Both my daughters went here from K-8th grade. They both had an excellent experience, made friends and entered high school well prepared.

Two of my children are now in college, one is in high school, and my youngest continues as a current student here. What impresses me most is the exceptional foundational academic preparation my children received. The skills and knowledge they gained at Saint Cecilia continue to serve them well in their educational journeys and beyond. Actually, my oldest college son said to me recently that if he lived in San Francisco and had children, he would send them to Saint Cecilia, wow. Beyond academics, Saint Cecilia creates a community where families belong. From cheering at CYO games to participating in beloved traditions like the annual crab feed, there's always something that brings everyone together. The school doesn't just educate your children; it invites your entire family to become part of the SC family.

I went here myself,…read moreand now seeing the next generation experience the same sense of belonging and purpose makes it even more special. What sets this school apart is how it blends tradition, community, and service in such a natural, meaningful way. The teachers genuinely care, the faith-based foundation is strong, while valuing diversity and making those who aren't Catholic feel welcome. St. Cecilia students grow up grounded, confident, and kind. You'll see the impact in the friendships too -- lifelong bonds that bring alumni families back year after year. There's something rare and real about that kind of continuity in a big city like San Francisco. If you're looking for a place where your child will be known, supported, and part of something lasting -- this is it.

Needless to say, we have a lot of history with this school! What has kept our family coming back is the sense of community. It's a relatively small school where teachers and staff really know the kids, and families know and support one another. My children have had teachers who genuinely care about them and want them to succeed, both academically and as people. I also appreciate that St. Brendan offers much more than academics. Between sports, music, art, school traditions, service and all of the activities that bring families together, the kids get a really well-rounded experience and a strong sense of belonging. St. Brendan has changed quite a bit since I was a student there. But the things that made it special to our family are still there. My kids are happy, they're learning, they have wonderful friends, and they feel very much at home at school. It's pretty meaningful to watch them grow up in a community that has been such a big part of our family for three generations. We're very happy to be here.

Our daughter has flourished in the challenging yet nurturing academic environment, and we have been especially impressed by how well the school supports her growth both academically and personally. What truly sets St. Brendan apart is its strong sense of community. Parents, teachers, and staff are all actively involved in creating a welcoming and supportive environment that has helped make St. Brendan one of the best elementary schools in San Francisco. In fact, much of our family's social life now revolves around the wonderful friendships and connections we have made through the St. Brendan community. Enrolling our daughter at St. Brendan was one of the best decisions we could have made for our family. We couldn't be happier with our experience.

Please continue to have Excel program to help parents who can't pick up the child early. Thank you so much for the hard work and education and the knowledge that all teachers at Lakeshore school gave to the children. My child loves the school and the teachers. Especially thanks to Ms Fusscas , you are amazing teacher , you prepare for the kids to have foundation before they move on to middle, you find the sources to help the kids to have chances to move on and continue to move to great middle and high schools. As a parent, I am very admire your way of teaching and lead the kids to learn. You are patience and good heart. My kid said :' Ms Fusscas is very strict but I love her so much because she really into teaching and caring for us, she supports and encourages us when we need help.' Thank you Mr principal for always being there and late for all the kids and help us to get all the paperworks done when other schools ask. The only sad is Ms office assistant who is in Mr Principal office and help with paperwork and pick up phone. For many times, other schools asking for my kid reports they never get it. I went in many times , sit there , asked , called , almost begged her if I can open the file and do it myself. She is just a bit rude and doesn't send the works as requested from other schools when students transfer, but besides those, all is ok.

Balanced Review: Incredible People, Severely Neglected Campus…read more The Good: Phenomenal Staff and Life-Changing SupportMy time here was defined by incredible people who genuinely care about students. Teachers like Mr. Hass, Ms. Nuval, and Mx. Dickinson were fantastic, helping me build wonderful memories and lifelong friendships. Furthermore, the specialized support I received here truly shaped who I am today. Working with Kris Langley and Dan Pearlstone at Vibe Speech Therapy during 7th and 8th grade--including their Minecraft socialization group--completely broke me out of my shell. While I heavily disliked going to the sessions as a middle schooler, looking back as a young adult, their creative and patient approaches gave me the real-world confidence to later handle a public-facing job out on Alcatraz. The Bad: Systemic Facility Neglect and Safety HazardsUnfortunately, the physical campus suffers from a complete lack of proper maintenance by SFUSD. The interior conditions are deeply concerning: peeling flooring, a dirty cafeteria, severe understaffing, and a lack of security that contributes to frequent student fights. Basic restroom hygiene is a major issue, and the auditorium has been neglected for years with broken seating and broken stage lighting. The Advocacy: Forcing Change The exterior recently suffered from major safety and accessibility hazards, including missing sewer grates, missing pipe covers, a heavily rusted gate separating Aptos Park, and a badly damaged sidewalk. Because the district ignored these issues, I took action and filed formal ADA and Williams complaints. After months of bureaucratic back-and-forth, I finally forced the district to rectify these hazards. I am glad I can now use my voice to keep the exterior safe, accessible, and up to fire code by constantly pushing the district to do its job.
