Property very pretty during the fall! Did not go inside for tour. The Views are amazing! The back of the mansion seems to need a painting/restoring.

A must see. Don't forget the mansion tour.

Stattsburgh Historic Site is a must visit. Just the drive up to the mansion is so nice and you could sense, that you're in for a memorable experience. I called the mansion, made reservations for their 2:00 PM tour, and the check-in process went smoothly. David, our guide, was knowledgeable, humorous, gave us plenty of time for pictures, and conducted the entire tour at a perfect pace. Each room that we were introduced to outdid the previous. You will see opulence that gives competition to the Rhode Island mansions. The grounds around the site are ideal for picture taking and there is a gift shop with very nice and historical items. I highly recommend the Stattsburgh Historical Site and enjoy the rich history of this region.

This is a beautiful house and especially in autumn, you can come here just to walk on the property and enjoy a colorful view. But the house is really what you wanna see. Staatsburgh is a great example of a Gilded Age house, but the outside is a little weathered which reminds you how much of an upkeep houses like this are. The public bathroom was obviously an original bathroom as it has a tub in it, so that's delightful. If you are early for your tour (which you need to book in advance) you can currently look at an exhibit on the Mills family + on the servants. Or you can do it after, but both rooms were interesting so are worth doing. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and took us around the first and second floor, describing the former owners and the objects in the house and social customs of the time. The dining is the real showpiece. Don't forget to look up! Great ceiling art, furniture, and then the view to the river. It was really living in style. The gift shop is also pretty large and worth browsing. A lot of historic sites don't even have gift stores open any more, so it was enjoyable to even have something. For $6 a person, this was a great way to spend a few hours and on a nice weather day, it's worth strolling around.

We didn't come here for the mansion, we were here at Margaret Norrie to take a hike, but our hike took us through the grounds, and we enjoyed what we saw, which was mostly the icehouse area and the views of the Hudson River. It's very civilized and manicured here in contrast to the rest of the park, which is more spooky and has crumbling buildings. The views of the Hudson were really pretty, even in the winter. I imagine this is a pleasant place to be in the summer as well.

We made an unscheduled stop to this estate. Unfortunately, we were too late to make the last house tour. But we did walk around the magnificent ground which backs to the Hudson River. We saw multiple picnics on the lush green lawn close to the river. Graduating high school seniors were taking prom pictures. The exterior of the house was very grand. Hopefully, we will get a chance to return in the future.

This was one of our favorite tours! We got there for the first tour at 11am and there were only 5 of us. It was $8 per person for the tour. Our guide was Marilyn and she was fantastic. You can tell that she loves the property and the history behind it. It comes through when she tells you stories about the family and home. She's very animated and lively. She's a terrific guide! The house is stunning and large! The grounds are also beautiful. Don't miss this one!

Calling all artists! Bring your en plein air kit!! There is beauty everywhere you turn!!!

This review is going toward the hiking me and my friend experienced, and it was a good one. We parked at the closet entrance, which is on the left. We took the blue trail which is 4.59 miles to exist (making it the longest trail). Some of the markers along the way are not clearly marked as we ended up going the wrong way, making it confusing. One of the blue markers on a tree was facing at the wrong angle. We then figured it out later on thankfully, as we saw the marker up ahead. With me being good with maps and getting around, we ended up going off the path onto the main road to the Hudson River close up. There are a couple of spaces for parking. We got back on the blue trail as it did a big loop and got on the red trail for a bit, until reaching the main road and followed that to the parking lot where we parked. There are multiple trails along the way to take in, as the white trail, according to the map follows the river, which looks appealing. That will be for another visit. To keep life simple, there should be more maps provided along with updated signage for trail colors, which will then bring up my rating.

But last fall, we had an experience at the orchard itself that we will never forget. We had the best day walking for hours around the beautiful orchard and picking apples. On the way back to the car with our big bag of fruit we realized that neither of us had the key to the car! It must have dropped at some point in the orchard. We were doomed! There was no way we were going to find a small car key within the fields. We walked around for a while looking and gave up we were about to call for a tow. Then we came upon one of the farmers driving the tractor, and showed him the only picture we had taken that entire day. He looked at it for a few seconds and went off in search of the key. 10 or 15 minutes later, we saw him calling for us in the distance. As we got closer, we saw him laughing and shaking his head - amazingly, he had found the needle in the haystack, and we were saved! That day we also got to meet his daughter and grandson, who were taking a ride on his tractor through the orchard and picking apples of their own. Maynard's apples and stone fruit worlds above any of the others we can find in the area, and we stock up every Saturday. But in addition to the quality of the fruit, the farmers are all so nice and always let you taste what's in season before you purchase. And after this experience, it was clear to us that Maynard farms is truly family and community-oriented organization, and made us even happier to buy our fruit from them every week. Thank you for everything! See you on Saturday ;) Love, Melissa and Sami

I don't no if it's bcuz we had warly tickets but my grandson didn't wait long to sit on Santa's lap for a photo. The staff very nice, the hot cocoa hot, all pros......but.....cons for me.....im going to say I enjoy more going to places where it's just a drive thru, mainly bcuz you pay 1 price per car instead of per person which is the case here, not that it was expensive, bit I'd you have a big family& are struggling, the drive thru venues are best suited. The "gift" shops here are the size of a closet, not enjoyable&not able to go through the merchandise without feeling rushed, so I bought nothing. Biggest disappointment was the photo taking of Santa. They hand u a bar coded card to bring to their photo booth to aee&purchase your pics, mind u we took 1 of my grandson alone&one of the famy together, and we got nothing. They were "lost", bar code card scanned nothing, the young man said he would look thru the photos to see if he can find them, of course that was 25min of wasted time. Let me add that this also happened during Halloween at Headless Horsemen(same venue). If it wasn't for my son snapping a pic with his phone, we wouldn't have had one of our lil man. So if you guys don't have photo capability, u shouldn't advertise it. Just sayn. It's cute, my 1st time, but I think im going to stuck to the other drive thru in the area.

Everything was so well done and incredibly detailed--it's clear that a lot of thought and effort went into creating the experience. The ticket included several different attractions, and I really liked how each one flowed into the next. It wasn't just a bunch of random scares--it felt like one long, immersive story. It took about 2 hours to go through everything, and it never got boring! The hayride was honestly next-level. I've done haunted hayrides before, but nothing like this. The scenes, the actors, the effects... and YES--there was a real horse with a headless rider That moment totally blew my mind and made the whole thing feel so much more legit and spooky. The costumes and actors throughout the entire night were seriously impressive--super detailed and genuinely scary. You could tell the cast was really committed, and it made the whole experience feel that much more real. They also have shops set up where you can grab snacks and hot cocoa, which was a nice touch after all the excitement. I saw this place only had 3 stars on Yelp, and honestly--I don't get it. This was such a well-executed haunted attraction, and I truly had an amazing time. I'd definitely come back and will be recommending it to friends. They rely heavily on jump scares, and there are plenty of them to keep you entertained. I'd manage expectations on the production value. While other reviewers mentioned 'Hollywood level' props, I didn't quite see that. The sets are good, but not mind-blowing. Have I been to scarier haunted attractions? Absolutely. But the Headless Horseman's strength is its atmosphere. You can't beat the genuine, spooky vibe of being on a huge plot of dark farmland, surrounded by rustling cornrows. It's an entertaining night out that's all about enjoying the seasonal spirit.
