Woo hoo we hit the mother load of a sale at this St Vincent de Paul store. I love, love, love thrifting and I love to style clothes the way I want them on me. I am 65 and by golly I earned it! It is too much fun going thrifting because you never know what you will find. The prices are always good in my opinion, definitely better than Goodwill but on this day anything with a red barb was 1.49 with 50% off, yep you read that right, I got clothes for 75 cents! We were in the store several hours and also went to the next parking lot to also shop their home decor, vases, furniture, toys and the like as they bought an old big lots and turned it into this part of their business. I purchased clothes, jewelry, shoes, and purses on this day. I also had a great time with my girlfriend combing through all of the goods and she found a lot of great items also including clothes, home decor, vases, and things for her garden. I will definitely be stopping back in this thrift to see what other great finds we come up with. read more

I used to absolutely love digging through this thrift store. It was honestly one of my favorite places around the Cincinnati area to hunt for treasures. Recently they purchased another building and split the store into two sections, keeping home goods in one building and clothing in the other. At first that sounded like a wonderful idea, and I was excited to see how it would turn out. Unfortunately, the expansion hasn't quite had the effect I hoped for. While the space is larger now, it almost feels like it just created more space for junk. When everything was in one building, it felt like there were more hidden gems to uncover. Now it often feels pretty picked over, and a lot of what's left is broken items and random stuff. That said, the store does have a lot of variety. There are clearly organized sections with plenty to browse. The holiday area is huge, with large Christmas, Halloween, and Thanksgiving sections. There's also a big selection of wall art and picture frames, plus a dedicated kitchen section. You'll also find furniture, lamps, vases, technology items and cords, board games, and plenty of children's toys. I was also really unimpressed with the pricing. Some very basic items were priced at over $20 even though they clearly didn't have much value. These definitely weren't the fun thrift store prices you hope to find when you're treasure hunting. It felt more like retail pricing on secondhand items, which kind of takes away the excitement of thrifting. Unfortunately, the prices alone make this feel like one of the more expensive thrift stores rather than one of the good bargain spots. One thing that hasn't changed is how busy it is. The store is almost always packed, which shows it's still a popular spot. I just can't help feeling a little nostalgic for how it used to be when everything was together and it felt easier to stumble upon something special. Where do I begin: Let's start with THE STAFF. With the exception of ONLY a couple of people (I think their names are Diseree and Stevie ?), the rest of the staff is rude. When you ask them a question, they are so inconvenienced and will happily show their disdain toward you for asking a simple question. They do not want to be "bothered" by their customers. They gossip about one another, complain about management and their customers to one another (yes, customers do hear you talking!). It is so rude, tacky, child-like and unprofessional to do that! You must have learned that in kindergarten, correct? TOO MANY of them sit in their back staff breakroom where they talk, laugh and use foul language. Why aren't they out on the floor cleaning? stocking? There is ALWAYS something they cna clean, organize. The shelves are in such disarray, there is no LOGICAL reason to move one selection of shelf items to the shelf opposite. Keep it where it is. Consistency is important - customers like to walk in and go to a specific location when looking for something specific. Instead, we now have to play hide and seek because the shelves have moved yet again. RECORDS and DVD's should be housed together, out-of-the way so that if customers want to sit on the floor to look through them they can WITHOUT blocking the walkway for other customers. May I suggest they be moved to a less traveled area of the store, maybe the back corner where the missing puzzles and games are - opposite of the baby clothes. THE CRAFTS are out-of-control! Find a solution other than tossing items by the handful into those plastic totes. Maybe a gaylord can be used, in the parking lot, on a nice day and ALL these items can be dumped inside and sell everything for a quarter. That will give you an entire row of sheves to use for something else. PITCH the 1.99, used, stained plastic containers to make room for the $3.00 slightly used plastic containers. Be deliberate and mindful of what you are putting on the shelf. By the way, the jelly jars you have priced at $3.00 each should be a nickel. And they plastic wrapped fork and spoon you get from a drive-thru should be donated to a local soup kitchen instead of putting .50 per package. That is just pure greed. RESTROOM - Get it fixed! Stop being lazy about cleaning it. It is ridiculous that customers have to walk outside the store to another store to use their one disgusting restroom. CLEAN IT UP, man! There is NO WAY staff is using this filthy restroom. Let your customers use your Staff Only restroom until you clean, remodel, repair your existing restroom in the furniture building and by God open up the other restoom that has been Out of Order for 2+ years. I think you closed it because You didn't want to clean it. THE PRICES! Shame on you, shame on you, shame on you! The items are donated. These items do not cost you a dime so why then are you charging retail prices? Practice your supposed mission of helping people by lowering your prices. Store managers receive a quartely budget if they have XXX sales! That is but only one reason why the prices are jacked up. Here's a grand idea: If you reasonably priced your items at a fair price, you will move a lot more inventory.You will meet your sales goal. As it is, you are pricing yourself out of the game. The over-priced item will set there, week after week until it gets broken and then pitched = you just lost a sale. Your receiving crew is so careless with items being donated. They toss your item into a cart without any care, sometimes they drop the item on the concrete. Sometimes they hide an item they want to purchase. I have seen staff pull out the items they want, take them to their car and I guess take it home with them at no charge. MANAGEMENT - You need a professional manager. One that is respectful, knowledgeable, friendly, helpful. You need a complete overhaul in this department. Do I want to round up for the veterans? Absolutely, but first, YOUR STAFF needs to be able to communicate how SVDP helps the veterans with my extra cash. I have asked many of them, and they don't know what to say, they don't know how or if SVDP helps the veterans. How do I know the "round-up" isn't going to someones quarterly bonus? Your round-up campaign should be made available to the public how each dollar benefited the veterans. Why don't you announce the annual dollar amount raised by your customers rounding up their change? TRAIN YOUR CASHIERS - How to use the cash register, how to wrap fragile items, how to be thankful for the business we are providing you. If you had no customers, you would not need any cashiers. Mop the floors! It would make a huge difference! Clean the windows! Doing little things like this can make a BIG impact. Bottom line: Clean up your act, lower your prices, hire friendly staff. read more

Great products, great prices. But insulting, young, unprofessional staff who believe it's their right to harass shoppers for having a doggo in a car while it rains and you have windows opened. Don't shop here if you want to be harassed and preached to by young, arrogant, uninformed teenagers. Elevated my concerns to the manager and the Cincinnati board for handling. The new building is super fantastic. I only just returned to this store after being away for a little over a year. I loved the small store right next door before (which now holds the donations and furniture). The huge store next to it is their new location. I bought a really nice sofa for my daughter today. It needs cleaned and I plan on going this week with my steam vac and doing that. I'm secure that it will clean up spotless. The sofa pillows are filled with feathers and very heavy. I'm not sure if the brand because I don't really care. I'm not a label/brand whore. I feel fabrics and look at threads. The sofa was $10. Furniture was 50% off today so I left the store paying $5. The employees are helpful but if you go there bring help with you. Legally they cannot help you load your purchases. The only sucky thing about shopping there today was that Constance wasn't working. She is a doll and they are blessed to have such a beautiful soul as their employee. read more

I have shopped here since it first opened and it has progressively become a huge disappointment. Although ALL OF THE MERCHANDISE IS DONATED to St. Vincent de Paul, store management has slowly placed any item they perceive has value (by looking up prices LISTED not sold) on line, to exorbitant prices as well as placing ridiculous amount of merchandise behind the counter. There are dozens and dozens of items on the shelves that are broken, chipped, cracked and should be discarded but instead are given a price. It is appalling when a charity like St. Vincent de Paul is taking advantage of customers who truly need to shop for their families here and literally now can't afford a second hand store. Apparently upper management is not monitoring the over inflated pricing for a thrift store or the hiring of discourteous and unhelpful staff. read more

I haven't been here since they was next door in the old small building. I was surprised by how large the new building is. It was actually very well organized and looked a lot cleaner than most other thrift stores. Pricing was comparable to Goodwill. Clothing I felt wasn't as outdated as other thrift stores. I was actually really happy with this thrift store, the staff was super nice. The selection was quite decent and they have items that are seldomly found at other stores (e.g. make-up bags and computer mice (with the usb adapters that are almost always missing). I found some great deals on new condition, brand named items on my first visit. read more

Can't believe this location hasn't be reviewed yet- such a shame. It's not a bad location at all. It's your friendly neighborhood thrift store; you get what you get and you don't throw a fit. I live close by so I stop by fairly frequently looking for a gem in the rough. Really take some time to look around, we usually find some pretty good name brand stuff-for cheap. The store was huge! They had way to many items during my 2 hour visit I barley saw half of the store! On top of all of the great items, they have even more great prices!!! Now of days a goodwill would charge way to much we bought tons of awesome stuff a whole entire cart full of different things including a vintage cabbage patch doll, art set, a purse, a ton of picture frames and a bunch more stuff for less than $100.00 they are awesome here, & will definitely be taking my money, time, & business here!!! read more

The tall short haired woman that works during the day is rude. It seems she does not understand that SVDP it is a place people go to buy things that they need but can not afford elsewhere. Instead she quickly made my mother and I feel like an annoyance who should leave in lieu of bothering her. I use to like this location but its become dirty and smells. I have seen baby cockroaches on shelves in the isle where the baskets are. But what bugs me most is when I recently donated a box of over 20 brand new children's books and 2 children's electronic learning tools, both like new and one cost $40 brand new, I watched the guy look in the box and he threw the entire box in the trash. As my husband was carrying our things to the man and lady outside, the man was throwing away what the lady before us had just dropped off. It was close to closing and maybe he didn't want to deal with stuff. But I found this to be outrageous that he would just throw brand new items in the trash. I will no longer visit this location. It has turned in to such a dump. And I will be telling everyone how they treat their donations. read more
