries were very nice. We were out and about and looking for a Catholic Church Mass one Saturday and happened upon St. Bernard's. It is a smaller church - along the lines of 500 to 600 seating - but one that doesn't lack for service. Since it is just off 143rd Street, you may have to look hard for it. We enjoyed the 4:30 Saturday liturgy, the Pastor who celebrated the Mass (Joe McCormick), and the people we met while we were there. This was a wonderful community that is bent on service rather than pomp and circumstance...we loved it. The physical layout is somewhat like a figure eight - one circle of the figure being the church proper, and the other circle being the common area where parishioners can meet and greet - on the day we were there it was set up to host an Italian Dinner for the parish. All in all this was a nice layout that was more attuned to the parishioners than the religious trimmings. About one mile away (on Parker Road) the parish has a building for the Religious Education classes and the rectory - both of which are planned (hoped) to be consolidated into the main church grounds (via the Goodings Grove school property) in the coming months. Inside the church part, there are no pews - only chairs, no kneelers - padded or otherwise, and the whole feel is that of a community closer to the basics than the trappings of office. It was a nice feeling. While a bit on the small side, this parish community has a lot to look forward to - the least of which is a growing and prosperous community. Recommended.
