What hassle to find- but incredibly nice and friendly night team doing MRI's here! Hee
    Kay O.

Goodness, finding this particular location with their silver numbered sign on the tan colored building at night was rather cumbersome! I was able to find their neighbors building, 850 or maybe 875, and the poor lady at the front desk where I was trying to get my MRI had to come find me in the parking lot as I looped around The block a few times! That being said I would have given this particular Clinic five stars but because I got lost for a good 15 minutes, I'm only giving them four stars. Lol I also love the fact that this particular clinic was open late at night so I was able to get down with my workday, have dinner in Palo Alto and then come do my MRI! Perfect way for me to meditate and go to sleep . Then I had to drive home and go to sleep. Lol. The receptionist behind the counter was incredibly friendly and kind and so was the nurse who gave me the gown as well as the two gentlemen conducting the MRI. I was very impressed with their funny and comical personalities. Oh- you also have to pay to park here unless you want to walk in the dark. Lol. By the way, once you drive in to the parking lot, take a right where there is a gate and a pay box that lets you in after dark. That's actually where the building is you just cannot see the 900 number marked on the beige building at night time. I think the building number should be painted black or light up. Perhaps both!

I love Stanford Medical valet services! Having the valet people out front makes it much easier to skip parking when you are running late for an appointment. The fee isn't that much, and most of the time there's not a charge. Not to mention, it's such a welcoming hospital. The information desk is in the front, but you can ask any person working at Stanford Medical for help, and they are more than willing to guide you in the right direction. I love coming here!

This is our second visit to the Stanford Children's ER in the past two weeks. My son's neurological and behavioral symptoms continue to worsen, yet he has not received a full evaluation or treatment for suspected PANS/PANDAS potentially triggered by silent strep. We were referred to neurology, but no evaluation or treatment plan has been initiated. We were also told that the Immune Behavioral Health Clinic (IBH) operates under a separate administration and does not coordinate with the ER. I completed the IBH intake last week, and we were informed there is a two-week waiting period just to determine whether my son will be accepted as a patient. In the meantime, my son has been symptomatic for 13 days with neurological and physical symptoms and has not received appropriate assessment or treatment. Last night, after contacting Guest Services due to my son experiencing chest pain and drooling saliva, we were instructed to come to the ER immediately. However, upon arrival we were again told that no evaluation or treatment for suspected PANS/PANDAS could be provided here, and we were advised to seek care elsewhere. She suggested me to go try PAMF! As a parent who has been awake for over 26 hours trying to obtain care for her child, this situation is extremely distressing. I am respectfully requesting: * Immediate clinical reassessment of my son's current neurological symptoms* Coordination between the ER, neurology, and the Immune Behavioral Health Clinic* Guidance on appropriate treatment while awaiting specialty evaluation Stanford's Immune Behavioral Health Clinic is widely recognized for its expertise in PANS/PANDAS. At this moment, I am simply asking that my son receive appropriate medical evaluation and interim care while we wait for that specialized clinic. This situation is urgent, and I am requesting assistance from patient advocacy services to help coordinate care and ensure that my son receives the evaluation he needs. Thank you for your immediate attention to this matter. Sincerely,Paulina León

I recently had to pay a visit to the Emergency Department at El Camino. I have been to this ER many…read moretimes as well as being a patient in the main hospital for surgeries and the recovery that follows. I have always experienced excellent care here. I have an auto immune disease that sometimes causes my inflammatory markers to skyrocket and this will cause me so much pain, beyond what I can control at home. That's exactly what happened last week. I knew I was in trouble and needed to get to the ER fast. My husband got us there quickly and I checked in. I was taken to the triage area for my vitals. Luckily I'm in their system. And most of my Doctors are connected with El Camino because they are a part of Sutter Health. So the hospital knows my health history. The waiting area was packed with sick people. I'm thinking, this is going to be a long and painful wait. I was called back to see the Dr. within a few minutes, which was surprisingly quick. They got me a wheelchair and took me back. All of my joints were hurting so bad that it hurt to walk. I explained everything to Dr. Tsai. I appreciated that he listened to me and took the time to ask important questions. I told him I was supposed to get labs done tomorrow for my metabolic panel because I wasn't feeling well and I told him that the way I was feeling probably meant my inflammatory markers, ESR and C-reactive protein were probably very high. He told me he would order all those tests immediately and start me off with pain pills first and then progress to stronger IV meds if the pills didn't work. I also mentioned to him that the new medication that I have been taking for this problem has not been working very well and my rheumatologist was trying to get prior authorization to increase the dose of that new medication. That's why my pain had gotten out of hand. I was sent back to the waiting area, again, to wait to get my labs done. I was again called back within a few minutes. I was taken back for the bloodwork. Then taken to a private patient room, where I could lay down in a bed and get my IV started. I met the nurses that would be taking care of me. I let them know that it's hard finding my veins. I appreciated that the nurse believed me and got a vein finder to help with finding a vein. She was able to find one that was deeper, in my arm, but it was a good vein. She got the IV started. Her patience with getting my IV started was awesome. A lot of times nurses don't believe me when I tell them I'm a hard stick. She was wonderful and did an amazing job with my IV. Since the pills didn't work for my pain, we moved on to stronger IV pain medication. I was also felling nauseated from the pain. They didn't hesitate to give me nausea medication, right away. As it turned out, my inflammatory markers were extraordinarily high. They gave me the best pain management over the next several hours and didn't discharge me until my pain was under control and I was more relaxed and calm. Pain like that is horrible. I want to give a huge thank you to Dr. Tsai and nurses for listening to me and my pain concerns and doing everything they could to stabilize me. I have followed up with my doctors and am on a new medication regimen to help with the inflammation. I am finally feeling better. The medical team here, treated me with respect and dignity. Everyone was very professional and kind. I am grateful to the medical team that took care of me that day. Thank you to Dr. Tsai and the nurses that all worked collaboratively, to get me feeling better.

Carol showed the kind of compassion, courage, and skill that you rarely see in any system, and she did it with complete grace. I came to her with concerns about an elderly veteran who was clearly vulnerable and being taken advantage of. Navigating a situation like that is complicated, emotional, and fragile. But Carol handled it in the most thoughtful, respectful way I've ever witnessed. She protected him without making him feel embarrassed, criticized, or ashamed. She made him feel safe -- and she made me feel safe too. She asked careful questions, looked at the situation from every angle, and gently guided the conversation so everyone's needs were honored. She set boundaries without hurting anyone's feelings. She advocated without escalating. And she managed to defend someone who needed protection without making a single person defensive. That is a rare gift. For the first time in a long time, I saw a VA staff member step into a difficult situation with genuine compassion, wisdom, and patience. She didn't judge, she didn't rush, and she didn't dismiss anything we shared. Instead, she created a calm space where the veteran felt respected, supported, and understood. I walked away thinking: This is what advocacy is supposed to look like. If the VA had more people like Carol--people who can be both protective and kind, both strong and gentle--the entire system would feel different for veterans and for the families who support them. She is truly exceptional.
