These so called "stand up guys" did a horrible job. They were dragging metal filing cabinets across our vinyl floors and made scratches so large that the building owner had to completely replace the floors at their own expense. They also knocked the water fountain off the wall, and I surprised them when I walked in to see water flooding the hallway floor. When I asked them what the water was from, they said they "bumped into" the water foundation and it started leaking so they just turned of the water, and (poorly) hung the water fountain back up. I don't think they planned on telling me this. When the building owner asked this company to reimburse the cost of the damages, they went silent and as of a month ago, this issue has been unresolved. I guess after I attached a picture, they realized the job was too small. I am a business owner as well and value small or big orders. Small orders can lead to big orders. I want to write a disclaimer to this review that the team on site was not at fault for this absolute disaster. They arrived early, were friendly, and with a few exceptions were industrious about the process. Unfortunately, their management set them up for failure here. To provide a bit of context here, we had these guys come out to our office space the week prior to our appointment to quote the junk removal. I will be the first to admit we had a daunting amount for removal -- file cabinets, storage, and at least 20 large cubicles. We were quoted 4 hours and 4 trucks and breakdown if we needed it. It is really key here that I mention that the above quote was for 30% more than was actually removed. Now, lets pan to Saturday October 12th. Our window was from 8 AM - 10 AM and they arrived at 8:30 but did not call beforehand as we were told they were. To their credit here, they immediately got to work. But then we wouldn't see them for 30- 45 minutes at a time. I had another team there removing items for donation, and they are the ones who told me that Junk Guys were not strategically loading the items in the dumpster, so they were constantly forced to re-arrange, adding hours to the removal process. Around lunchtime, we had not seen them for over an hour, so we went downstairs to check, and they had left with the first two dumpsters. Here the quote was misleading as it was for 4 dumpsters - I will come back to this in a minute - which led me to believe we would have 4 dumpsters on site from the beginning. The team did not give us any notice that they were leaving to drop at the landfill, and this emptying process took 2 hours.Look I am not a task master, and I understand the guys needed a lunch break, but again some communication here would have been appreciated.When the crew returned after lunch, they loaded the 3rd dumpster and then 2 of the guys left, leaving only 3 to load the remaining items which at this point in the day was still 60% of it. At this point we called the general manager because it looked like we were going to be there until 10 PM. Again, there was no communication form the team as to a status update or the plan to get the job finished.It turns out that 2 man team was sent to another job before returning to finish ours. I know that these companies schedule multiple jobs in a day, but our job should have been finished before that call was made, as I am certain I was charged for that labor. Further to that point, we did not receive any updates from them as to when they would be back. When the general manager told us their ETA was 30 minutes, it was in fact an hour. Again, I understand the variables here - wait time at the dump, traffic - but just tell me the truth.The three guys that we were left with were understandably overwhelmed, however we heard one of them venting that "this is a fucking shit show." While I was inclined to agree with him, I would suggest in the future he vent beyond earshot of the customer.We called the general manager for an update around 4 PM, at which point we making trips to the truck/ dumpster as we were able. We made at least 20 trips, and honestly did not stop until the last of the items were loaded at 7 PM. Again, here I understand that the team had been working on this since 7:30 AM carrying much larger/ heavier items, but on every 3rd trip of ours they were just resting on the truck. While the GM said he didn't want us to risk injuring ourselves by assisting, I truly believe that our efforts cut at least an hour off the total time required. As you know, Dallas is not as clean and safe as it used to be, so I would have been endangering my female employee by having her at an office building surrounded by a homeless population after dark as this took triple the amount of time we were anticipating. They also damaged our walls and acted like we set them up for failure on this job by having so much stuff when that was not at all the cast. It seems I am at my character limit, but I am inclined to agree with the employee that said "this is **** shit show." read more

Before I called Stand Up Guys, I called a company called Junk King North Texas who sent two giant red trucks and a crew ready to remove my stuff. Because it was yard waste (a giant pile of tree branches) they told me they were unable to give any kind of rough estimate over the phone, even with pictures, so they would have to send their crew out for the estimate. The guy looked at it and said it will be 2 truckloads, and gave us an estimate of $1067. We told them that was higher than we were hoping, and he asked "how much did we really think this was gonna cost?" We said sorry we were going to look at other prices and get back to them. Within 24 hours, we had a small crew come out from Stand Up Guys, and they said they could do a truckload for $500. They then proceeded to carefully break down and stuff the entirety of the wood into ONE TRUCK, smaller than the trucks Junk King had. Stand Up Guys cost us less than half of Junk King's estimate, and got the job done professionally and fast with no hitch. Highly recommend. Excellent Service and Responsive but High Quote Stand Up Guys did excellent work on my relatively small junk removal job (about 1/8 of the truck). They were the first to respond to my requests for quotes, and I liked how clearly they communicated through Yelp messaging, texts, and email as well as voicemail and a tracking map on the day of the job. My only desire for improvement is their quoting process. Out of 3 quotes, they were the only ones who would not provide a quote in advance despite my sending pictures. When they came out and made an initial quote, it was **80% higher** than my lowest quote from a competitor with a similar Yelp rating. Fortunately, they were willing to negotiate and match my best quote. In sum, I was very pleased with the booking process; and the crew (Alex and Dre) was punctual, efficient, and friendly. If you are comfortable with haggling and prepared with competing quotes, you can get a fair price for superior service. read more

The first part of the job was fine although they came with a full truck. On the day they had to come back to complete the job, the guys tracked mud all into the house after the cleaners had vacuumed. They slid the sofa across the wood floor and it scratched the floor. When I went out to check the backyard where there was a patio set they were supposed to remove. The table and chairs were gone but the umbrella stand was in the middle of the deck and the tiles from the table were broken on the ground and in the landscaping. read more

Christiaan and his team just did a clean out of our office building this morning and were prompt and professional. It was a large job. I chose them over the other two quotes I got because their worst case quote was more competitive plus they were willing to dispose of numerous paint cans and solvents for a modest fee which the other companies would not touch. It's extremely important to have the "right person" to be your company's first point of contact. I called this company to determine if they would be able to assist with an upcoming move (removal of items from a storage unit) and the person who answered the phone acted as if I was bothering her. Her willingness to answer my questions fell flat and she seemed either a) distracted, b) interrupted, c) bothered, and/or d) agitated. I have decided not to use them because of this incident. We called Christiaan and the Stand Up Guys for a pretty big job. We had just purchased an older home, and we wanted to demo a ~250 sqft cracked concrete slab that was used as a small basketball court, a beat up, multi-layered hot tub deck and a flimsy wired fence the previous owner used to keep a small dog in the backyard. We contacted 3 different companies for a bid. The first came in at $4200+, the second came in at $2900+ and last, the Stand Up Guys, came in at $824. Like, literally, a fraction of the other 2 bids. I asked my husband 3 times what the number was, and each time he confirmed it was $824. I talked with Christiaan on the phone, and he sent me an official quote, and it was $824. I was just floored by the unbelievable value these guys were providing, and of course, they won the job. On the day of the job, it was estimated to be a 3 people job for about 4 hours. The guys showed up bright and early and got to work right away. But it became apparent pretty quickly that 4 hours and just 3 people weren't going to cut it. Throughout the day, more guys from Stand Up came and went. Each truck with at least 2 guys stayed and helped with the work here and there before heading to another job. At one point, I think I saw as many as 7-8 guys in my backyard, jack hammering that slab and throwing rubble into the back of the truck. The job ended up taking over 11 hours, and spanned 1.5 days. After the work was done, Christiaan asked me to come down and check out the opened up space. I asked him about requoting because the job was obviously way bigger than what he had originally quoted. He stuck to his word, because that was the quote he gave me. The integrity and honesty of this company is just unparalleled. I sent the guys home with a big tip because that was the least I could do, but will definitely recommend, and call them again, for any future needs!! read more
