The people are what sold me at first. Everyone seems to be so friendly and thats rare here in New England. The worship is a good mix of uptempo and slow music and they mix it up each week with a choir or just using the guitar and a few singers. Pastor Will always bring a fresh message each week and seems to know a lot about current affairs. He is even on the radio sometimes filling in for Jim B. After each service people gather in the cafe and enjoy free food! Yes, they have a chef that prepares a mini meal buffet style each week. So I have nothing but nice things to say about NewLife. And oh I almost forgot their new property that they purchased last year is beautiful. Highly recommend you come and visit.

Nice breakout rooms , but they were a little small for the size of our crowd. Kitchen and common areas were adequate for the number of people. We really stretch the capacity of the church. Trinity Evangelical Free Church is an Evangelical Free Church (http://www.efca.org) located in…read moreWoodbridge, CT. I visited the church on October 18, 2009 (a cold rainy Sunday). The service began at 9:30 AM and ended about 10:45 AM (there is also an 11 AM service). This is a medium-sized church. The pews had capacity for 320, and I counted about 65 attenders (again, this was one of two services and a cold, wet morning which likely depressed attendance somewhat). The people are warm and friendly, but did not seek out visitors. The dress is business casual - there were people in sweatshirts and people in suits and ties - and the worship style is blended contemporary (worship band with guitars, drums, and violins) and traditional (organ and piano). The service was mostly music - both congregational singing and an old-fashioned choir that was well-trained and directed - with a mid-length sermon that was topical (on being "blessed", drawn from verses in Ephesians, Deuteronomy, and Acts - the church uses the New International Version (http://www.biblica.com/niv) of the Bible). Communion was also celebrated with elders handing out the elements. Overall, it was a comfortable experience at the church. The music was excellent, played by skilled individuals. And the church has a strong emphasis on service, both locally and internationally.

I visited the church's morning service on November 22, 2009. The service began at 10:30 AM and ended promptly at 11:30 AM. There is a "coffee fellowship time" after the service which I was not able to attend. First Baptist church is a small church - capacity for about 198 people, there were about 45 attenders the service I was there. The people are very friendly, going out of their way to seek out visitors after the service. The dress is business casual - ranging from button-up shirts to suits an ties The worship style is traditional, although there is a small part of the service in which worship choruses are sung. The church had a community feel with members speaking up during announcements, and being encouraged to chime in at designated times during the congregational prayer. The pastor's sermon was topical, somewhat wandering, and drawn from both an Old Testament and a New Testament passage that was read in full. While the congregational age ranged from about 30 to over 80, but definitely leaned toward the senior citizen range. Overall, it was a pleasant worship experience. This traditional church was warm and inviting.

Like many small churches, First Baptist is changing as younger families become members, and the desires for the worship format evolve. We love the church because of its strong commitment to the community and to the greater world community. Outreach programs not only reach the homeless and those seeking to conquer addictions, but help bring medical aid to other countries, and financial and work relief to areas in this country devastated by natural disasters suc as hurricane Katrina. The church is inclusive and welcoming, and the pastor brings the word to the congregation based on sound theology and a loving concern for all.
