Both my wife and I have home health aids, hers is more like an eight hour companion. Because my…read morewife has a TBI she is not good at supervising her companion who spent most of her time sitting on our couch with her smartphone. My wife spent most of the day sleeping as usual. My wife has had some serious bouts of diarrhea and had one last night. She cleaned most of it up but left a few spots under the lip of the toilet. I called her service to ask if it was ok for me to ask her to clean it up. They said yes and had them call her and instruct her. The companion demanded gloves from me. Because I use them in my duties as a retired paramedic and we're financially handicapped. After going around and around with the service I reluctantly gave her a pair of my gloves. She failed to use them to clean up the small mess and left, after giving me some "lip". There were also a few dishes in the sink which I just noticed she did not attend to. I called the service who said they could do nothing about it. Not willing to wait for her return and live with feces on the toilet I took about five minutes and cleaned it up. As a former Goast Guard licensed small vessel captain who supervised numerous people and a small business owner I found the response unprofessional and unbusinesslike. The worker was IMO incompetent.

A through assessment was done and a thoughtful care plan developed, with my input and approval. The caregivers were thoughtfully chosen and were kind, caring, helpful and in tune with my family member; even through difficult challenges from other family members. The level of commitment and care from Homewatch was the highest and consistently so. It was also important to me when choosing Homewatch that they offered transportation with caregivers at a most reasonable fee, even though we did not make use of that service. The safety and flexibility that service offered felt like a tremendous support. My family member had needs that were being managed by an agency and Homewatch brought the best cooperation and problem-solving interaction with the agency. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

If you are going to leave them behind 100% of the time, I don't think you will be satisfied here. I suggest you pay a lot of money and find a private place. - What I like - ・The location is in a natural setting and all the hairs are bright and have a view of the outdoors. ・There are many birds and animals and you can observe natural animals from your room. ・The garden is beautiful and you can sunbathe outdoors comfortably. I also like the rehabilitation here. ・The nurses work on a schedule so I can trust them even if you need medical care. - Dislikes - ・Linens such as sheets and towels are very old and uncomfortable to use. ・Hallways are smelly. ・The number of patients seems to exceed what the people who work here can tolerate to care for them. For those reasons, the care on weekends and at night is lousy. (To counteract the problems, family members can provide care or hire a care giver on the weekends.) ・The amount of money you pay is not balanced by the care you receive.

One told me I shouldn't be there because my family should have been doing my laundry and bringing in things I needed. They are short-staffed and short-tempered. The nursing director told me they expect people to take no more than an hour a day, total, of staff time. Inadequate grab bars in the shower, no-slip decals in the shower are worn out and old, so shower floors are slick. They have refused to allow some people taken to the hospital to come back, even through pre-paid. This is dumping, which is illegal. Do not recommend.
