Went to Dr. Schiff to his Vienna office for a consultation on getting my wisdom teeth removed. I spoke to a receptionist for over 20 minutes discussing my situation (I'm a student) and how it was important to me in terms of cost. I also asked him what kind of coding would be used and discussed with him what my insurance company covered. WOW was this concern completely ignored. The consultation itself ended up being 198.00??? That's ridiculous and because of HOW they billed the exam, it's uncovered by my medical provider, Aetna. I could not believe it. They refused to resubmit the billing codes because they're more concerned with getting their money upfront - which in all honesty, I can understand. The consultation with Dr. Schiff went fine. He was efficient, asked me if I had any concerns, but was on the quick side. He alleviated my fears and I would have loved to continue going to his office, but if I'm already seeing a hiccup in the billing process on the consultation, I don't think I can literally afford to go through the actual procedure. Listen to the other reviewers on DrOogle. Dr. Schiff might be good, but there are other oral surgeons out there that provide better care at a better price.

I finally decided that this was my year, and put lots of money in my FSA just so I would use it before the year was over. Dr. Merlo was recommended by my new dentist, and knowing about my 4 impacted (2 horizontal) wisdom teeth, I wanted someone with lots of experience. From the consultation to the actual surgery day, he was always calm, direct, no nonsense... which is exactly what I needed. As an extremely nervous person (And this was my first surgery), his attitude was exactly what helped. My surgery was perfect - waited 10 minutes to finalize paperwork and billing (good price too!), then quick set up. I went under in less than 20 seconds (I also was already sleepy) and by the time I woke up, we were done and ready to move me to a recovery room. I didn't have any nausea or dizziness, just the usual bleeding and pain that you would expected for a surgery. I've been resting at home and enjoying the downtime catching up on my new favorite show - bleeding has stop, swelling is minimal, and i'm a bit uncomfortable but not in pain. As a nervous patient, that says a lot! The only not-so-great thing about my experience was the front office - they didn't return my email asking for a consultation so I had to call them, and they didn't get my Xray from the dentist's office despite having 3 weeks to do so before my consultation. It was all square away quickly - but make sure to request the xray yourself to save time. Highly recommend and finger crossed for a speedy recovery!

I mean nothing at all. I can now proudly say that "I'd rather have a root canal" while doing many of the unpleasant things that I have to do in life (waiting in line at Trader Joes, separating the trash from the recyclables, doing my tax return). Dr. Soluti is a perfectionist when it comes to his work, and you can tell. That means that he might take longer to do some things, or that he will do an x-ray several times, but don't you want perfection when it comes to someone rooting around inside your teeth? The other thing that's cool is that the office doesn't just view this as a "one and done" procedure. All of their follow-up appointments and xrays are complimentary. And apparently they keep an eye on your tooth for a couple of years. The one thing that might be better is if they had a TV that you could watch during your procedure. I know it's a little snobby, but 1.5 hours with your mouth open can get quite boring.

Dr. Soluti was prepared to give me a root canal, but when I went in he ran a few tests, did a few xrays and still no need for a root canal. He could have easily drilled away and made a handsome sum, but instead he told me the truth. He's a good man and I'll go to him for any other problems I have. Highly Highly Recommended! (Moral of the story: Always get a second opinion!)

I am…read morehaving a 6-year-old root canal fixed and even if we were not in a pandemic, my anxiety level about this procedure (or procedureS in my case) would have been pretty high ... and with the added stress of social isolation and having to continue to work at a hospital where many staff and patients have tested positive, my anxiety was through the roof. I have felt very safe throughout my visits though because Dr. Blumenkranz has told me what to expect -- whether it be the level of noise or vibration of the drill. While I still consider these appointments as a kind of torture, it has not been as painful as I anticipated and the level of trust I have in him has TRULY lowered my anxiety level to as low as can be expected in the time of Covid.
