What a find. We happened to be staying at an Airbnb up the hill and thanks to Yelp we chose this…read moreplace for dinner on a Wednesday night. Despite the inauspicious location on an industrial end of a street, this place is great. Completely off the beaten track from the tourist circuit, locals fill the place and on the dome evening we were there, live on the patio as walkers and cyclists pass by. Service was slow because they were understaffed but those working were doing the best they could with good attitudes. I'd .you sit on the patio, you order at the bar. Food was better than usual pub fare while still offering the requisite fish and chips. I had the falafel burger and my friend that the fish and chips. I would highly recommend for atmosphere inside and out, especially when the weather ia good.

However, I wonder if we went at the wrong time of the day, week, hour? The service was incredibly slow, but the staff were friendly. We both ordered fish and chips. Should be great, or so we thought. Perhaps we should've read the fine print to see what "fish" was in their "fish & chips!" Hint it wasn't cod or haddock. I absolutely love a good fish & chips, but unfortunately this place was such a let down. The chips were okay at best. The fish was not great. It as plain terrible. If we weren't famished, I would've not eaten it. The mushy peas were terrible- how do you mess up mushy peas?! After patiently waiting 45 minutes for our food, the let down was huge. I couldn't believe how bad we misjudged this place. Hopefully, the crew will see this & drastically improve their fish! 4 out of 10- overall. 2 out of 10- on the fish & chips. Maybe we chose the wrong thing, but come on! . My hopes were killed.

For dinner I had the crispy pork belly Sunday roast. Mrs had the beef Sunday roast. Service was great both times. Food was fresh and hot. When in Bath this is a good spot to eat.

They have several local ales on tap and some "Real Ale" cask conditioned for a traditional experience. Sadly, there was no roast beef when we arrived so we'll have to wait for the classic Sunday roast. Steak and ale pie, and a butternut squash pie were good substitutes. This is a popular spot, especially for outdoor seating. We sat inside in a cozy dining room but if the weather is dry outdoors is a nice option.
