Spacious modern practice in Finnieston. I went for a check-up after not attending the dentist for over 10 years due to a bad experience. I was put at ease by all of the staff, I'll definitely be back in 6 months for my next check-up!! read more

I accept we were late. Had the reception staff told us when we phoned that we would be too late, I would happily have rearranged the appointment. I needed x-ray, was impressed to find I did not need to go to another room! Offered a choice of flavoured mouth washes. A nice touch! Was very impressed with the Hygienist, sensitive teeth cause a lot of pain during any visit to hygienist normally, and I usually get jags in gums to help. But this was first time I have had no pain, or anaesthesia . They use water at a fast action to clean tartar! Brilliant. Can't say much about prices as I think private treatment is always more expensive. £52 for(private )one hygenist visit! But well worth it. Good dentist!

But if you like Mexican food there is one little Taco at this newly run dental studio who will give your little teeth the time of their life. Ok, so you may now be reading this and thinking, ''this guy has lost the plot''. How can a yummy Mexican food stuff possibly make a spankingly good dentist? Well, that's because in Holland they give their children crazy names, like Taco. I've been visiting Mr. Taco now for over 6 year and when I recently found out he was leaving his old practice to open his very own dental studio with his colleague Robbie, I just couldn't bare the thought of having to switch dentist. So, I simply staked him for a few weeks and discovered that he had set up shop in Renfrew, just a few minutes drive outside Glasgow, woohoo! If you are the anxious type or generally don't like the ambiance of a dentist, you could do no better than to give this place a go. Both these guys are so laid back and will help you feel comfortable and at ease. Taco often plays BBC Radio 6 in the background which often takes my mind off things as he goes about doing his business and he has some nice artwork on the walls too, so definitely not your typical dentist. Attentive, mild mannered and super professional. I couldn't recommend a friendlier and nicer dental practice. So, be nice to your teeth and come pay these guys a visit!

I went to this Specsavers branch for an eye test and contact lens fitting last week and received excellent service as always. I am short sighted and usually only wear glasses for driving and watching TV. As such I tend to get my eyes tested at Specsavers but take my prescription to Oscar and Fitch to get some funky specs. I find the range of glasses at Specsavers ok but nothing special. However my eyesight has deteriorated a lot over the past two years and I now need to wear my glasses all the time so I thought I should start considering contact lenses for when I am partaking in some physical activity or for nights out when glasses will spoil my ensemble! The optician I saw at the Byres Road branch of Specsavers was really nice and friendly. He made sure he explained to me what he was doing and what he was testing for when he was putting bizarre apparatus near my face! You can feel a bit stupid during an eye test when they ask you to read stuff and you have to tell them you can't. It makes you feel like you can't read and that your an idiot when obviously you know and the optician knows that it is just your eyesight! My optician kept reassuring me though with lots of "that's great," and "well done Lisa". After my sight test he passed me over to the branch manager who helped teach me how to put my new contacts in and how to take them out. It took me aaaages to get it right but he sat patiently with me the whole time until I felt completely comfortable with what I was doing. I had a follow up appointment a few days later to have some tests done after a few days with contacts in, again the optician and other staff were lovely and didn't pressure me to sign up to any long term contracts with my contact lenses. They were happy for me to just pop in to pick up new lenses as and when I need them. I would definitely recommend this branch to anyone considering lenses or just for a regular eye test. It is a very small branch though so I do think it's best to go elsewhere to look for glasses frames.

Also, eye tests are a weird process, I don't like getting them done. So, I only really visited Specsavers because I'd lost not only my glasses but also my prescription and so I was forced to get a new test. Booking the test was easy enough. When I showed up a little early for my appointment they were already ready for me. I got a very thorough test, not only to find my prescription but also to check my general eye health. The opticians kindly talked me through everything that was happening and explained my results. They told me they have a lab in store so can get a pretty quick turnaround on glasses that I ordered today. Unfortunately I didn't have time to shop for at the time, so I just took my prescription away with me, but it looks like they have a good selection at a pretty fair range of prices.

Yes, that's right, we used to travel an hour in the car, just to go to the dentist (our local dentist was just not up to scratch!). I know that a lot of people despise their dentists - I can understand why - but Dr McDonald always does his best to put you at ease, and his dental nurses are lovely ladies who seem to remember who you are, what you've been doing, and actually have an interest in you. Dr McDonald himself is a jolly fellow - seriously, kids love him! He's a bit like a dark-haired Santa (if Santa was a dentist, of course). I still visit Dr McDonald, and probably will do until he retires. He's fantastic.

Having just completed six weeks of treatment that included two extractions (one of which was a bit…read morecomplex) and a few deep fillings I must conclude that the author of the previous negative review is either a lunatic or has most definitely not visited the same practice I have. I found the reception staff very pleasant and friendly and accommodating. Being debilitatingly terrified of the dentist from a young age it was to my immediate relief that the dentist I saw, Lisa, and her assistant, Emma, were both very friendly and professional and quickly put me at ease. At each step of my treatment I was made aware of what was happening, and why, what I could expect as a result of the procedures and what the plan was for future treatments. At the end if my treatment they have undoubtably won my trust and earned my respect for their professionalism, competence and excellent attitude and care and attention to detail. Suffice to say I have no fear or apprehensions of any future visits to this dentist. At no point during any of my treatments did the dentist rush on with the work when I advised her the area was not completely numb. Instead, more anaesthetic was administered (I typically require a larger dose due to thicker jaw bones) and time was given for it to take effect before she carefully checked the area was numbed completely before continuing. Aside from the usual soreness that can follow extraction of molar teeth I felt no pain during the process and must remark at the speed and efficiency with which the painless treatment was carried out. I honestly cannot recommend them highly enough. Perhaps the previous author has had a negative experience with a dentist/receptionist at this practice that is no longer in their employ but the description of the people and experience s/he describes are not befitting of the warm, friendly people and comfortable, pain (and fear) frees experience I have had at this practice. +1 very satisfied customer
