Both my daughters went here from K-8th grade. They both had an excellent experience, made friends and entered high school well prepared.

Two of my children are now in college, one is in high school, and my youngest continues as a current student here. What impresses me most is the exceptional foundational academic preparation my children received. The skills and knowledge they gained at Saint Cecilia continue to serve them well in their educational journeys and beyond. Actually, my oldest college son said to me recently that if he lived in San Francisco and had children, he would send them to Saint Cecilia, wow. Beyond academics, Saint Cecilia creates a community where families belong. From cheering at CYO games to participating in beloved traditions like the annual crab feed, there's always something that brings everyone together. The school doesn't just educate your children; it invites your entire family to become part of the SC family.

I can't say enough good things about this school -- it truly feels like family. I went here myself,…read moreand now seeing the next generation experience the same sense of belonging and purpose makes it even more special. What sets this school apart is how it blends tradition, community, and service in such a natural, meaningful way. The teachers genuinely care, the faith-based foundation is strong, while valuing diversity and making those who aren't Catholic feel welcome. St. Cecilia students grow up grounded, confident, and kind. You'll see the impact in the friendships too -- lifelong bonds that bring alumni families back year after year. There's something rare and real about that kind of continuity in a big city like San Francisco. If you're looking for a place where your child will be known, supported, and part of something lasting -- this is it.

The things that do need work are the math (Since it was all in cantonese) and the science (We only started learning it in the 2nd half of the school year) Other than that, I would say that it is just an incredible school. I currently know cantonese fluently, and, I know a lot of math in a totally different language. I feel that this school should deserve at least a 4 star review.

This school is okay I guess. Most staff are nice, especially the janitor, music teachers,…read morelibrarian, garden teacher, elementary teachers, and athletics director. However, in middle school, homework load can get pretty large. My child typically stays up until 12am-2am just finishing up the homework. According to my kid, you can survive the school by finishing your work, to "stay in line", don't forget any of your materials, and essentially, maintain a grade of B or higher. Those who don't meet all of the criterion typically get yelled at constantly or called out. Be careful. (This is with an exception to the 7th ELA and 7th/8th science teacher, who thankfully yells at students who are seriously disrupting class or not doing their work). Also, keep in mind that there is currently no counselor or advisory classes. SEL classes are nonexistent. Yard is quite small in middle school. All 3 grades eat lunch there, have PE there, and sometimes have assemblies. 8th graders leave yard messy though, slightly disgusting even afterschool. Please appreciate the janitor! Absolutely no field trips in the middle school too, excluding the 8th grade CEP. Many students seem to be upset about that. Lockers are fairly small. Can't fit much. Teachers give students many heavy textbooks and workbooks, not even allowing locker usage in between classes unless ask teacher. Either you break your back, use the rusty lockers, or buy a rolling bag. Not to mention, my kid told me that a few other students there are quite rude, impulsive, and genuinely mean. Nothing is really done to stop them, even when they're told that they will be held back a grade, they just go move on and they don't get much penalty. Athletics are good, some assignments look very fun and colorful, most students are nice, events can be exciting, pretty decent school. Anyways, your choice whether you want to enroll in this school or not. Many reviews that were recently made are true though, so I would recommend reading them.

Ms Tara is nice but also has authority and kids need that. Within couple of days our daughter was in love with the school and the teachers. She would ask when she is going back during the holidays (or camps). She grew up so much and learned so much in this school. You can see all the kids were thriving. I am attaching a picture from the graduation party in the park when Ms Tara showed up and all the kids run towards her and hugged her. If that's not proof of love I don't know what is. We will dearly miss all the friends we made there and the sweet teachers. Ms Jessica and Ms Tiffany have mad hair braiding skills. I will send my kid with half loose hair and she will come home with princess hair! Anyway, I cannot recommend enough this school. Your kid will be taken care of and thought some serious writing, reading and math skills. My daughter can add to 20! She is not even 5! We will be sending our second when the time comes as we know this will be the best place to her too!

The team of Excel this year and last year is extremely nice and helpful and great. Before the new Excel team came in, my kid was lock outside and and can't get in Excel because he/she was playing with friends and came in Excel late....... appreciate for all your hard work of the team, we love you all. Please continue to have Excel program to help parents who can't pick up the child early. Thank you so much for the hard work and education and the knowledge that all teachers at Lakeshore school gave to the children. My child loves the school and the teachers. Especially thanks to Ms Fusscas , you are amazing teacher , you prepare for the kids to have foundation before they move on to middle, you find the sources to help the kids to have chances to move on and continue to move to great middle and high schools. As a parent, I am very admire your way of teaching and lead the kids to learn. You are patience and good heart. My kid said :' Ms Fusscas is very strict but I love her so much because she really into teaching and caring for us, she supports and encourages us when we need help.' Thank you Mr principal for always being there and late for all the kids and help us to get all the paperworks done when other schools ask. The only sad is Ms office assistant who is in Mr Principal office and help with paperwork and pick up phone. For many times, other schools asking for my kid reports they never get it. I went in many times , sit there , asked , called , almost begged her if I can open the file and do it myself. She is just a bit rude and doesn't send the works as requested from other schools when students transfer, but besides those, all is ok.

I made a lot of great friends and built wonderful memories, but unfortunately, there are systemic, severe issues plaguing this school.Like many schools in SFUSD, this campus suffers from a complete lack of proper maintenance. The conditions are deeply concerning: peeling flooring, a dirty cafeteria, severe understaffing, and a lack of security that contributes to frequent student fights. Basic restroom hygiene is also an issue, with students regularly urinating on the toilet seats. Furthermore, the auditorium has been neglected for years, filled with broken seating and broken stage lighting left unrepaired for way too long. The exterior of the school recently suffered from major safety and accessibility hazards, including missing sewer grates, missing pipe covers, a heavily rusted gate separating Aptos Park from the middle school, and a badly damaged sidewalk. Because the district ignored these issues, I took action and filed formal ADA and Williams complaints. After months of back-and-forth bureaucracy, I finally forced the district to rectify these hazards. While I didn't know about these complaint processes when I was actually attending the middle school, I am glad I can now use my voice to keep the exterior safe, accessible, and up to fire code by constantly pushing the district to do its job.
