Made us feel at home, both the staff and customers. It was the first place we headed to after checking into hotel.

Apparently, Offenbach is "dangerous" (according to our waitress).. but I'm still glad we ended up…read moreat this restaurant, because the food was delish! Our waitress was very friendly and helpful, and spoke English (which we were appreciative of). They didn't have an English menu, but most of the items on the menu were understandable, and our waitress helped with the rest. I ordered the Hahnchengeschnetzeltes, because I mistakenly misread it as a type of schnitzel. It's not, but it was still good. It was a chicken dish, with a mushroom sauce that tasted similar to curry. My boyfriend and friends ordered a smoked pulled pork sandwich and burgers, which they seemed to enjoy. NOTE: Something I, as an American, wasn't use to.. no glasses of water! You have to purchase bottles of water, and be sure to ask for "water, no gas" or "still water" if you don't want sparkling water. Also, you might as well order a beer, because the prices are almost the same.

Nice, lovely and small bar. Very friendly and fast service. I dont get it, why it's tagged as…read moreitalian restaurant. The have different kind of foods (and special Valentines offering), but not really pinned down to one kitchen style. Have nice and fresh (even the non-alcoholic) cocktails. Food is a little more expensive, but it's a good location to just have a drink in Offenbach. Maybe one of the best bar's in OF inner city. Bonus for me: non-smoking.

That said: there is a good reason for this secretiveness: 1) It's small and the atmosphere is private 2) The drinks are made with a great accuracy by masters of their art 3) It's for connaisseurs who worship good drinks The location is great for very small groups from 2 to 4. The atmosphere stimulates good conversations and at times you feel like a visionary from the 20s... Worth the experience!

As the self-appointed king of speakeasies, my duties include checking them out overseas, too. Die…read moreRote Bar is a true speakeasy which makes it a winner in my book. Ambiance (4/5): You may have trouble finding this speakeasy if you don't do your research prior. It's located inside what looks like the entrance to an apartment. Walk in, press the buzzer, and the hostess will greet you. Once you get inside, it's dimly lit with old school charm. My only complaint. No A/C and uncomfortable chairs. Service (4/5): At a speakeasy, you expect elevated service. And it was good here. Our waiter answered our questions, made recommendations, and had a good sense of humor. When he was asked what a popular cocktail is in Germany, he said beer. Food (N/A): I was on a liquid diet, and I don't think they have food anyway. Drinks (4/5): They have a long list of craft cocktails which is a plus. What I look for at a speakeasy is creativity and an interesting blend of flavors. While some of the options on their menu are basic cocktails, there are some interesting ones, too. The one I had, while the name is escaping me, had a nice fruity and refreshing profile. One of the coolest bars I checked out in Frankfurt. Prost!
