I try eat at Grace and St. Peter's in Hamden, CT on most Sundays. I usually have my usual Sunday…read moremorning fare: a piece of bread and a sip of wine. Unlike other places I often visit, the bread at GASP, which is what the locals call the place, was more substantial than some of the other places I've visited. It seems to be baked by folks at GASP. I've been there before, and usually they have a nice ruby port to go with the bread, but recently, they've replaced it with a white wine. I prefer red with my bread, but it was still good. The service was good, although it can get a bit slow at times when they sing hymns with many verses. Sometimes they have a cabaret prior to the meal. If the Cherub Choir is performing, you are in for a treat. They are recently going through a change of management and I hope they keep much of their familiar old ambiance. For my second course, I had coffee and donuts. This was in a more casual part of the establishment, frequently referred to as the Brewster room. This second course, also called 'coffee hour' can be a bit hit or miss, depending on who is cooking, but it isn't something you should miss. It is also worth noting that they have a fantastic dinner on Friday evenings called "Dinner for a Dollar". Yup, a great meal for only a buck. You can't go wrong. I encourage people to visit Grace and St. Peter's frequently.

We loved the worship and message and felt spiritually refreshed! If we lived here, we would definitely be calling it our home church.

The church staff was friendly and the venue was great. Also as always, a fantastic service. Love the music and the sermon. They also provided coffee, lemon aid, cold water. The person did not include a name, reply email, or other contact. I double dog dare you to listen to the music embedded on this website and tell me again that these guys can't sing. This choir is invited to sing around the world. Your very cavalier attitude to Epi scopal churches in general, and Trinity in particular, makes me believe you trash churches as routine, as part of your schtick. I down vote all of your reviews, and anyone you rate low, I will assume to be the opposite. --- One clarification, I was pointing out that the congregation could not sing well, not the choir. I think this is an important distinction. I am impressed by this church's choir from the link attached; however, they were not performing at the week I visited the church, and the people in the congregation there really could not sing well. It's important to me to find a church where at least some substantial proportion of the congregation sings in harmony and with some level of passion or enthusiasm--I don't really care whether they're in tune or.have good tone. I just want some energy and harmony. -- I also think that this person was jumping to conclusions that I "trash churches as routine". I have had a more positive experience at other churches. However, my experience at the church was real and was not particularly positive, and I think it's not appropriate or constructive to dismiss me as a human being just because I did not find the church to be meaningful, relevant, or welcoming. That was my experience, and I felt it was a worthwhile thing to write about it.

A relationship with God is deeply personal and has nothing to do with how 'cool' a church is…read moredecorated... (how EVER to people tolerate going to 'church' in third world countries! UGH!) ...or how AMAZING a singer is (Dove Award singers only please!!!)... if you're not there for the RIGHT reasons and allow your spirit to be fed with SOMETHING from visiting with other believers...then you're there to judge and people bash. It's not about the bricks and mortar. It's not even about the PEOPLE! It's the walk and relationship. That simple. And. Anyone or any negative review of a CHURCH with anything less than "they assaulted me" or "the pastor punched me in the face" is kindaaa a little missing the point that that PERSONAL pursuit of worshiping God is...personal. If it's not for you, and you're looking for something different....then you gently acknowledge that you need something different the next week. Geesh. And Christians are supposed to be the judgemental ones.
