We took the trolley through Stanley park, starting with the aquarium- which was one of the best we've ever visited! So many beautiful stopping points in the park, truly a must see when visiting the city. You can spend two hours, or all day!
Stanley Park was at the top of my must-do list while visiting Vancouver--and it was easily one of my favorite activities. The urban park spans over 1,000 lush acres and has such a rich history. It officially opened as a public park in 1888, named after Lord Stanley, Canada's Governor General at the time. We decided to experience it in the best way possible: on two wheels. After renting bicycles near Coal Harbor, we set off along the park's famous seawall--a scenic path that loops around the entire perimeter and offers nonstop views of ocean, mountains, city, and skyline. It's the kind of ride where you find yourself stopping often because every turn reveals beautiful views. Along the way, we made stops at some of the park's most iconic landmarks. The Stanley Park Totem Poles were vibrant and deeply rooted in Indigenous culture and storytelling. We continued on to the Girl in a Wetsuit statue, and then made our way up to Prospect Point. Don't forget to take in the view of the Lions Gate Bridge stretching across the water! Further along, we stopped to admire Siwash Rock before finishing our route near A-maze-ing Laughter by English Bay. After hours of heavy rain, we got incredibly lucky--the skies cleared what felt like just for us, and we were able to enjoy the entire ride in fresh, crisp air. I was so happy seeing the beaches along the way and the tree-lined paths glowing with orange leaves as we soaked in the last bits of autumn. Best of all, we were treated to a beautiful sunset at English Bay. It felt like the perfect closing moment--peaceful, golden, and well-earned after a full loop around the park. I can't recommend visiting Stanley Park enough. Wish we had enough time to visit the teahouse, but will have to save that for next time. If you're short on time but want to see a lot, biking the seawall is absolutely the way to go. It's active, scenic, and such a memorable way to experience one of Vancouver's most beloved places.

Stanley Park - one of Vancouvers must see & experience parks. I've dropped plenty pictures of Stanley Park over the years under my - City of Vancouver - review. Over time I realized, this jewel deserves its own review. One of Vancouvers big draws for tourists, this is a stunning park minutes from downtown Vancouver. I have visited dozens of times & brought many out of town family & friends to see Stanley Park. I often go during the summer months but will not hesitate to drop in during the Fall or Winter. Things to do here - bike, walk, jog, scooter, rollerblade, sight see, visit the aquarium, enjoy a summer concert & more. Take a ride around via horse & carriage if you like. There's even a beach on the west side of the park to chill out on. As you walk around the outer perimeter of the park, the views are breathtaking - the ocean, downtown Vancouver, the mountains, the Lionsgate Bridge, the skyline - all gorgeous. A walk around the seawall can take up to 90mins, depending on how often you stop along the way. Oh you definitely will be making a few stops along the way to capture those picture perfect shots. The trees in this park are iconic - age & beauty, so keep an eye out. Head to Prospect Point, facing West Vancouver, & make that proposal to your future spouse, at this stunning view point. As you wind your way around the park, you end up at Second Beach Pool - a large beautiful heated pool, open during late spring through to the end of summer. At the centre of the park is the popular Vancouver Aquarium, recommended for families with kids to come check out. Post pandemic (Covid-19) in late 2021 into year 2022, Stanley Park became notorious for severe attacks on people by - coyotes. It took a while for government to get control of the situation. It was definitely a scary time to go through the park back then. Hot tip alert - if you drive here & park, do not leave your wallets or passports in your car! And do not even get out of your car, & proceed to put anything in the trunk, ie jacket. Unfortunately theives operate here - you won't see them but they are here hiding in the bushes. I have scootered around the entire park. Some passage way on the far western side is just too narrow & gets too crowded. I'd recommend scootering around the park in an anticlockwise pattern, getting to the Lions Gate Bridge & then turning right back around. For sanitys sake.
Very well kept and easy to follow biking and walking paths. Beautiful scenery!!! There are a few slow zones if you're riding a bike where you must walk the bike. There are a couple attractions and activities along the route like totem poles, light houses, and even a swimming pool and park! Very busy on weekends and weekdays.
we drove around stanley park after dinner and caught the sunset, hoping to catch a glimpse of a humpback whale or maybe even a pod of orcas passing through the water. no such luck this time, but honestly the park still delivered. instead, we spotted a seagull standing perfectly still with a starfish clamped proudly in its mouth like some kind of seafood trophy. it looked both deeply proud of itself and slightly terrified to move in case it dropped its prize. it's easy to understand why stanley park is considered vancouver's most famous attraction. somehow this enormous urban park manages to combine rainforest, beaches, wildlife, gardens, ocean views, and the downtown skyline all in one place without ever feeling overly busy or commercialised. the drive through the park alone is worth it. take your time, there is construction going on right now. winding roads curve beneath towering western red cedars, douglas firs, and hemlocks before suddenly opening up to sweeping coastal views. every turn feels completely different from the last. the stanley park seawall is really the centrepiece of the entire experience. wrapping around the waterfront with nearly nonstop views of english bay, burrard inlet, lions gate bridge, the north shore mountains, and the vancouver skyline, it's the kind of place where people naturally slow down. cyclists cruise past runners, dog walkers stop to admire the scenery, tourists pause every few metres for photos, and families wander along the path with ice cream in hand. prospect point was easily one of the highlights, especially near sunset with the view stretching towards lions gate bridge and the mountains beyond. brockton point lighthouse added another classic postcard view, while the sailboats gathered near the royal vancouver yacht club made the harbour glow in the evening light. along the seawall we passed the scuba diver statue resting casually on a rock beside the water, definitely a scuba diver, not a mermaid, and somehow it perfectly matches the atmosphere of the park: peaceful, slightly quirky, and unmistakably west coast. lost lagoon brought a completely different energy from the oceanfront sections of the park. surrounded by trees and calm walking paths, the water reflected the skyline while ducks, geese, and other birds drifted quietly across the surface. second beach and third beach were both full of people making the most of the evening. second beach has the famous heated outdoor pool sitting right beside the ocean, along with volleyball courts, picnic areas, and one of the best sunset spots in the park. third beach felt quieter and more tucked away, with people stretched out on driftwood logs watching the sky slowly shift colours over english bay. nearby, the teahouse sits hidden among the trees, blending naturally into the surroundings. what makes stanley park stand out is how much there is beyond the famous seawall. tucked throughout the park are forest trails, gardens, playgrounds, tennis courts, public art, wildlife viewing areas, the pitch and putt golf course, and the vancouver aquarium hidden among the trees. despite sitting beside downtown vancouver, the park rarely feels urban. within minutes you can go from skyline views and busy pathways to quiet forest roads where all you hear is wind moving through the trees and waves hitting the shoreline. it's the contrast that makes the place memorable. even without spotting whales or orcas, the evening felt unforgettable. stanley park isn't just a place you visit once for the photos, it's the kind of place you keep wanting to return to because every section of it feels slightly different from the last.
I'm a firm believer that the best way to experience a new city is by visiting a park, and Stanley Park in Vancouver is the quintessential case. It's the third-largest urban park in North America and even bigger than Central Park in NYC. Unlike other large urban parks that were designed by architects, Stanley Park is a naturally occurring rainforest ecosystem that evolved from a forest and urban space over time. It attracts 18 million visitors per year. The park is also a darling child of Western travel media, regularly earning praise from companies such as TripAdvisor and Conde Nast Traveler as the top/most beautiful park in the world. The park is indeed absolutely stunning. When I visited, it was bustling with activity, and I observed people in the park from all different walks of life. I am personally an active traveler. I would have loved to have some dedicated time to go hiking and explore the park more extensively, but my friend who accompanied me on the trip is more of a leisure traveler. So, we spent the majority of our time in the park lounging and enjoying an incredible sunset at the beach. Gorgeous spot for a walk. Visited on a beautiful sunny day and got to walk along the sea wall. Had a great time. The totem poles are so cool. Great views of multiple points of the city. Its busy but still enjoyable. Lots of bikes and pedestrians. Can also drive through and see things while driving. We even saw a bald eagle flying above us!!
Visited the Harry Potter forbidden forest event at Stanley Park and it was a 10/10. The attention to detail was great. The staff were friendly as well and helpful In organizing parking etc. the lights, sound and music , as well as figures all throughout was a magical experience.
BEAUTIFUL PARK, runners/walkers/roller skaters. two lanes for ppl on feet vs wheels. very safe, abt 6mi to make one loop around lake + park, u go under the bridge, u get a view of the beaches, ferries, seagulls, u enter parks. U NEED TO ADD THIS TO UR ITINERARY!! go biking for $10 an hour is so worth it!! yummy waterfront dining areas surrounding
Pros: The people of Vancouver are so lucky to have something like this. If I lived here, I would be biking this route once a week. We saw multiple seals playing in the water. There's a tea place towards the end. Cons: very very crowded. Lots of rude people.

YOU. MUST. VISIT. STANLEY. No questions asked. If you're here for a weekend... hell, if you're here for 24 hours, you must visit Stanley. So the key is to rent bikes and go around the entire park (before going to Stanley). Notice how I said "BEFORE" going to Stanley? Yeah, I didn't know that and bussed all the way here and then asked around where the bike rentals were and they told me I had to rent it outside the park before coming all the way. So I took the bus out to the city again - and got off on Denman (where all the rental places were). Went to Yes Cycle to rent and then took it back to the park. Beautiful scenic views of all sides of the city. Even though it was grey and cloudy when I came (end of Oct), I still loved my ride around the entire park. If I lived here, I'd probably be here every weekend. read more

We decided to bike around Stanley Park so we could see all the sights and ride along the seawall. We rented bikes and headed out counterclockwise around the park. At a certain point the seawall is only one way going counterclockwise so keep this in mind if you plan to ride. We took about 2.5 hours to do the ride and stopped at all the sights for photos. We rode down to the Inukshuk statue south of English Beach and then back to the rental place. It was a pretty easy ride there were a few hills near the pool and English beach. read more
Beautiful beautiful park. Reminds me of Central Park with all the massive trees and gardens. I biked around the perimeter of the park and drove around as well. It's surrounded by water, and had a great view of downtown and north Vancouver. You can walk, bike, roller blade, or take a horse tour through and around the park. Definitely a must visit if your visiting Vancouver. read more

There are few places like Stanley Park in the world... most big cities have a green space of some sorts but I find very few have such a forest preserve, garden space, coastline walking & bike path, AND cultural landmarks to explore. Honestly, I wasn't prepared to love Stanley as much as I did. I had no idea how vast and huge this place was. I figured an hour or so and it's good ... no, if you do this place ANY justice, you'd at least spend 2 hours biking the seawall at a minimum. Ideally, you'd do that, go to the Aquarium, check out the totems, gardens, and the other cultural landmarks ... ALL the while taking pictures and looking at how stunning the landscape is around you. Hopefully not in a downpour but it's Vancouver and the only guarantee is rain at times. Anyhow, it's safe to say you could spend easily 2 days here and not repeat anything. If you want to do some inner city exploring of the forest, that could easily take up another few hours. I do love it here as it's quite peaceful... biking along the seawall seems quintessentially Vancouver. You can rent bikes nearby in the shops or use one of the ones set up at the park. They're quite cheap ($9+/hour) and its the best way to see the most of the park in the shortest of time. Do not do what I did... I got mixed up on the directions. The seawall that goes around the perimeter of the entire park is COUNTER CLOCKWISE for bicycles. I totally believe everyone should do this. If you do this during summer weekend, I've heard this can be quite busy. The path is quite gentle and easy for even beginning cyclists but if it gets busy, I can see some of the narrower paths get a bit more challenging. One thing I do love ... there's always an easy way to push your bike off to the side to enjoy the view no matter where you on the path. Anyhow, the other aspects that are great Vancouver Aquarium which has otters! The stoic Totems and their history are in view. The interesting 'gun' that fires each night at 9 pm (NO where has a 'gun' been that size Vancouver... it's a cannon). Lots of beautiful beaches, lake side seating, interior hiking, kid pools and playgrounds, prospect point, lighthouse, the gardens... and on top of that there's tours and even restaurants. Like I said, you can spend hours if not days here... it's quite idyllic and unique. It should be on every visitor's must do list. read more
Any visit to Vancouver is incomplete without a trip to Stanley Park. There are many way to do this and I see that many people recommend biking, and that is certainly a good option as the park is just too big to explore entirely on foot. Drive and park is another option if you don't mind paying for parking at every stop. However, this option will let you explore the entire park in less time and you can focus on the highlights at each stop. For a tourist who have only a few hours to spare, this might be the way to go, and that's what we did. There are so many places to see. For visitors, the totem poles are a must-see, and so is the panoramic view of the harbor from the waterfront. If you drive around you could easily get lost, just like I did. But it's ok, as every turn will take you to a place that will take your breath away. Don't worry. Just keep going. No turn is a wrong turn (just don't go the wrong way). Enjoy. Relax. Rejuvenate. You'll see trees taller and bigger than any ones that you've ever seen before. You'll find interesting statues and sculptures scattered in various places along the way. There are restaurants and snack bars to satisfy your appetite and gift shops for you to grab that perfect souvenir. We bought a replica of a totem pole and we loved it! It's hard to describe Stanley Park in words. You just have to be there to capture this out-of-this-world experience. But in a few words: grand, majestic, heavenly, peaceful, breathtaking. Definitely a must-see when you visit Vancouver. I'm not exaggerating when I say this is one of the best places to visit in Vancouver, and one of the best parks I've ever been to in the world. The park itself is about The Seawall: My friend and I decided to walk the entire thing, which was doable. We are pretty fit, but walking the entire thing, plus making all the detours and stops along the way, can be tiring (but well worth it). There is a separate bike trail and walking trail which is GREAT because I'm sure bikers hate pedestrians getting in the way and vice versa. Definitely grab a map upon entering and make some of the detours! Walk along the seawall, visit the totem poles, the aquarium, the lighthouse, and prospect point. IMO, the biking/rollerblading/walking along the seawall and taking the detours is the best way to get a full view of Vancouver. The detours: There are many! Make sure to keep a map with you. The Totem Poles are cool with side stories, and pretty famous, so make sure to stop by those. There is also a "beaver lake" but we didn't actually get to see any beavers which was a little disappointing. There are plenty of food options which is GREAT, because trust me, walking along the seawall gets you hungry. Prospect point has beautiful views, and is well worth the hike. All in all, Stanley Park is great! No complaints--super clean, well-organized, and a lot of fun! read more
I've visited this park on several occasions but during this trip was the first time we actually spent a great deal of time here and it certainly did not dissapoint. Aside from the infamous totem poles that ppl come to see, there is so much more to this park. You can literally spend an entire day here. There is so much to explore and I think the best way would be by bike. We experienced the Vancouver aquarium the day before, which can also take up an entire day in itself. We spent some time At third beach, the kids water splash park, and walked along prospect point and was able to go directly beneath the lions gate bridge to the lighthouse. We also passed the large pool by second beach and stopped for yummy ice cream and enjoyed the scenic views at prospect point viewing area. Great place for families and kids in the summer time. Grab picnic food, sunscreen, a change of clothes for the little ones and you're in a for a fun day outdoors! read more

This park is absolutely phenomenal. One of the most well taken care of and large parks I've been to! It's a great place go chill out in the sum and relax under the shade of a giant tree while taking in the sites of the surrounding mountains and the city of Vancouver. I would just rent one of the cheap bikes and go around the whole park. It'll take you about 2.5 hours if you want to bike around the whole thing without stopping but it's well worth it (some cool attractions along the way like totem poles). Definitely a must visit and their is ample parking if you don't want to walk or bike for cheap. read more

HUGE park! Totally can make it a day trip~ Lots of things to do miniature railway, lake, aquarium, Indian totem poles, gorgeous gardens, etc. Perfect place to ride the bike and explore the park! The park is beautiful and clean. Special bike lanes. Follow the map, you will see the marina, the skyscrapers, lake, garden, etc. This is definitely the landmark in Vancouver and absolute place to visit if you go to Vancouver! read more

If you want beautiful scenery from green acres, rose gardens, and skyline views.. Look no further than Stanley park. You can get lost in there for hours & it'll be a gorgeous wanderlust filled walk or bike ride. You can and definitely should be able to cross off "Biking the Stanley Park" from your bucket list if you ever get the chance to make it up to Vancouver. It's a gem in so many ways. Heads up(s): - Biking Stanley park takes a good hour, so you can fit in plenty of sight seeing as you go through the ride. Sunny days are perfect but for those who don't live in Vancouver or have never been-- Bundle up a bit because those bike rides could get pretty breezy! Also, if you plan to make a bunch of stops on bike.. Get a lock from the place you rent it at! Such a good necessity for new-comers! - Aquarium & Totem poles are all located within the Stanley park. - One of the best spots to really catch the skyline ENJOY, travelers! read more

We had a our evening walk at Stanley park walking trail with a fantastic city view today. The park is humongous.. has walking, biking trails, and have great spots for picnic with your family. Pet friendly park. If you are not in a mood to walk or bike.. you can drive through the beautiful Stanley park... perfect getaway into the nature from concrete jungle. Have become my favorite park in the city. read more

Stanley Park has to be one of the world's best urban parks. While I've only had the pleasure of spending short amounts of time there over the years, each visit has been thrilling! The natural beauty is stunning. The number of activities...sites to visit - all incredible. My latest visit took me through mind-blowing stands of forest, sweeping views of water, city and forests. I loved the bike friendly paths in the park and the respect given to Vancouver's native culture - the totem poles at Brockton Point. I love the outdoors and for me, Stanley Park stands atop at the greatest urban parks I've ever visited. What an amazing place! 5 stars isn't enough, but it's all I've got! read more
Stanley Park is one of the urban forest jewels of North America. I visit every time I'm in Vancouver...usually twice annually, winter and summer. Never miss a visit. It's about 1000 acres of West Coast forest including Red Cedar, Hemlock and Douglas fir. You can bike, roller-blade, jog or walk the outer perimeter seawall. Full distance is 5.5 miles. My path is somewhat shorter at 4 miles that starts where Bus #19 drops you off inside the park from downtown and my walking route ends at the park entrance on Georgia Street. Notables: * Sea level tide changes over 8 feet so the scenery changes with the tide * Seawall path is kept separate from auto and bus traffic * In winter, the park is special because of eerie quiet and feeling of aloneness...so different than a visit in summer popular with tourists and locals. [Alert: there can be spots of ice in winter] * In summer, take advantage of the 16+ hours of daylight...can be in the park very early or enjoy until late at nite. * Breathtaking views of Northern Vancouver, Point Grey Peninsula (location of UBC Campus) and Strait of Georgia. Tip: During peak tourist season, I'd choose public transit over driving and pay parking (everywhere in the park) read more

This park is massive and beautiful. The lush greenery, blooming flowers, and well maintained landscaping all add to the gorgeous scenery. There's a trail lined with a scenic sea wall perfect for exercising with a gorgeous backdrop. There are vantage points, gardens, monuments, totem poles, and many other points of interests for camera shots or just visual pleasure. Also, the park offers an aquarium, splash park, beaches, picnics areas, tennis courts, and more making this fun for the whole family. There are also a few dining options located within the park as well. Free admission, paid parking. read more
I felt like Stanley Park was the highlight of my trip to Vancouver. We rented bikes so that we could go on the paths in the woods. It was exquisite, I just couldn't stop marveling at all of the tall trees and loved how we were just out in the middle of nature. We rode around some of the ponds and the lily pads were incredible. The Totem poles were cool, but I enjoyed being in the woods and also riding along the waterfront. What a great way to spend the day. read more
This is one of my favorite places to take a jog when the weather is nice and the temperature is warm. The peninsula has a sea wall that accommodates both runners and bikers. It could get rather windy at some areas so I would recommend wearing an extra layer. read more
We walked around the east side of Stanley Park for a while. Stanley Park is a 1,001 acre public park that borders downtown. This year, Trip Advisor named it the top park in the entire world! The walkway is currently 22 kilometres (14 mi) from end to end, making it the world's longest uninterrupted waterfront walkway. Walking the loop takes two to three hours. We stopped to take a look at the totem poles. Very cool! There were local artists with paintings for sale. It was nice and sunny and a great day to explore the park! read more

Clearly defined and paved paths for running and biking? Check A plethora of well signed attractions and roads for the driving types to get to them? Check Plenty of forested trails so the hiking-inclined can get their lost-in-the-woods fix? Check Beaches? Check Benches for book reading? Check Wonderful city and mountain views? Check Wildlife? Checkmate When I was there, we saw otters in the lagoon, black squirrels in the trees, tons of interesting ducks and herons, and no joke some chickadees even flew down onto my wife's hand. That's some real-life Disney shit right there. Still looking for Bambi... In sum, Stanley Park is a superb one-size-fits-all park. Great spot for exercising, hiking, or picnicking for the locals, equally great spot for tourists to stroll, explore, and admire. read more

Every Week hundreds, if not thousands come to hear us throw our hearts down in the magic as the dance fuels the rhythm. It's indescribably magical, we give 150%. Great sighting. Start from Seawall, move to Brokton Point with light house and view to Lions Gate bridge. Move a bit more to Prospect point to use the restroom, get some ice cream/food and enjoy stunning view closer to Lions Gate Bridge. After that loop to go to Third Beach. It will be about 1 hour if you stop at each location about 10 minutes. MUST SEE. Con: pay parking. read more
Oh what can I say about my friend Stanley..... Amazing Beautiful Stanley Park. I can't believe I live in Vancouver! Ok i don't I live in Burnaby (20mins away) but I love coming here, rain, sun or even snow this place is breathtaking.. The Pacific Ocean and the view of Vancouver skyline nothing beats it. I come her to run or walk great path just beware of the lanes one for walking/running and the other for cyclist. Also some great trails. In the summer it gets crowded with tourist but I don't mind it's ok to share this beautiful place with the rest of the world. read more
Stanley Park was pretty awesome when we visited last month. It's a huge urban park, reminds me so much of New York's Central Park, except it's surrounded by water. We saw horse-drawn carriages, bicycles, and plenty of hikers. There is the totem pole exhibit right inside the park for anyone to visit. There is a gift shop right next to that exhibit if you wish to buy some souvenirs. Parking is plentiful but you must pay. I think it was around $3.25 per hour. We were able to explore Beaver Lake right inside the middle of the park! It's a short hike. Lots of photo opportunities around the entire park too. Fresh air. In particular, we like Prospect Point. Lighting is best at dusk, with great views of the bay & bridge. Be sure to check this out when you are in Vancouver! read more

Review #065 - 2018 Such a beautiful park, where you can get a full view of Vancouver from every angle. I'm super grateful that my evil brother-in-law's wife is as big of a tourist as I am and she enjoys taking photos because she made my life so much easier by knowing where to stop and how to pose--since they've been here with other family members before. She helped me get the most out of my experience at Stanley Park in a very short amount of time. While we were hoping in and out for photo opps, we came across two couples who were doing their wedding photoshoot under all the beautiful cherry blossoms, which I didn't get a chance to do, because my evil brother-in-law was being impatient. If you have time, make sure to stop by and take in the beauty that this park has to offer because it's just so breathtaking from every angle. read more

One of the nicest bike rides I have been on in my life. Had a tandem bike and my 8 year old son was on the back. Was nice and level with the ocean on one side and the park on the other. Amazing views of the city, mountains, a bridge. This is a must if you visit Vancouver. read more
A sunny day appeared in between these cloudy-windy, rainy days! It was like being sober and seeing an unicorn flying. Without hesitation, we knew it was time to explore that enclave in where nature can follow it's course. A forest that has been shaped by and with the city, no architects involved. If you want a healthy way to get ridden of the daily stress, walk, run, or bike the Seawall path. 10 km of the most beautiful landscapes Vancity has to offer. If you want to rent a bike, there are 3-4 mobi bikes stations inside the park, that will cost you $9 something. However, you'll need to plug the bike back every 30 minutes, or you'll need to pay $5 extra as penalty. I think one day is not enough to discover all the treasures this amazingly vibrant place has to offer. At the totems' area you'll find a cute souvenir shop with a good coffee provider inside. Next time I'll stop by before walking further, so my stomach might let me contemplate more. read more
