In summer, it is particularly popular with canal boaters and can sometimes be so busy that it is not possible to get into the car park, even though this is very large. There is a children's playground, a beer garden and the pub has been extended by a large conservatory to accommodate more diners in the restaurant. Even so, be prepared for a long wait on busy sunny days when it will be heaving - but it is worth it.

We arrived around 7pm and were quickly shown to our table. Our order for drinks was taken very quickly. Two of our party opted for the salmon and not the carvery. The salmon was freshly cooked and absolutely beautiful and arrived after 15 minutes. The vegetables from the carvery were cooked to perfection and regularly topped up with fresh, hot food. Desserts were lovely and they even catered for my Nan's special request of custard on cheesecake. All in all can't fault the Plough, very, very impressed and will return again soon.

The pub is cosy and friendly, and in a great location for walkers and cyclists on the Tissington trail.
