Truly, from the bottom of my heart, I don't know where I would be today without Dr. Young! I highly recommend her to anyone in need of a knowledgeable and caring specialist! The assistant who scanned my heart previously was very nice and remembered my condition even after more than a year. (Also, their appointments are very sparse throughout the year.) This cardiologist seemed more interested in how I was dressed than in my heart. This, among other things, made me feel very uncomfortable. I remember her making sure that I understood her comment about my clothes, saying it twice. I felt more comfortable around her assistant, who is a male, than her. I am on Medi-Cal, but she kept recommending that I change my insurance to cover some additional and very rare examinations. As if I can do that overnight. She doesn't talk to you; she just nods and says very few words. There's no opportunity to express concerns. I have been in contact with cardiologists all my life, both for myself and for other people. Everyone has their own character, and I accept that as long as it doesn't become unacceptable conduct. I did not go to my last visit, to collect all my exams because of this. And I am procrastinating exactly because of this cardiologist.

Beginning in the summer of 2025 on or about late June or early July, I developed a severe case of…read moreshortness of breath. Just walking from my carport to my front door with a few groceries or even vacuuming my condo unit resulted in my being out of breath ... definitely not normal! As most people would do, I went to my primary care physician to report my alarming condition and he referred me to both a pulmonologist and a cardiologist/interventionist. What follows is a layered narrative of my nearly 1-year journey to determine the cause of my shortness of breath. Like many things in my life script, I was very fortunate to be paired with a cardiologist / interventionist named Dr. CHRISTINE S WONG at the Southern California Heart Centers. She began her investigation into my alarming issue with a simple echocardiogram which revealed that I had an injection fraction of 40% - 45% which was alarmingly low since a normal ejection fraction is 55 - 70%! Over the ensuing months, which followed, Dr. Wong undertook a studied, focused and dedicated effort to determine the specific root and cause of my condition whether it was based on pulmonary issues or heart issues or perhaps a little of both. With a gravity of purpose, and the immediate prospect of a successful execution of an angiogram, she was able to determine that the valves in my heart were basically free of plaque buildup + any other particulate matter, which could almost be expected for a patient at age 69 - 70. With great articulatory precision in language, Dr Wong clearly explained the purpose of each and every procedure and the reasons why each and every step was necessary in determining the alarming cause of my shortness of breath, even for the most minor of physical activities. After this visit, she prescribed 3 medication's, which were meant to make my heart work less and have the peripheral result of also reducing my blood pressure though that was never an issue for me. Next on my plate of extensive tests was an MRI of my heart which she conveniently arranged for me at the UCI Health Campus in the city of Orange, which is only a short 20 minute drive from my home in Seal Beach! The results of my MRI were eye-opening as they revealed my ejection fraction had gone from 40% - 45% almost a year ago up to a very healthy 61% and it was manifested by my not being out of breath anymore for even the most minute of physical activities! At every step of the way Dr Christine Wong has operated clear of eye, strong of voice, sound of mind and steady of hand both literally and figuratively! As of today, Sunday, July 5, 2026 my heart medications have been reduced to one which is Entresto. My ejection fraction is holding steady in the 60% range as my heart has arguably returned to "normal" whatever normal is! The cause of my shortness of breath was determined to be most likely a virus, which had infected my heart causing it to work less efficiently. By prescribing the pills that Dr. Wong did for me, it allowed my heart to work less hard while my body's immune system spent more time fighting off the virus which took months to do so, but with a very successful outcome! The quality of care I have received from Dr Christine Wong is a "10+" and I stand up and cheer as one and yield to no one in my limitless praise of Dr. Wong's skill as a licensed physician and surgeon! My only concern was the crowded clinic that I always encountered at the main Southern California Heart Centers office in the city of San Gabriel which had a flood of standing room only patients many from a background of reduced circumstances. That concern was eventually addressed as I now see her in the far less crowded Arcadia satellite office, which is next to my hometown of Monrovia; each and every visit has now been a pleasant one where my appointment times are generally met and if she is late in seeing me, it's never for more than 5 or 10 minutes. It's never like what I used to experience at the main office in San Gabriel, where seeing Dr Wong an hour to an 1 1/2 after my appointment time was not unusual! I highly recommend interventionist Dr Christine M Wong in the strongest terms possible given the size, scope and scale of my initial condition, which has now been nearly 100% resolved to a positive outcome, resolution, and conclusion! --

If you similar issues and need accomodations, either have someone drop you off and park or go with a different provider. Because of this office's location on Garfield there is one sole handicap parking spot right at the rear entrance and there is a somewhat steep tiled incline right as you step into the office from the back door (not sure how anyone on a wheel chair would navigate that safely). I was on crutches due to a knee injury and had to inch my way precariously down this incline and pray my crutch didn't slip and that I'd fall. There was a worker from the office coming behind me that kind of spotted me until I made it down which was nice of her to do. The office is oblong so the hallway to the front is fairly long. As I walked down the hallway on my crutches I passed doors to various exam rooms, storage rooms and rooms that looked like storage rooms that doubled as exam rooms or vice versa. Along the way I asked to use the restroom and upon observation, it was pretty gnarly. There no toilet seat covers, there was old equipment including a decrepit wheel chair in there against the wall and the cleanliness of the floor was questionable. There was cleaning products (Kaboom!) in a corner on the floor. In a nutshell, with the exception of the waiting room which was I would give a grade of C for passing, the rest of the office I would grade as a D- as it was generally unclean, outdated and poorly maintained. It reminded me of what a doctor's office in a 3rd world country might look like. I wondered if I was being too picky but I read other reviews that also mention the poor state of the office so I don't think it's just me. After being told it would be a two hour wait, because of my experience/observations of the office thus far and the precarious state of my knee (I have good and bad days), instead of biting the bullet and waiting to get the EKG done, I decided to call my surgeon's office and see if I could request another cardiologist with a more accessible, clean, updated and accommodating office within my IPA network (and I was successful). My review only reflects my experience of the actual office and its atmosphere solely and is not a reflection of any experience with Dr. Yee as I did not stay to meet with him. I also don't really have anything negative to say about the staff either.

Wow. Just wow... Let me first say that I am a long time…read morepatient of Dr Lee (at Pasadena location), who is very professional, kind and I trust him. But, today I called the office in Pasadena to follow up on a prescription issue. So, yeah... I got annoyed when the "nurse" Ana tells me twice that when I change pharmacies I need to make sure to let them know. Well, I changed pharmacies 3 years ago, notified the office staff 2 times since then, what more do I need to do? For some reason, "nurse" Ana felt the need to repeat to me that I need to let them know when I change pharmacies to avoid issues like the one I called about today. I told her that this error was not my fault, as I had notified the staff at their office previously a few times already. I repeated this was not my fault. Well, something about that made her lose it. She was already short and rude with me to start, but at this point she yells at me (as if I was her child or something) that she did not say it was my fault and that I need to listen to her and then all I heard was "blah blah blah"... because it was taking every ounce of my energy to not yell right back at her. I asked her to not yell at me. Then in a softer tone said she wasn't yelling and that she was only trying to tell me that I need to let them know when I change pharmacies. So, now I felt like I was trapped in a bad episode of Seinfeld or something. I was upset because she yelled at ME, when THEY were the ones who made a mistake, didn't notice that I had changed pharmacies a long time ago, and they were faxing the wrong pharmacy because of their own oversight. Do you think I got an "I'm sorry"... nope. In fact, I'm pretty sure she cussed me out after we hung up the phone. Ooo she was mad! I sure hope someone at the office reads this, because someone needs to have a talk with "nurse" Ana. She either hates her job, is a miserable woman taking it out on others, or needs some anger management. Or... she may not realize that she is in a customer service role (as a nurse, no less) where I am her customer (a patient, who's blood pressure may be a little higher after being yelled at) and she needs to remain calm and empathetic in her job! Oh, and, by the way... Ana: if you ever yell at me again, I will yell at you right back next next time and let it out on you directly, rather than vent on Yelp. Good day!
