I was quoted $200.00 to remove car port pieces which had been knocked down in the hurricane. I also told them that there were a few small items included that had been under the carport such as a small plastic side table, planters, etc. They showed up and surveyed the pile ( ( It filled about 1/2 the truck , as I had estimated. ). The hauler said nothing further and began to load it. It took under an hour. AFTER he was all finished, he wanted to change the price to $250.00. He said it was a little heavier than he had anticipated . I asked him why he didn't tell me this BEFORE he started. He had absolutely no answer to that. He said most people don't question a price change after a job is completed. I asked him what if he had changed the price to $300.00? Would I be expected to pay that? He said, " No, that would be a scam." So - I guess it's not a scam as long as he just raised it $50.00 more Lol. I told him I'd give him $225.00, and then did not leave an additional tip. My recommendation is that you ask, again, once the hauler gets there if the price is going to change. read more
