I've been going to Dr. Johnson's office for about 3 years now. I use Groupon for my first time, and instantly got my business from there! I had the definition of a crooked smile. Dr Johnson told me about Invisalign and at the time it was not financially possible. They took care of all of my other dental needs. Last year I told Dr Johnson I was able to get the Invisalign, and he was just as excited to see was the Invisalign could do to my smile! Since I had been a patient for two years prior, they did have a payment plan available, and it was very manageable. Here I am a year later with a beautiful smile!!! And the wonderful team of Dr Johnson has made it so much more exciting. You won't be disappointed going to Dr Johnson's office, no matter the situation. read more

I have had regular dental maintenance since I was a young child. I was experiencing tooth pain and couldn't get into my regular dentist. I hadn't been unhappy with my regular dentist but trying to schedule appointments was a nightmare. I decided to switch to Stacy Johnson and that was a huge mistake. The original tooth pain that I had was never fixed. Additionally, they did a "thorough" exam and discovered that I needed $10k worth of dental work. I supposedly had four cracked teeth that had never been previously discovered. I put the work on hold because I simply couldn't afford it. Fast forward a year, and I've relocated to a new state. I visited my new dentist who told me that my teeth are in very good shape. I have no cracked teeth and need absolutely no dental work. Stacy Johnson and his practice is an unethical practice. What they do borders on criminal. Do yourself a favor and do not allow them to even look in your mouth. read more

Very friendly. Took their time. His Helper Heather was so helpful and had sympathy and empathy. I constantly told her this. She said I treat my patients how I want to be treated. She did an excellent job doing that. Dr Stacy explained things he was doing. He was also pleasant. They worked great as a team. The only thing I disliked was prices. I did have oral conscious sedation which I know is more. I am on Medicare and I needed a lot work done so going to be expensive but I know it would anywhere. Nightmare experience. My sister is traumatized for life and this guy cannot even be bothered to apologize because he's just afraid of getting sued. Despite him having been told about her anxiety, they did not give the right amount of anesthetics and she woke up during her wisdom teeth removal. The big inhumane mistake comes when this "dr" tells her it's okay when she is awake and trying to stop him from ripping out her teeth (torture) when she is clearly awake and he just shushes her and does it while she is conscious, crying and feeling everything?? I really do not have the words to describe how unbelievable that is. This happened a few years ago but it is still so traumatic to this day and I cant get over the fact that this guy cannot even be bothered to offer a proper heartfelt apology for that. Once they start the procedure they continually check to make sure the patient is comfortable. If I could give negative stars I would. My longtime dentist retired after he had an accident so I needed to find a new dentist. His office is near my house so I thought I would give him a try. Horrible. He is rude and was insulting and I spent an hour an half at my first visit and they didn't even clean my teeth. They a bunch of x-rays and then proceeded to tell me I needed fillings on 18 of my teeth and crowns on 3 others. Given that I have a bridge that encompasses 4 of my teeth he basically wanted to work on about every other tooth. I had last seen my previous dentist 6 months earlier and they had put a watch on one tooth. Evidently I had a very bad 6 months to have that much deterioration, or it could be that he wanted to make $10k off of me, which is what they estimated it would cost after insurance paid their part. Ridiculous!! I will continue my search for a competent dentist. read more

I haven't been to the Dentist in years and I came in for a check up and cleaning. Lindsay was amazing and the check up was beyond thorough! Dr. Johnson also took a lot of time with me and showed me each tooth on camera as he explained what everything meant. Okay, I have to set the record straight. Of course most of the people that are going to put a review are those that have felt they did not receive the service they had expected. I personally have been going to dr. Johnson's practice for 20 years and have never experienced anything other than the best in professionalism and service. I don't normally fill out these reviews, but I could not allow a few disgruntled people to skew the ratings of this wonderful office. I have visited a number of offices over the years and can 100% confirm that this is one of the best staffed, best equipped, and overall most Advanced Dental practices in the Indianapolis area. I recently moved to the area and needed a dentist and thankfully I found Dr. Johnson's practice. They got me in quick when I needed a root canal and eased my mind about it. And as someone who hates going to the dentist, they made it easy and not so scary. The staff has always been so welcoming and easy to talk to. I pre-paid for a cleaning and exam but then when I called to book the appointment they refused to do both on the same visit? When I told them they could skip the exam and just clean my teeth they refused saying they wouldn't know what type of cleaning I required. Seems like an upscale scam. It's tough for me to miss a single day for my appointment and I sure couldn't take two days off just to get my teeth cleaned. Demanded a refund and that wasn't a problem. My guess is that they ran a special and got overbooked so they started making it difficult to get in. Based on my experience, I would not recommend. read more

I absolutely DO NOT recommend this dentist. We chose Dr. Johnson because my husband has a terrible gag reflex and sedation dentistry seemed a good solution. He performed wisdom tooth extractions on my husband. During the process he shattered part of his jaw causing splinters to work their way up through the gums. We continued to visit Dr. Johnson because my husband was in extreme pain, soaring fevers, could not tolerate chewing. Dr. Johnson was utterly "confused" as to why this could be happening. He threw painkillers at us left and right - hydrocodone, vicoden... and said we just had to wait for the swelling to go down, said it might be TMJ, said it was probably just a strained jaw muscle. I'd finally had it and took my husband over to a local oral surgeon who immediately discovered the problem (bone splinters) with a simple head CT. A 30 minute surgery and his pain of three months was totally gone in less than 24 hours. By that time of course, Dr. Johnson had completely depleted our dental insurance maximum and the surgery cost us almost $1000.00. Now one of the many fillings Dr. Johnson put in has fallen out. **Ridiculous** I had an initial screening with him as well. One of the first things you will notice, as you enter the office and exam rooms, is that the whole place is covered with tvs. During my exam I actually had to make a noise to interrupt him watching the tv screen located above the chair... he had tools in my mouth and was just staring up at the screen zoned out. When his admin called to try to schedule a follow up for me - I told her all of this and why we clearly would not be returning. She answered "Okay" and hung up immediately. For Pete's sake. I probably should have filed with the BBB but didn't have the energy after three months of living with a husband who was so sick and hepped-up on painkillers he couldn't eat and could hardly take out the trash. I'm sure Dr. Johnson is fine for simple procedures and for folks who have tons of moolah to throw at unnecessary dental work. But if you are frugal and seeking good work for a fair price - I'd keep looking. read more

I understand dentistries are businesses, but this one is more like a scamming business. I've never been OVER-CHARGED in my life for dental care until I came here. The front office people are nice to you until they need to squeeze their overly price fees out of you, then the become vicious. I'm not sure if the actually dentists are aware of the borderline financial scams the office manager is encouraging her staff to practice. This is the worse dentistry I've ever been to--be not deceived by the fancy office and the fake smile when you first arrive. I was literally told that I had some form of "gum disease" and I needed some special treatment. For the record, I've never had a gum disease as an adult, as I practice excellent dental hygiene. Well, I visited another dentist just to be sure and...voila!...Stacy Johnson's dentistry were lying when they said I had a "gum disease." BTW, they were charging thousands of dollars to help cure it. Had to get this out. They tell me I need 7 crowns. Which will cost me over 8K and a ton of other stuff I "needed". I'm 32 and certainly didn't think I needed that much work so I got a second opinion. This place is a joke... The office women seem super friendly at first but after a few visits, they're rude. I was super uncomfortable sitting in the waiting area because they would whisper to each other and then look up at me, obviously talking about me. they told me I had 14+ cavities and periodontal disease. I had maybe 7 of those "cavities" filled and spent a couple grand tending to my supposed disease... I went to a new dentist today and was told I only have one cavity!! So this place is totally scamming people! Oh and I don't have periodontal disease! My gums are actually extremely healthy! Dr Johnson had to fix my front crown a few times because it didn't look good at all... I finally gave up and now just live with having a messed up tooth. I would not recommend anyone go here! Do yourself a favor and don't go here. Sometimes I think it's me being overly sensitive to situations that I don't agree with, but in reading the few reviews here I will go ahead and put in my 2¢. When I moved to the area, I took note of this office that is close by. I made appointments for my family and after about 5 minutes of speaking with the dentist concerning my teeth, I knew. I, as many others have stated, have always taken care of my teeth and right after he informed me it would be about $8,000 to have the work done that I needed, that was that. I've been in this area a while now and finally I see, people are onto this. After hearing more and more horror stories about dentists and their practices, I recommend visiting a few before settling for one. The ADA may want to check into some of the so called "dentists" around here, they really give honest, hardworking dental professionals a bad name. read more

New to the area, I went to Dr. Johnson and had a nice initial appointment and cleaning. My husband (regular dentist visitor, son of a retired hygienist) went to Dr. Johnson for the initial appointment as well. Imagine our surprise when he, a man in his 20s, was diagnosed with periodontal disease, and needed $10K of dental work, when his appointment just six months prior he got a clean bill of health. How could a healthy young man with good dental hygiene go from healthy gums to the final stage of gum disease in the span of just six months, you ask? A second and third dentist couldn't tell us either. The third dentist did the periodontal charts (poking the gums, reading the numbers) twice, just in case. After a very thorough review of his medical history, x-rays, etc., it just didn't add up to any type of gum disease, let alone periodontitis. He got a clean bill of health from both dentists. The price of two more initial appointments was far, far less than the $10K bill for cleaning and care Dr. Johnson insisted was needed. It appears, based on both his previous dentist and two subsequent dentists, that this wasn't just a "not quite the right diagnosis," it was just dead wrong. "Scam" seems to suggest something very sinister going on in the office, so I think of my husband as a victim of shoddy assessment and poor dentistry. I wouldn't go to a cardiologist who can't diagnose a healthy heart from heart disease or a heart attack, and I won't go to a dentist who can't tell healthy gums from gingivitis or periodontal disease. If you are still interested in going to Dr. Johnson's office after reading this review and others on sites that are NOT the Google reviews attached to their personal patient response service, I think you will appreciate the friendly staff, bedside manner, the quiet and comfortable rooms, the TVs with cable channels in the patient rooms, the top notch website and equipment, and the Dr. Johnson themed grocery bag with Dr. Johnson themed goodies inside, including, but not limited to: Dr. Johnson themed pen, Dr. Johnson themed chap stick (I wish I was kidding) and Dr. Johnson themed dental care items. Just don't think too hard about how they pay for all those premium perks. read more

Similar to another post, I purchased the Groupon for whitening, X-rays and an exam. I have also taken very good care of my teeth, and was told that I had NINE cavities and needed a crown totaling more than $3,000. Thank the lord I got a second opinion from my usual dentist- 1 cavity=$50. Please don't make the same mistake!!! read more

I bought a groupon for a dental exam, xrays, cleaning and whitening with Dr Johnson for my husband and I. Everything looks good from the outside- beautiful office, friendly staff and thorough exam. I left my appt hearing that I had 5 cavities when I've only had 1 my entire life when I was 7. My husband left his appt hearing that he has a gum disease, basically cancer of the mouth and he needed $3-4,000 worth of treatment. We both were shocked by the results we were told, especially given our dental history and hygeine. We saught a second opinion with another dentist and Greenwood and she found NOTHING. We were all completely shocked that there are dentists out there that scam you like that. Had we not had a gut feeling and found a second opinion, we would have dumbly paid the ridiculous bill they were telling us we needed to. The groupon was for $90 and I received all my services but my husband did get his cleaning or whitening because they said they couldn't due to his teeth being so bad. Needless to say they lied and they made money off of us by not providing those services we paid for. We deserve a refund. read more

I went for preventive checkup without any pain but with some issue with food trapping in my teeth. Doctor recommended crown and filling on several teeth. I followed and scheduled procedures up to maximum insurance allowance for the year. After preparing my tooth for temporary crown, I started experiencing sensitivities in teeth immediately above crown and experienced pain while chewing on temporary crown. I visited several times and complained about the issue and Doctor kept adjusting my bite. After, I continue to experience issue (while my permanent crown was being prepared), Doctor referred me to endodontists. Endodontists asked me to simply bite on each tooth and identified that I need root canal on the tooth that was prepared for crown. Of course, by then I had spent all insurance coverage for the year and spending $1000+ on and above hundreds of dollars that I gave to Dr Johnson was not possible. I ended up deciding placing permanent crown. I can not eat on one side. Doctor Johnson did not take any responsibility. I went to Doctor perfectly without pain and after spending lots of money, I came out with pain and continue to live with it. I felt doctor lacked necessary expertise to provide quality care. I do not recommend him. However, I have to admit that office administration is very good but it does not help if you do not get quality care. read more
