The staff I saw here was decent and the doctor certainly knew what she was doing, even though she sincerely doubted the diagnosis I was known to have had. I get that it's a very unique condition but I wish she had used more positive language in terms of saying you might be right or wow that's unusual let me look into that. They helped me get contacts and told me the glasses I had would work, and also printed off extra paperwork to help with the rebate which I very much appreciated. read more

Had two of my children get glasses and had picked them up and paid for them two months ago then this week I get a nasty email saying that we owe $6.57 and if we don't pay they're going to send me to collections. When I called they couldn't explain where the other fee came from or why but said if I didn't pay it they'll just send to collections??? read more

Terrible, terrible customer service every time I've had to interact with them. Some of the worst I've ever experienced. Told me they took my vision insurance when I spoke with them on the phone before my appointment, and then after my appointment when I went to pay told me they didn't take it. Extremely unhelpful, and unapologetic after I expressed my frustrations with my customer service experience here. Also, there is no where to lock your bike if you want to bike here. I think I had to walk several blocks before finding even a post. I will not be going back. read more

These guys ripped me off big time. This happened over a year ago, but it still makes me mad when I think about it so I thought I'd finally get around to writing a yelp review. I purchased a pair of 300-ish dollar lenses set into a 150 dollar frame. I didn't pay the extra 80 some-odd dollars for an extra year of insurance because, are you kidding me? So I pay for my glasses and start using them. Scarcely two weeks have passed before my frames break clean in half. (And let me tell you, I am no demon-child. I am super careful with my possessions) I returned to Standard Optical, where they informed me that I was luckily within the 30-day guarantee period. They replaced the frames with a new set and sent me on my way. Scarcely a month had passed before the frames broke once again. I returned to Standard Optical where the receptionist informed me that, because I was no longer within the 30-day guarantee period, they could do nothing for me. In so many words, she let me know I was s*** out of luck. I will never take my money to this location again. Furthermore, I will never recommend Standard Optical to anyone, be them a fond friend or a treacherous enemy. Instead, i took my money to Seeholzer's. You should, too. TL;DR - Standard Optical sold me a pair of cheap delicate frames, passed them off as being quality, and refused to fix or replace them after they broke twice. read more

The people that work at this location are incredibly rude and unhelpful. While at my visit the doctor told his front desk girl that I "was basically blind and couldn't see anything" after he had dilated my eyes and sent me out to look for new frames without my current contacts in. The woman that helped us with the frames was also rude and said that the frames I was thinking of choosing didn't look good on me at all, and then when we were going over lens options for the glasses she was very pushy with us going with the more expensive lenses and told me that I'd have "coke-bottle" eyes if I went with the less expensive options. On top of all of that, the optometrist told me that he would write me out a contact prescription just in case I decided at a later time that I needed them (the visit I had gone for was just for glasses) and when I called back in a few months later to get the supposed contact prescription that he'd written out it was no where to be found and they stated that I'd have to come in for a whole new eye exam less than a year from when I'd previously been in. I'm now having to spend extra money that should have never had to be spent because of their rude behavior and dishonesty. I will definitely not ever be going back to their office or any standard optical and would tell anyone thinking of going there to save your time and go somewhere else. read more

I've been to this location before without any problems, but was very disappointed with my last trip. I have vision insurance, but it only covers one exam a year, and I needed new glasses and had already used my appointment to order contacts, so I decided to go in and do the 2 for $69 deal they have on glasses. I've done this before, and I swear that last time I went I actually only ended up paying $69. However, on this trip to the doctor, despite the fact that I said repeatedly that I was only there for that deal, I ended up being charged $130. This was because they kept lumping things on to my visit. I can understand having to pay for the basic eye exam, which is all I ended up paying for plus the glasses, but they also tried to charge me for several other things that I had told them I didn't need. For example, the doctor wanted me to try a new pair of contacts, even though I told him I had already had a year's supply, but he took me over to the counter and said "Just try these and let me know if you like them better," and then tacked a $45 contact lens fee onto what they were charging me! He also tried to dilate my eyes, which I'm sure would've been another charge, but I told him I didn't want to do that. Then when they went to ring me up, when I was expected $69, it came to $175 with everything! I talked them out of the contact charge, because I hadn't wanted them and he hadn't told me it would cost me anything, but I still ended up paying for the full exam and glasses when the glasses were the only thing I came for. I've been to this location twice before without any problems, but I was very disappointed and will probably not be back. read more
