Johnny is a skilled craftsman, the custom woodwork he did is beautiful and just what I asked for. They were a pleasure to have in our home during construction and left the space immaculate each day. We did not hesitate to hire DUCS for our garage conversion. Once again we had the pleasure of Johnny as our carpenter, and consistently excellent subcontractors. The cost of the project, when you break it down, shows that a good portion of that cost goes to somewhere other than the work being done or the cost of materials. When you pay over 10k for a project then you expect a professional job and not the bare minimum then the rest disappear. These are my opinions and experience. Your results may be different. I feel the job was rushed, corners cut and again. When you pay a lot of money then you would expect at least 3/4 or more of that finance to go towards labor and product. Heck, If I can earn $4,000 or more just by making a few phone calls... Order and deliver some wholesale pavers, hire someone to remove old concrete, A team of foreign laborors from South America, then count me in but that is exactly my experience. So let's just say I refuse to hire this company again and leave it at that.

My home was newer so I was able to find the exact tile as in the dining/living room. Step Up Home Improvements had great reviews, were very prompt in responding, and gave me a reasonable price so I chose them to install my tiles. Pierre Grand was the representative from the company that was my contact for the job. I assumed he would be installing the tile or at least supervising but he was nowhere to be found when the workers came to install the tile. The workers did not speak English so there were multiple issues with not being on the same page. My mistake was assuming the workers would know I wanted the grout lines lined up straight. My wife and I had to continually ask the worker to line up the grout lines evenly and the worker would get noticeably upset. At one point, I was not home and my wife asked him to correct it but he said in broken english "Don't worry, no one will notice it". Since I am conversational in spanish, I rushed home early from work and had him correct it. The above is the main issue I had with the workers/company. They pay very little attention to detail and just try to get the job done and get out. I expressed my concerns to Pierre and he offered me $200 but never received the money. I would NOT recommend this company.

I had to find most of the items for the room, Mr. Hines assistant doesn't know how to order supplies! This was in Oct of 2017. Recently we are having problems with the flooring they installed (it is separating). Shower knob has a problem with keeping the water hot. Defective knob. Called everyday for a week and they finally returned my Dad's call and told us the company is too busy to do any warranty work. Mr. Hines assistant said he would put this on their calendar to one to two months, then they might be able to repair these items. Mr. Hines builds rooms for a reasonable price but follow-up is NOT customer friendly.
