Our horse and carriage ride through the park was the non food-related highlight of our trip! Equipped with blankets and hot chocolate, the nearly hour-long guided tour through the park was a romantic, gorgeous, relaxing and educational experience. Our guide delivered constant tidbits of historical information, all with a sense of humor and whimsy. The light rain didn't damper the day by any means; it just made huddling under the blankets a more cozy experience. I couldn't have asked for anything more! read more

Never too dull even during the worst time of the year. A great place for a walk, bikeride, tennis or pitchn putt

This park is one of the main reasons why I love Vancouver and longingly wished I lived there. I don't know what captivated me more...the rock sculptures, the clean, clear waters, Lion's Gate Bridge, the Aquarium, the feisty black squirrels jacking food from the magpies, or that otter floating on his back, eating his catch and chillin' in the sunshine. How you maintain such robust natural beauty in the middle of a city is amazing, but I must tip my hat to you Vancouverites; you know how to take a girl's breath away. A warm [and cute] stranger played tour guide and we walked the whole park together in the wonderful shroud of evergreen silence. Watching the kids play and eat a basket of fish and chips in their down time made my last day of vacation a serene day to relive in my memories. Quirky thing happened, though. As we walked , we caught this guy beat the shit out of the lake. Like seriously...with a stick. I assume it was a film shoot, but it was oddly kinda cool. Long story short, I like your vibe, Vancouver. Your water nourishes some beautiful landscape, happy people and cute dudes. I can see now why you're proud Canadians. read more

There really isn't much to see at this park for tourists. It's more of a park for locals to picnic/walk/run/bike/hike. The park is huge so you should drive to one area, get out and walk around and then drive to the next area and repeat. As long as you keep your parking ticket you can park anywhere in the park for the whole day. read more

Stanley Park is a must do for anyone visiting or even living in Vancouver. It's such a wonderful gem that, in my opinion, easily trumps High Park in Toronto and rivals Central Park in New York City in its beauty. No matter what your hobbies and interests are, you will likely find something to do in Stanley Park. There are hundreds of walking trails, bike trails, attractions such as totem poles...you name it. You also don't even need to drive to get there; I took bus #19 from downtown and it got me to the middle of Stanley Park in record time. No need to worry about parking or not being able to stop in the middle of the road for that perfect picture. My only complaint about Stanley Park is a lack of signs and maps throughout the park. I think I only saw one map and only a small handful of signs during my 2 hours touring the park, and it took a while for me to refind the bus loop. Otherwise, everything about this park is wonderful. read more

Ditto to what fellow Yelpers have mentioned. This park is breathtakingly beautiful and a must-see when visiting the downtown Vancouver area. A few tips/notes: - Be prepared to take lots of pics! - I wish I'd rented a bike so I could've seen more - I highly recommend doing so. - There are tons of places to walk/hike. I lost count. - I did see a few restrooms & water fountains throughout. - Bring a backpack & wear super comfy shoes. I was here for an afternoon in mid-August - the weather was mid and sunny so the views were just spectacular. read more

Beautiful! Whenever I am feeling down or in need of a good kick in the butt, I take off on my bike and rip around the seawall to Stanley Park. Once there, I usually have no idea which trail I am turning down, or what path I come out on, but I always have a blast. It is very easy to get lost in there. And I mean lost, as in totally lost in my thoughts or lack there of. I forget I am even in the city. So quiet and peaceful. It has certainly changed since the wind storm, but I still love the park for all its imperfections. read more

This is one of the most beautiful parks I've ever visited! Yesterday I ran the half marathon and the course took us through Stanley Park. I stopped running a couple of times just to take pictures with my phone. I LOVE trees and you can find the tallest, widest, most beautiful moss covered trees in Stanley Park. We went back to the park today just to leisurely enjoy it while the sun was (finally!) out! The trees, the ocean and the mountains were so breathtaking! We also visited the Vancouver Aquarium. We spent a good chunk of our day at Stanley Park. There are so many things to see and do! read more

A MUST STOP in Vancouver. By far the NICEST and CLEANEST park I have ever been to. It's a photographers wet dream. Best way to see the park is to rent a bicycle, ride around and enjoy nature at its best. It's unfortunate I could not spend more time here. I could've spent the entire day roaming around. This is probably my shortest review. I don't know what else to say other than, GO! read more

A very very nice and a very super cool scenic park in the big city of Vancouver BC with a lot of beautiful greenspace and nice biking and walking trails. I do however strongly recommend staying out of that park at night because of homeless drug addicts and i Strongly recommend watching out for aggressive coyotes but otherwise it's all good at Stanley Park. Peace out and have a good day. read more

Stanley Park is a gem in Vancouver. With dozens of trails and the seawall encircling it, it is a great place to spend a couple of hours. During the pandemic it became my go-to for getting outdoors and having some nature. The seawall, with its combination of ocean and forest, is amazing. It can be crowded on the weekends but going during the week, it is not crowded and beautiful. read more

One of the nicest parks on the West Coast, Stanley Park has a great view of the skyline of Vancouver and depending on where you are a good look of Canadian wilderness. Stanley is a huge park. Walking or driving through it does take a while. I know since I walked on the walking path for what it appears to be 2 to 3 hours around. I also liked that they have separate pathways for bikers/rollerbladers and walkers/joggers. What is also great is that part of the park has a beach area as one of the features that this park offers, making it an ideal place for year round enjoyment. Stanley Park is a must visit when in Vancouver. read more

Wow. Quite possibly the greatest park EVER! This park is huge and there's so much to do you could spend a whole day here...maybe a weekend. I hear from the locals it's mostly a tourist thing, but that's how it always is. Afterall, I haven't been to Great America in ~10 years (ever since I moved within 20 miles of it...). read more

Wonderful park to visit. Rent bicycles and go around the Seawall to see the most that you can - it will get you to the necessary "must-see" locations fastest - the harbour, totem poles, lighthouse, mermaid, Lionsgate bridge.... What a beautiful park. I'm sure we only scratched the surface on this one. However, we figured we walked about ten miles in this park. How we managed to miss the totem poles is beyond me. We walked through some trails and down the walk that borders the water. I really enjoyed the fact that they have separate areas for people on bikes and blades and walkers. That way when you are walking you are not constantly worried that someone is about to run you down. We started at the Aquarium and then worked are way around until we came upon a concession stand that had burgers cooked to order. We had a nice day there. It was partly cloudy but didn't rain so we just enjoyed being out and about. What an asset to the city of Vancouver. I'll come back to enjoy this park again. To check out: Totem Poles and the Tea House read more

This place is humongous! There's also a ton of things to do, including just walking around, hiking, lawns to picnic or fly kites, aquarium, playgrounds for children, biking paths, and so on. My friends and I walked along the sea wall and got a really good view of Vancouver, and we saw the totem poles, lighthouse, nine o'clock canon, the rose garden (which was a disappointment), Lost Lagoon, and Jubilee fountain inside Lost Lagoon. We walked on foot but if we knew ahead of time how big this garden was, we would have gotten bikes and biked around. Stanley Park is definitely a must-visit in Vancouver! read more

Stanley Park, you are great. All my memories since childhood of this place have been good ones. The Seawall, Lost Lagoon, field trips to the Aquarium (even as an adult!). All good stuff. Very boring place, considering I've been living in Vancouver for 14 years. I definitely would have expected more!

Great place to spend an afternoon sauntering around with the significant other or to reroute your morning jog. If you find yourself with more time, spend the day at the beach before heading over to the 9 O'Clock gun. read more

What a treat!! This park is a must visit if you are in Vancouver. It is definitely popular spot for bikers and photographers. At the sunset we realized why. The views of the downtown bathed in the last rays of sunshine are just spectacular. Lots of things to see as well.. Thunderbird House Post (replica of the oldest one that's being kept in a local museum), Totem Poles (which are British Colombia Indiana's coat of arms) and were carved from western red cedar found only in western British Colombia and lower Alaska. They were not idols and they were not worshipped, they simply tell a story about specific or mythical event. The eagle represents the kingdom of the air, the whale of the sea, the wolf the genius of the land and the frog the link between the land and water. If you make it to The Lighthouse (The Brockton Point Lighthouse) in sunset, you will be treated by beautifully lighted Lions Gate Bridge. Close by there is a statue called Girl in Wetsuit, which represents Vancouver's dependents on the sea. At last, I will personally remember this park by a little friendly white and black seal that was swimming next to us. He was probably used to feeding from nearby boats as they return to marina. read more

What can you really say about Stanley park that hasn't been said already? It's literally one of the biggest parks in North America and is just an all-around amazing place to visit if you decide to visit Vancouver. Unfortunately, there is a problem with geese existing. read more

PROS: This place was amazing! A very large park with lots of landmarks, history, views, benches, small beaches, etc. There was so much we wanted to do and see in Vancouver with little time, we ended up driving around and parking in various locations to have a quick view after visiting the Vancouver Aquarium (located within Stanley Park). There are several trails you can either walk or bike at with ease. Lots of grassy spots and shade to relax and have a picnic as well. It truly was a great place to take a stroll & see different parts of the park. Our favorite spot was Prospect Point with a beautiful view of the Lions Gate bridge, North Shore Mountains and Burrard Inlet. We also enjoyed walking around on some of the trails. CONS: It was really difficult to find a place with a map of Stanley Park, indicating where everything was located. It would be helpful to provide these in multiple locations since the park is massive. We did eventually find one randomly, but when we saw an information booth which we thought would provide detailed information on Stanley Park, all the brochures were pretty much for tourism nearby (or horse drawn carriage ride in Stanley Park) and not specific to the park. You can print or download a map of Stanley Park in advance, but with a little mishap in communication with my husband, neither one of us got it prior to arriving there. You can easily spend a few hours here, especially on a beautiful, sunny day! read more

Love. Loved: biking around the seawall and people watching. So much we did it twice in a week! Go see it for yourself! :) read more

I would REALLY not recommend Vancouver in general. My wife and I sat in hours of ridiculous traffic, during the traffic jam I was cut-off in an intersection and as a result my car was assaulted by a 'maniac cop' who was apparently was upset because I didn't drive into the car that cut me off. So he punched my car and verbally abused me (forget the fact that I clearly had New York license plates and was a tourist on vacation and had no idea where I was and was just trying to get through a crazy traffic jam without breaking any laws). The next day we decided to visit Stanley Park, well things didn't go any better there. We drove in and parked in the Native American Totem Pole area at the park's east end. As you can see from my pics, there are no signs anywhere alerting unaware tourists that the parking is payed. We got back to our car and had a parking ticket (in a park). On our exit from the park we got lost and I had to check my phone for directions. Since I was driving I stopped and pulled over as much as I could to temporarily check my directions, since the road was not busy and I didn't want to drive distracted and kill someone. Withing 30 seconds the park police pulled up behind me and treated me as if I had robbed a bank. He demanded to know why I had stopped and before I could explain told me I needed to start driving and I couldn't stop for any reason whatsoever (by the way this was a double lane road with hardly and traffic on it). My wife and I were on a month long road trip this summer. In the last two years we have visited more than 40 different cities in the US and Canada and never had any experience even close to this. In fact we had been on the road for a total of 3 weeks up to this point and never even had any interaction with police and in the span of 24 hours in Vancouver had two extremely negative interactions. Outside of the obvious problems with police the people here also just seemed unfriendly and weirdly hostile. We didn't get a very friendly vibe from this place at all. In general, I would not recommend Vancouver as a place to visit. read more

In a towering forest of pipe and steel, an island of green emerges like a nightmarish pimple in Donald Trump's utopian wet dream. This is Stanley Park, a thousand acres of grass, forests, and stone reminding those in downtown Vancouver that they still live in Canada. If it was just the Aquarium, that would be enough justification to visit, but there's still enough to satisfy someone for hours...assuming you don't mind walking. For those unwilling or out of shape, there's nothing wrong with keeping the car below thirty and just cruising the circuit which snakes throughout the park, stopping occasionally at a tourist attraction. Just to clarify...it wasn't laziness on our part. Okay, it wasn't JUST laziness. We walked the entirety of Seal Bay Park in Courtenay--just putting things into perspective. We spent most of the day at the Vancouver Aquarium, leaving less than ninety minutes for the rest of it, a paltry ration for one of the largest and greatest parks in the word (so goes the acclaim). I appreciate the fact such a respected park is mostly a rainforest sanctuary. When the ultimate fate of our ecosystem has devolved into some Gibsonian sprawl of artificiality where smog has permanently blocked our view of the stars, heavy trucks thunder along pitted roadways while cars battle through traffic fumes, and overpopulation has forced the construction of cheap ugly apartment blocks shielding citizens to the beauty they once took for granted, Stanley Park will most likely remain, unsoiled, bullied by encircling brutalist architecture--and holy hell, did I go maudlin there. Wow. Sorry. Must have been all those futurist books I read in the 70's. Yeah, Stanley Park is very green, and it should remain that way. Felled trees should be left felled. Animals should be undisturbed. I believe our experience can be replicated. Fun can be had. I know there are stories about robberies and beggars, but this wasn't our experience. I think people should be wary no matter where they travel. People complain about crime, garbage, and transients...but have you seen the city? What did you think this was? Calgary? Vancouver is a labyrinth of clashing architectures the likes of which could mystify Terry Gilliam. Rely on your Satnav and you'll have no problem getting in, navigating, and getting out of the park. There was a lot more we missed and my review should only be taken as the broad evaluation of the park as whole that it is. The important thing is that I will be returning the next chance I have an extended stay in the city. (And yes, I did admittedly quote one of those futurist books of the 70's up there, but unless you are a world-class nerd, you'll never find it) read more

You can walk around for free and the birds chirp nice and the raccoons eat from your hand but watch out for their sharp claws!

Gigantic park! We went here three times, twice walking and once with our rental car. It goes on and on! Highly recommend - it might take a few trips "to get it all in"...not sure if anyone can get it all in! Trees, trails, a lake, it is endless! Negative sighting - they had these poor horses strapped to a large trailer that carries tourists. This was a little shocking. It is 2018! Hopefully they will become more "with the times" in terms of not using/abusing animals in this fashion. Bicycles! Whatever! There has to be another way to view the beauty of this park without the poor tired horses. Otherwise - it is a great park! read more

The boyfriend and I decided to be kitschy tourists and rented an awkward tandem bike for our Seawall biking experience. It was awesome! The views are to die for, right along the water with plenty of gentle loops to keep things interesting. The path is very flat and bike-able even if biking is not your thing. Biking the entire perimeter leisurely took us about one and a half hours, including photograph breaks. Scenic points included Lions gate bridge (green suspension bridge), the kiddie park, a few beaches (I think there are 2 or 3 total?), and a few scenic rocks. It was a bit overcast for us but we scored some spectacular views of the neighboring green hills (including Whistler) of North Van, Kits(ilano) beach, and the rest of Stanley Park. We also walked around the park the next day because we loved it so much-- it's a brisk 2 hour walk (5.5mi) around the perimeter with loads of pedestrian paths through the interior. Paths are clearly marked, paved, flat, and cross a few lagoons/ ponds. Very accessible, beautiful scenery, and wonderful for all ages. The paths can get crowded at times when the weather's nice but overall people move. Definitely recommend biking, rollerblading, jogging, and/ or walking this park! You can't miss this if you're in Vancouver :) read more

Such a beautiful park. Reminds me of central park with the lake and fountain and downtown skyline in the background. I could explore the forests and walk along the sea side from sunrise to sunset and still not be sick of it (nor probably have time to see it all). The park is not only beautiful but I like how there is a major road through the park to provide practical access between north Vancouver and downtown. I'm not sure if it was a controversial decision to build the road due to the destruction of nature and disturbance to the environment of the animals that inhabit the park but I'm all for practicality. The drive through thr park is also beautiful. Be prepared for a sore body the next day if you truly decide to explore this park thoroughly! read more

Stanley Park is huge!!!! Such a nice change of pace from Downtown Vancouver. You get to see and explore the Sea-wall, where people are fishing, boating, kayaking etc... then you can explore the inner depths of the park where there is more wildlife and trees, as if you're in a forest. Such a great experience. We biked the seawall of the park and it only took us an hour or so, with stopping to take photos. The scenery here is beautiful and was a great way to spend the day or a few hours in Vancouver. If you're biking, please mind other bikers around you. If they ring their bell at you, move to the left and let them pass!! MOVE to the left and let people pass! There were so many inconsiderate people not allowing others to pass when they went too slow, creating traffic. Landscape was well kept, there are plenty of informative notes and placards for different viewpoints - great park for sure. Very friendly. Bike lane is ONE WAY, until the near end or towards the city. read more

Stanley Park is quite possibly the best park I've ever been to. And I'm saying that without even seeing about 80% of the park. If I did, my heart would probably explode with appreciation. Okay, that's a massive exaggeration, but this park really is beautiful. I'm especially pleased they kept so many of the huge trees that fell over in that wind storm from a couple years ago. It's oddly beautiful seeing them lying on the ground with their root structures spiraling in the air. Or even seeing some of these massive trees holding strong as they now tilt. The flowers, trees and shrubs are gorgeous and there's lots of green space to play sports or have a picnic. There are also plenty of more structured activities and establishments to enjoy throughout the park. Next time I'm in Vancouver, I'm definitely making another stop or two here. read more
