It's interesting that he's both a professional photographer and knife maker. I know a person just like that way back in my home state of Iowa - Cameron Sadeghpour of Lost Planet Forge in Des Moines. Sometimes a person's creativity travels to multiple interests. I have a habit of purchasing a knife from a country that I've visited. After poking around various Australian maker websites, I cam upon Phil's page and was drawn to the Pocket Folder Sassafrass, a one-off piece with scales from Tasmanian wood. It's a real beauty, and the fact that I'd had previous success with photographers who also make knives, I was in and quickly. I contacted Phil and after figuring out tariffs and shipping, this fine piece was in my hands in a short international while. Now that I'm looking more at Phil's website, I'm sorry his business wasn't on my radar when I recently visited Launceston. I'm intrigued by some of his books, and I bet Gayle and I would look good together pictured in black and white. Unfortunately for the later, a return visit is not on currently on our travel list.

Modern décor surrounded our king size bed - much of it exclusive to the hotel (you'll love the window blind!). The ceiling is probably 12ft high, and the ensuite quite roomy. The hotel now has in-room free wi-fi as well as cabled broadband. The lobby and restaurant/lounge are compact, but classy and well looked after by the staff. Hotel Charles is located a short walk South of the CBD on a plot previously part of the Hospital. It shares many of its parking spots with a number of businesses during the day, so there are signs reserving spaces for hotel guests only from 5:30pm to 8:30am. If you can only get one of those spaces when you arrive, the obligation to shift would be a downside of your stay.

After staying at a nearby hotel previously and having terrible experience, we decided this hotel…read morewould be our hotel of choice. The hotel is very modern in the foyer. Check-in was great. There is a great restaurant and bar near the lobby. The lounge within the restaurant in bar makes it very casual and welcoming. Our rooms are very modern nice and clean and brilliant . The only concern we had and problem was they were still updating half of the hotel and we were walking through a construction zone to and from our room every day and had to put up with a bunch of noise from contractors. I'm not sure the answer would've been here but they can't work on all the rooms at once but it was not the best situation. Once the hotel is completely updated and there is no more construction, it will likely hit a five star Yelp rating. I'll stay here next time hopefully it's all done and we have a great day..

Tons of closet space/ a comfortable sofa/ large bathroom. Very clean as well. My only complaint is that there is no lift! The reception had offered to carry our luggage up to our room but on a day when you come back from hours of hiking, the last thing you want is the further aggravate your knees from climbing the stairs to your room.
